Since 1989 there has been altogether 236 registered political parties in the country, 61 are active as of March 2012.{{Cite web |url=http://portal.ives.sk/registre/zoznamPS.do?action=azzu |title=Register of Parties |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120712162401/http://portal.ives.sk/registre/zoznamPS.do?action=azzu |archive-date=12 July 2012 |url-status=dead}} Today they have 58 active parties https://ives.minv.sk/rez/registre/pages/list.aspx?type=ps {{Bare URL inline|date=August 2024}}
