A superclub is a very large or superior nightclub, often with several rooms with different themes.{{cite book|last1=Haslam|first1=Dave|title=Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues|date=13 August 2015|publisher=Simon and Schuster|isbn=9780857207005|page=Chapter 13|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=WCylBAAAQBAJ&q=Turnmills+superclub&pg=PT265|language=en}}{{cite web|title=Superclub definition and meaning {{!}} Collins English Dictionary|url=https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/superclub|website=collinsdictionary.com|publisher=Collins, 2016|accessdate=15 March 2017|language=en}} The term was first coined in Mixmag, the British electronic dance and clubbing magazine, in 1995, referring to the new wave of clubs such as Ministry of Sound and Cream, which were dominating the English club scene.{{cite book|last1=Robinson|first1=Roxy|title=Music Festivals and the Politics of Participation|date=29 April 2016|publisher=Routledge|isbn=9781317091998|page=37|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=dIQWDAAAQBAJ&q=the+term+Supernightclub&pg=PA37|language=en}}

Superclubs may include nightclubs that have high capacity, or are multi-story, high profile, and operate city and region wide or are well known.{{cite book|last1=Cohen|first1=edited by Philip|last2=Rustin|first2=Michael J.|title=London's turning : Thames Gateway-prospects and legacy|date=2008|publisher=Ashgate|location=Aldershot, Hampshire, England|isbn=9780754670636|page=2002}} Some superclubs are owned and managed by a dance music record label or a club that was or is culturally important. Forerunners of contemporary superclubs already existed in the early 20th century. The Guardian describes the Moka Efti in Berlin, a major dancing establishment of the Golden Twenties, as a "1920s superclub".{{cite web|url=https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/nov/24/babylon-berlin-real-1920s-superclub-behind-weimar-era-thriller |title=Sex, seafood and 25,000 coffees a day: the wild 1920s superclub that inspired Babylon Berlin|last=Oltermann|first=Philip |work=The Guardian |date=24 November 2017 |access-date=11 January 2021}}

Privilege Ibiza is the "world's largest nightclub" according to the Guinness Book of Records, with a capacity of 10,000 people.
