Rong Hao ({{zh|s=荣昊|p=Róng Hào}}; {{small|Mandarin pronunciation:}} {{IPAc-cmn|r|ong|2|-|h|ao|4|}}; born 7 April 1987) is a Chinese former professional footballer as a right-footed left-back.{{Cite web|url=http://www.sodasoccer.com/search/player/72/143860/F935FA47836F9ECF.shtml|title=荣昊|publisher=sodasoccer.com|access-date=2012-08-20}}

Club career

Rong Hao started his football career with Wuhan Guanggu in 2006, making his debut and scoring his first goal for the club on 27 May 2006 in a 1-0 win against Shenyang Ginde.{{Cite web|url=http://sports.sohu.com/20060527/n243435530.shtml|title=荣昊处子秀建功 武汉队1-0击败金德结束7轮不胜|publisher=sports.sohu.com|date=2006-05-27|access-date=2012-08-20}} He then played in five more league games at the end of the 2006 season. By the following season, he began to gradually establish himself as a regular for the club despite usually coming on as a substitute; however, Wuhan were suddenly ejected from the top tier and subsequently relegated during the 2008 season after the club's management refused to accept the punishment given to them by the Chinese Football Association after a scuffle broke out on 27 September 2008 in a 1-1 draw against Beijing Guoan. Rong then found himself unable to play any football without a club.{{Cite web|url=http://english.people.com.cn/90001/90779/90871/6530650.html|title=Wuhan ejected from soccer league|publisher=english.people.com.cn|date=November 10, 2008|access-date=2012-08-20}}

In the 2009 season, newly promoted club Jiangsu Sainty were willing to take Rong on loan. He immediately established himself as the regular for the club and helped guide them to a tenth-place position.{{Cite web|url=https://www.rsssf.org/tablesc/china09.html|title=China 2009|date=23 Apr 2010|website=RSSSF|access-date=2012-08-20}} Once his loan ended, Rong transferred to fellow top tier side Hangzhou Greentown and helped guide the club to a fourth-place finish, allowing them to play in the AFC Champions League for the first time in the club's history.{{Cite web|url=https://www.rsssf.org/tablesc/china2010.html|title=China 2010

|date=21 Jun 2012|website=RSSSF|access-date=2012-08-20}}

On 26 December 2011, Rong transferred to Guangzhou Evergrande along with Zhao Xuri, Li Jianbin and Peng Xinli.{{Cite web|url=http://sports.sina.com.cn/j/2011-12-26/15085883182.shtml|title=恒大官方宣布签四名新援 国足三将携潜力新星加盟|publisher=sports.sina.com.cn|date=2011-12-26|access-date=2012-08-20}} Rong was injured for most of the 2012 season and was in no condition to take part in any matches. He won 13 major trophies during his 6-year stay in his first spell for Guangzhou, including 6 Chinese Super League and 2 AFC Champions League titles. On 28 February 2018, Rong was loaned to fellow top tier side Shanghai Shenhua for the 2018 season.{{Cite web|url=http://sports.sina.com.cn/china/j/2018-02-28/doc-ifwnpcns4060763.shtml|title=申花官宣荣昊租借加盟半年 身披24号转战上海滩|publisher=sports.sina.com.cn|date=2018-02-28|access-date=2018-03-01}} On 28 February 2019, Rong was loaned out to fellow top tier side Tianjin Teda for the 2019 season.{{Cite web|url=http://sports.sina.com.cn/china/j/2019-02-28/doc-ihrfqzkc0039877.shtml|title=恒大官宣12名球员离队 荣昊加盟泰达王上源赴建业|publisher=sports.sina.com.cn|date=2019-02-28|access-date=2019-03-01}} On 12 April 2021, Rong joined hometown club Wuhan Three Towns, where he won the 2021 China League One and achieved promotion to the Chinese Super League with the team.{{Cite web|url=https://sports.sina.com.cn/china/b/2021-04-12/doc-ikmyaawa9223009.shtml|title=武汉三镇一口气宣10人:耿晓峰刘奕鸣任航等来投|publisher=Sina Sports|date=2021-04-12|access-date=2023-01-16}} On 13 February 2022, Rong returned to newly-promoted Zhejiang Pro (formerly named Hangzhou Greentown) after 11 years, and he expressed the intention to retire at the club.{{Cite web|url=https://sports.sina.com.cn/china/j/2022-02-13/doc-ikyamrna0569169.shtml|title=官方:荣昊回归加盟中超升班马浙江队|publisher=Sina Sports|date=2022-02-13|access-date=2023-01-16}} However, due to personal and family reasons, he only played 1 game for Zhejiang during his second spell. On 27 August 2022, Rong returned to Guangzhou F.C. (formerly named Guangzhou Evergrande) after terminating his contract with Zhejiang, stating that he is willing to play for them for free in order to save the club from its financially troubled state.{{Cite web|url=https://sports.sina.com.cn/china/j/2022-08-27/doc-imizmscv7990597.shtml|title=官方:前国脚荣昊回归广州队 将身披44号球衣|publisher=Sina Sports|date=2022-08-27|access-date=2023-01-16}} However he was not able to prevent the club's relegation from the 2022 Chinese Super League.

On 28 December 2024, Rong held the retirement game with his former teammates Li Xuepeng and Feng Xiaoting in Shandong Linyi Olympic Park. {{cite news|url=https://baijiahao.baidu.com/s?id=1819694569456408057&wfr=spider&for=pc|title=退役不褪色,冯潇霆在现场宣布将在退役后成立“助攻未来”足球队|publisher=dongqiudi|date=2024-12-28|access-date=2024-12-29}}

International career

Rong made his international debut on 1 June 2009 in a 1-0 friendly win against Iran at Qinhuangdao.{{Cite web|url=http://teamchina.sports.sohu.com/20090601/n264291788.shtml|title=郜林补射绝杀高家军迎来首胜 中国队1-0胜伊朗|publisher=teamchina.sports.sohu.com|date=2009-06-01|access-date=2012-08-20}} After several further friendlies, he then established himself as the first-choice left back under then manager Gao Hongbo and won the 2010 East Asian Football Championship with the national team before being called up to China's squad for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
