Full story, as I and most others involved see it. A user {{User|Ebfilms}} had created (multiple times) the artice E.B. Hughes which was declared autobiographical and conflict of interest and was not so much deleted but nuked Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/E.B. Hughes (2nd nomination). In his talk page Ebfilms, may be E.B. Hughes himself made references to other film producers who he claimed were less notable than him, i.e. Kyle Schickner. After deletion Ebfiles continued his attacks on his talk page (the only place he could edit as a blocked user) and he was eventually fully blocked for continuous abuse [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Ebfilms&oldid=227031647 see here].
Shortly after this user created a number of sockpuppets to evade the block and started vandalising Kyle Schickner and asking for it be deleted. he finally managed to make an AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kyle Schickner which was thrown out in less than a day with a consensus to keep the article and block the nominator and all his other user names. All the sockpuppets have now been identified formally and blocked. I hope he realises that if anyone touches the Kyle Schickner without supported refs it will be revereted very quickly. --triwbe (talk) 13:11, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I see you've done a lot of work on the bisexual articles, this is great!
I think wikipedia should have a link somewhere to the new UK activist group "The Bisexual Index" (www.bisexualindex.org.uk) but I don't see a page for bisexual organisations per se.
Can you advise if you think this is a good idea, and if it is where it should go? I don't think we're notable enough for an article yet.

Well the only thing you added to the article after I placed the notability tag, was a "see also" section. Notability is a core requirement and should be evident in the first two sentences. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

I have reverted your edit. You seem to have missed the point that is given in the template on the image page. Any permission given needs to be able to be verified. So that means either a link to the image's web page, which has a CC-BY-2.0 license OR or an email from the copyright owner is sent or forwarded to permissions-en@wikimedia.org to allow an OTRS ticket to be applied. A fuller explanation can also be found at WP:DCM. I have reset the date to allow you a full period to obtain permission. Just stating "permission given", although maybe tolerated in the past, is not now possible - for about the last year we have the pseudo-speedy templates, which give the uploader a fixed time to correct the problems. Aloha!
My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.
I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.
I see that you have an interest in human sexuality. That is an immensely important topic to be contributing to! I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.
I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me, either over the phone, by Skype, by Facebook, by email, or any means you like. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project and we'll set up a good time to discuss further.

Hi there. I knew this page was under construction becasue a lot of people have been asking for it as useful and needed. The abstracts are not an "exact" copy but as pretty darn close. - Perhaps people have been asking for a page like this, but it is not needed, because all this information is readily available from multiple databases as well as the journal's [http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/wjbi20/current online access] page (for free). I fail to see what the interest is of copying all this stuff here. Note that "pretty darn close" still is a copyright violation. Note also that, as far as I know, leaving out the abstracts but "just" copying the tables of contents would also constitute a copyright violation. And if all that is not enough yet, even if there would be no copyright issue, this whole article goes against WP:NOTADIRECTORY. I really don't see how this could ever be kept as a valid article. - It's kind of "hidden" unless you know where to look. So the average researcher wasn't even aware of it's existence. As a result people have been reinventing the wheel, and not citing any of it. For years. People (read students, HS, Undergrad, Grad & general researchers) have thought there was no research at all on any of this becasue they didn't know it existed. So they either tried to redo it or they (frankly) made incorect stuff up. SO there must be some way to at least list the contents of the journal. Somehow. - And (not to get other good and useful pages into trouble) can I point out List of Lambda Literary Awards winners and nominees for science fiction, fantasy and horror and List of Lambda Literary Award winners which it is my understanding were some of the models for this. There was a clear worry that it might not be "formatted" correctly. But also a clear understanding that there has to be some way to get this info listed in a useful and encyclopediac (is that even a word?) way. So again if we can go for the intent can you help us with this? It realy is unknown data. CyntWorkStuff (talk)
- Our article on the journal has two link to the online content (one in the infobox, one in the "external links" section). If people don't see/use that, then I don't really see how this list article would remedy things. In any case, even though I sympathize with your problem, WP is an encyclopedia and does not exist to right wrongs. (Especially not if that includes creating other wrongs such as introducing copyvios). As for the other lists, I had a quick glance and even though one can debate about their usefulness, they don't seem to contain any copyright violations. - I apologize for this BTW. Here is the problem. They don't know to go to the "Journal" article. As you know people do a search for content usually not for a direct topic name. So if they were say looking for more information on images of LGBTQ+ people in contemporary media, they would not think to find something called "Journal of Bisexuality" and then click thru each year, then look thru each volume in each year and only then find some useful articles. And I'm using a current topic being done by a smart and web savvy post-grad researcher as an example. And she had no idea it existed. BiAndBi (talk) 15:38, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, I just read the message you left on my talk page regarding vandalism reverts in the Torie Osborn article. To be honest, if you want to know why that editor reverted your edits as vandalism, you would be better off asking that editor than asking me since I'm not the one who reverted your edits. I took a look at the article anyways to see the edits you were talking about, this one [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Torie_Osborn&diff=490235097&oldid=490234766] looks like you had some manual of style errors in your citations, which easily could have been fixed like I did to a previous edit you made, so that one is not even close to being vandalism. The other edit [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Torie_Osborn&diff=490235192&oldid=490235097] removed the tags at the top, stating in edit summary "issues addressed so tags removed" when there were more problems with the article than just needing sources, so I would guess that's why that edit was reverted. Still, that edit was made in good faith since you thought you had addressed the issues, so I wouldn't call that vandalism either. It's posible the editor may have just used the wrong summary when reverting, or was frustrated by the fact that the tags in that article were removed multiple times in the last couple of days without all the issues being resolved. Regardless, like I said above, ask that editor, I can only guess a reason, he can tell you exactly why it was done. While looking for these two edits, I did notice that editor has gone through the article and appears to have resolved some of the problems surrounding the tags, but there are still more issues to be dealt with.
