International borders
France also shares a border with the Netherlands on the island of Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. Saint Martin is part of France, and Sint Maarten is part of the Netherlands.

There is a . inside the redirecting link in two places on this page. They should be moved outside the brackets and therefore redirection for consistency.
"Some examples of the most valuable French companies include LVMH, L'Oréal and Sociéte Générale."
In 'Sociéte Générale.', the dot should be moved outside of the x brackets. It is also present in the line 'many foreign Roma are expelled back to Bulgaria and Romania frequently.'
This is mostly cosmetic but noticeable. AT.folf (talk) 09:59, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
The mention of homosexuality in the legal system section
{{atop|This talkpage is meant for discussion of its associated article, it is not the right forum to discuss all country articles. CMD (talk) 00:47, 17 April 2025 (UTC)}}
Hello,
Largoplazo wishes to remove any mention of homosexuality in the legal system section in all country articles
I do not agree with this new policy laid out by him
May I have your views on the issue ?
Regards Varoon2542 (talk) 17:28, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
:User:Varoon2542 is lying. I absolutely do not want that. And Varoon needs to stop acting out and falsely imputing attitudes to me that I don't have. Largoplazo (talk) 18:24, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
::Your edit history of Mauritius says otherwise
::Can you please explain why you want to remove any mention of homosexuality from all country articles ?
::I'll let other contributors express their views on the subject given its wide ranging consequences on nearly two hundred articles Varoon2542 (talk) 18:31, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
:::Can you explain why you're asking me why I want to do something that I don't want to do? Can you ... you know what? I'm not engaging you in your manufactured attempt at vilification here. Enjoy the discussion at WP:ANI. Largoplazo (talk) 19:03, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
:::So I see there's a tiny dispute here.... about the addition of a sentence. I do not see the removal of other information regarding this topic. We do have an expectation of Wikipedia:Honesty. Best follow WP:FOC..... thus you should be discussing the merits of the inclusion of material that has been disputed.... as in how does it educate and is relevant for our readers etc. Moxy🍁 19:06, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Add authoritarian government to the government section
France sentenced Marine Le Pen to 4 years in prison and a 5-year political ban. The imprisonment of an opposition leader makes a country authoritarian, so the government section should say authoritarian government. 37.155.74.239 (talk) 15:56, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
:This is the second time in a week I've seen someone use this talk page to act out a grievance over a situation taking place on the talk page of another country article while leaving readers here in the dark as to the context. First it was Mauritius, now it's Turkey. An IP (37.155.78.254) in the same small IP range posted [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Turkey&curid=79992&diff=1286201182&oldid=1286094422 this] at Talk:Turkey to object to that article's description of Turkey's government as "authoritarian". That user and one registered user expressing the same complaint were rebuffed with explanations seated in what reliable sources have to say about that country's style of governance. The user seems to be ignoring all of that and misrepresenting other editors' position as being that the Turkish government is authoritarian because of, and only because of, the arrest of Erdogan's opponent in the upcoming election. So the post above, based on that mistaken premise, amounts to acting out that if Turkey's government is being called "authoritarian", then so is every country where a politician is convicted of crime, regardless of whether or not they actually committed a crime. Largoplazo (talk) 16:32, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
::Cope harder bro. Both Le Pen and Imamoglu are guilty, but from a western perspective, punishing Imamoglu is anti-democratic and dictatorial, while punishing Le Pen or banning the opposition leader from the elections in Romania is very well-justified and democratic. LMAO. Putin is preparing to invade Europe in the near future, and you are still unfairly slandering Türkiye on Wikipedia, Twitter, Instagram and the mainstream media in general. I guess you would say "but democracy, but human rights" to stop Putin's armies. 37.155.75.159 (talk) 15:28, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
:::Political rants and scattershot trolling are off-topic here. Largoplazo (talk) 15:50, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
ifop is not a reliable source
A survey from the institue IFOP is cited to show that most of the french population agrees that full face covering hijabs should be banned in public. However, this institute is known for methodological weaknesses and biased positions, as shown in a Monde article called "
Dans la fabrique opaque des sondages" writted by Luc Bronner, citing a book from the doctor in statistics Michel Lejeune who analyzed the methods of opinions institutes in "La singulière fabrique des sondages d’opinion". The survey was conducted online and the sample was small, only 1000 people were interrogated (https://www.ifop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/2195-1-study_file.pdf) The survey was also payed for by a newspaper (Ouest-France) whose editorial line is openely Christian and right-wing leaning. AxLsontjolies (talk) 13:53, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
:Yes, IFOP is slightly controversial in France, but it is fairly well known. And the fact that the survey is funded by Ouest-France, which is not right-wing, changes nothing. Legonin (talk) 19:38, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

Why has religion not been updated? Islam is now at 10~13% in France. Is it because there are no reasonable estimates for Christianity and other religions?
But then surely when the estimators predicted Islam at 10~13%, they would do it within the context of the whole population?
Genuinely curious as to why it has not been updated here, but has been updated in Islam in Europe, for instance. 148.88.245.126 (talk) 19:47, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{not done}}: The simple reason why any information in any article that could be updated hasn't been is that either no one has thought to or no one has gotten around to it! This encyclopedia is a volunteer effort.
:Naturally, we can't just replace one figure in a breakdown of the whole, the figures all have to come from a single source as of a single date or period and add up (within rounding) to 100%. We'd also need a reliable source that the replacement figures come from to replace the existing citation. Largoplazo (talk) 21:31, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
::Well actually there was a study conducted by INSEE (the official government statistics institution) in 2019-2020 that showed precise results :
::-52% irreligious
::-29% Catholics
::-10% Muslim
::-9% other Christians
::-1% other religions
::So we do have clear and safe data.
::Yet the page still shows irrelevant informations...

Religions
The infobox quotes a survey carried out by Vivavoice for the {{ill|Observatoire de la laïcité|fr}}, presenting it as ‘official statistics’, presented on the government website. But:
-In France there are no official statistics on religions, and the document is not presented as such. It says, in red and underlined, ‘results to be interpreted with caution’.
-It mentions the values of 47% for Catholicism, 2% for protestantism and 1% for Eastern Orthodoxy, not 50% for christianity.
-There is [https://www.insee.fr/fr/statistiques/6793308 another survey] carried out the same year by the official statistics institute in France, Insee (but the statistics are still not official) which puts forward the following values for the 18-59 age group in 2019-2020:
- 51% irreligious
-29% Catholic
-10% Muslim (see also "#Semi-protected edit request on 6 May 2025")
-9% other Christians
-(1% other religions)
