O-Zone is a Moldovan Eurodance group established in 1999. The follow-up, "Despre tine", was written, composed and produced by Balan. "Despre tine" first topped the Romanian Top 100 in February 2003, where it held the position for three consecutive weeks. Upon the song's international release in 2004, it entered several other charts. In July that year, it peaked at number eight in Italy, as well as reached numbers four and one in Denmark and Norway, respectively, in August. In the former, it spent ten consecutive weeks inside the top 10, while in the former it spent 11 including eight consecutive ones at number one. It became the group's second chart topper there after "Dragostea din tei" earlier that year. Throughout September, "Despre tine" notably reached number two in France—where it was in the top 10 for 11 consecutive weeks—as well as number nine in Wallonia and number four in Spain. It was certified gold by the French Syndicat national de l'édition phonographique (SNEP), denoting sales of 250,000 copies. In October and November, it notably also reached number four on Billboard{{'s}} European Hot 100 Singles chart, number seven in Sweden, and the top 10 in all DACH countries.
