West Wales XV
Been a while since we've been in touch! I'm thinking of doing a small article on the West Wales team which often formed a part of the tourists' itinerary in the amateur era, but I can't find a great deal about it. I know from match details in Rothmans books that it was comprised of players from Llanelli, Swansea and other clubs from west Wales (strangely enough!) but there isn't much else out there. The West Wales rugby union has a website but their membership seems to come from clubs lower down the strata and doesn't have anything about a West Wales invitational / representative XV. Have you got any info or thoughts? All the best. --Bcp67 (talk) 18:41, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
:Thanks for the reply. Plenty of examples from tours around the 60s, 70s and 80s - they played the All Blacks in 67, 72-73 and 78, the Wallabies in 73, 81-82 and others like Argentina 1976. The 1973 Japan team played Western Counties (Wales). I'm thinking of writing something along the lines of "The West Wales rugby union team was an invitational team which played against teams overseas which were touring Wales" or similar. --Bcp67 (talk) 20:32, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks!
...for the barnstar. Welsh history wasn't previously "my thing" but I stumbled across some redlinks which I thought might be interesting to fill out and they suggested a couple of further articles to me. Would be interested in your view on another article I've been thinking about doing: Conquest of Wales is just a re-direct to Statute of Rhuddlan, which doesn't seem appropriate. I can't find any article which covers Edwardian Conquest of Wales, and while there is Norman invasion of Wales, there isn't an overview article that summarizes that and the Edwardian Conquest. I've been trying to establish if any of these would dupplicate existing articles, and I'm not seeing any. I can't see anything between Wales in the Early Middle Ages and Wales in the Late Middle Ages, other than the Norman Invasion article and History of Gwynedd during the High Middle Ages which might partially cover it. What would you think of new articles Conquest of Wales and Edwardian Conquest of Wales? DeCausa (talk) 09:45, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
