The National Religious Party–Religious Zionism ({{langx|he|מפלגה דתית לאומית–הציונות הדתית|Miflaga Datit Leumit – HaTzionut HaDatit}}), or Mafdal–Religious Zionism, is a far-right religious Zionist political party in Israel. The party was formed in August 2023, when the Religious Zionist Party and The Jewish Home parties agreed to merge.{{cite news|url=https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/375079|title=Religious Zionism and Jewish Home parties merge|date=3 August 2023|access-date=14 October 2023|work=Arutz Sheva|first=Hezki|last=Baruch}} The merger is expected to give the former Religious Zionist Party a foothold at the municipal level, while The Jewish Home will be able to wield some power after not gaining any seats in the 2022 Israeli legislative election.{{cite web|url=https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/politics-and-diplomacy/article-753605|title=Religious Zionism to merge with Jewish Home|first=Troy|last=Fritzhand|date=3 August 2023|accessdate=14 October 2023|work=The Jerusalem Post}}

Background

Bezalel Smotrich defeated Uri Ariel in the Tkuma leadership election in January 2019.{{cite web|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/hardliner-smotrich-wins-race-to-lead-influential-jewish-home-sub-faction/|title=Hardliner Smotrich wins race to lead influential Jewish Home sub-faction|work=The Times of Israel|first=Jacob|last=Magid|date=14 January 2019|access-date=15 October 2023}}

After difficult negotiations, Tkuma, The Jewish Home, and Otzma Yehudit reached a deal to run in the April 2019 election as the Union of Right-Wing Parties (winning five seats in the Knesset). In June 2019, Otzma Yehudit accused The Jewish Home of not honoring their election pact, and left the alliance.{{cite web|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/far-right-otzma-yehudit-accuses-jewish-home-of-not-honoring-election-pact/|title=Far-right Otzma Yehudit accuses Jewish Home of not honoring election pact|date=20 June 2019|accessdate=15 October 2023|work=The Times of Israel|author=Staff writer}} The New Right (founded by Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked after splitting from The Jewish Home in December 2018) had failed to pass the electoral threshold in the April 2019 election.{{cite web|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/yamina-party-officially-splits-into-new-right-jewish-home-national-union/ |title=Yamina party officially splits into New Right, Jewish Home-National Union |work=The Times of Israel |date=10 October 2019 |access-date=15 October 2023 |first=Raoul|last=Wootliff}} Ahead of the September 2019 Israeli legislative election, The Jewish Home and Tkuma (running as the United Right) allied with the New Right,{{cite web|url=http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/266645|title=New Right, United Right reach final agreement on joint run|website=Israel National News|language=en|access-date=15 October 2023|date=29 July 2019|author=Staff}} and called their joint list Yamina.{{cite web|url=http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267286|title=United Right to run under name "Yemina"|work=Arutz Sheva|date=12 August 2019|accessdate=15 October 2023}} Despite Otzma and The Jewish Home initially agreeing to run on a joint list called the United Jewish Home in preparation for the 2020 Israeli legislative election,{{Cite web|url=https://www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-home-party-far-right-otzma-yehudit-reunite-ahead-of-third-elections/|title=Jewish Home party, far-right Otzma Yehudit reunite ahead of third elections|author1=Jacob Magid|author2=Staff writer|author2-link=Staff writer|work=The Times of Israel|language=en-US|access-date=15 October 2023|date=20 December 2019|archive-date=20 December 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191220142453/https://www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-home-party-far-right-otzma-yehudit-reunite-ahead-of-third-elections/|url-status=live}} Yamina was reformed, with Otzma Yehudit once again being left out.{{cite news|url=http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/274617|title=Bennett, Peretz, Smotrich agree to joint run without Ben Gvir|date=15 January 2020|work=Arutz Sheva|access-date=15 October 2023}}
