This notice seems to be appearing on /doc redirects, {{-r|Module:Infobox3cols/doc|example here}}. I think this notice should be removed from redirects. A discussion about this is found at WP:VPT#Template doc header, where it's been suggested that this is the correct page that applies the {{tl|Documentation subpage}} template. Also suggested was the use of {{tl|redirect other}}, perhaps in the following manner:
- Modify this page from this:
{{#ifeq:{{#titleparts:{{PAGENAME}}|1|2}}|documentation||{{documentation subpage}}}}
- to this:
{{Redirect other||{{#ifeq:{{#titleparts:{{PAGENAME}}|1|2}}|documentation||{{documentation subpage}}}}}}
- That should remove the {{tl|Documentation subpage}} template from /doc redirects. Thank you in advance!
- And if you can help with the other needed removal, the unnecessary notice that is now seen on all talkpage redirects, {{-r|Template talk:Jct/sandbox|example here}}, which invites discussion to begin on these redirects and should not do so, that would also be great! :{{done}}. Did a slightly different way though, just using the module part without the template part. -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:27, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
::Thank you so very much, editor {{u|WOSlinker}}! Your fix works just fine! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 23:03, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
[[:Category:Module documentation pages]]
The way the transclusion of template {{tl|documentation subpage}} on the page {{SUBJECTPAGENAME}} works, it does not contribute to the categorization of /doc pages. Which means that {{cl|Module documentation pages|count=yes}} is mostly populated by pages, where there is a separate, duplicate transclusion of {{tlf|documentation subpage}}. For example, how it is on Module:Infobox3cols/doc versus Module:WP/doc, which has only one copy of {{tlf|documentation subpage}} from {{SUBJECTPAGENAME}}.
Compare to {{cl|Template documentation pages|count=yes}}, which is mostly properly populated thanks to Template:Documentation/preload.
If we don't care for proper categorization of /doc pages into :Category:Module documentation pages, perhaps it ought to be deleted. What do you think? —andrybak (talk) 09:23, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
:Another option could be to blank MediaWiki:Scribunto-doc-page-header and add {{tl|documentation subpage}} to all the module documentation pages. -- WOSlinker (talk) 09:39, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
::Precisely. I don't mind either way.
::For my gnomish edits in /doc pages of templates, :Category:Template documentation pages helps in two ways:
::# blanking of pages (test edits, vandalism) shows up as ":Category:Template documentation pages{{monospace| .. }}User:Example (talk {{!}} contribs) (Template:Example/doc removed from category ...)" in the watchlist, which helps for speedy reverting
::# I sometimes check and clean up (formatting, categorization, etc) newly created /doc pages, which also shows up in the watchlist.
::Modules' /doc pages are not as affected by the blanking issue as templates are. For the second item, modules' /doc pages are often just "Implements template {{tl|example}}, see documentation there." —andrybak (talk) 14:00, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
: I have nominated :Category:Module documentation pages for deletion. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:30, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
::To add context: this discussion lead to a discussion at WP:BOTREQ, which in turn lead to another discussion at WP:VPT, which lead to the nomination for category deletion. —andrybak (talk) 17:53, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
