Lipany ('lindens;' {{langx|hu|Héthárs}}, {{langx|de|Siebenlinden}}, {{langx|la|Septemtiliae}} all lit. 'seven lindens') is a town in the Sabinov District, Prešov Region in northeastern Slovakia.
History
The first written mention about Lipany comes from 1312. It gained town privileges in the 16th century.
Geography
Lipany lies at an altitude of {{convert|389|m|ft|0}} above sea level and covers an area of {{convert|12.648|km2|sqmi|1}}. The Torysa River flows through the town. It is {{convert|12|km|2|abbr=on}} away from Sabinov, {{convert|29|km|2|abbr=on}} from Prešov and {{convert|35|km|2|abbr=on}} from Stará Ľubovňa.
