He served as the fourth Chief Technology Officer of the United States at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. On December 22, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Kratsios as the next Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and Science Advisor to the President. He was confirmed for the office on March 25, 2025.

Kratsios joined the White House in 2017 as Deputy Assistant to the President for Technology Policy.
