Light Table is an integrated development environment for software engineering developed by Chris Granger and Robert Attorri. It features real-time feedback allowing instant execution, debugging and access to documentation.{{cite web|url=http://www.creativebloq.com/netmag/light-table-better-way-write-code-11125975|title=Light Table: a better way to write code|author=Craig Grannell|date=8 November 2012 |publisher=net}} The instant feedback provides an execution environment intended to help developing abstractions.{{cite web|url=http://www.businessinsider.com/this-startup-is-finally-changing-the-way-programming-works-after-more-than-30-years-2012-8|title=Meet Light Table: A Startup That Will Literally Change The Way App Development Works |first= Matt |last= Lynley |work= Business Insider |date= August 28, 2012 |access-date= April 8, 2014}}

The development team attempted to create a program which shows the programmer what the effects of their additions are in real-time, rather than requiring them to work out the effects as they write the code.{{cite magazine |url= https://www.wired.com/2014/01/light-table/ |title= Out in the Open: These Hackers Want to Give You Coding Superpowers |date= January 20, 2014 |access-date= 8 April 2014 |first= Klint |last= Finley |magazine= Wired}} Though the program began by supporting only Clojure, it has since aimed to support Python and JavaScript. The developers claim that the software can reduce programming time by up to 20%.

It was financed by a Kickstarter fundraising campaign and subsequently backed by Y Combinator.{{cite web|url=https://techcrunch.com/2012/08/21/y-combinator-s12-batch-4/|title=Y Combinator S12 Demo Day Batch 4: Meet Vayable, Light Table, viaCycle, and Others |date= August 21, 2012 |access-date= April 8, 2014 |work= Tech Crunch |first= Anthony |last= Ha}} The Kickstarter campaign aimed to raise $200,000 USD and finished with $316,720 USD.
