{{Short description|CPU socket for laptop AMD CPUs}}

Socket 563 is a microPGA CPU socket used for low-power (16 W and 25 W TDP) Athlon XP-M processors ("Thoroughbred" & "Barton"; Models 8 & 10).{{Cite web |title=Socket 563 - AMD - WikiChip |url=https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/packages/socket_563#Bibliography |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=en.wikichip.org |language=en}}{{Cite news |last=Lendino |first=Jamie |date=12 March 2003 |title=Update: AMD Announces Mobile Athlon XP |work=Extreme Tech |url=https://www.extremetech.com/archive/53682-update-amd-announces-mobile-athlon-xp }} Socket 563 was also reportedly used for the "Appaloosa" Duron processors, which were never officially released but did see some very limited circulation.{{Cite web |title=Nie będzie AMD Appaloosa |url=https://geekweek.interia.pl/komputery/news-nie-bedzie-amd-appaloosa,nId,657488 |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=geekweek.interia.pl |language=pl}}{{Cite web |title=Appaloosa - Cores - AMD - WikiChip |url=https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/cores/appaloosa |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=en.wikichip.org |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Mrazek |first=Stepan |date=2002-01-30 |title=Socket 563 a nové mobilní AMD na obzoru |url=https://www.svethardware.cz/socket-563-a-nove-mobilni-amd-na-obzoru/5476 |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=Svethardware.cz |language=cs}}{{Cite web |title=Socket 563 dla mobilnych układów AMD |url=https://geekweek.interia.pl/komputery/news-socket-563-dla-mobilnych-ukladow-amd,nId,659590 |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=geekweek.interia.pl |language=pl}} This socket is usually found in laptops and requires a low-power mobile processor in a special 563-pin μPGA package which is different from the Socket A (462 pin) package used for other Athlon processors.{{Cite web |title=AMD、2002年のロードマップを公開。すべての製品を0.13μm化 |url=https://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2002/0118/amd.htm |access-date=2023-10-07 |website=pc.watch.impress.co.jp |language=Japanese}} Socket 563 supports 32-bit CPUs only.

Socket 563 was succeeded by Socket S1 in 2006.
