We moved from 2024 to 2025, with new calendar pictures and new music. The topic of Bach's chorale cantatas will keep me busy until 25 March, and then I want to focus on performances more generally, in history and in my experience. You can follow my daily stories, User Gerda Arendt/Top, often with an image and something to listen to: let's stay inspired and connected. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:57, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Ongoing efforts regard locations that played a role in my life, recent deaths, music heard and sung, composers, gardens. Watch my user page for articles, done in collaboration. Compare 2024 for the amazing number of users who began and expanded articles. Thanks also to reviewers, and I do plan to review more and write less, and in writing, focus more on quality than the little daily article.

2025 calender pics and musical events begin here, and the 2025 diary of my own pictures of places, songs, food, flowers is here, - just watch those lists if you are interested.

My talk goes like this: on top there's the "story" related to the day. Below are three or more boxes, often one for people remembered and others for musical experiences, performing or listening. In these boxes, topics related to the top story and topics featured on the Main page appear bold. Right here you see the image of the month with songs of the month, typically related to friends who gave them to me, on their birthdays or when meeting them. I archive from time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:25, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben, BWV 8
The article Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben, BWV 8 you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold File:Symbol wait.svg. The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben, BWV 8 and Talk:Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben, BWV 8/GA1 for issues which need to be addressed. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Aza24 -- Aza24 (talk) 00:24, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

: Aza24, thank you for the thorough review. I understand that in order to make Bach's chorale cantatas a good topic, this cantata - as part of it - has to be a good article, and I am willing to put work into it to make it so. However, right now I'm working simultaneously on several others with the same goal, and they require less work. I see me getting to serious changes for BWV 8 after the others, which will be in February. (The only one written later, BWV 1, is already a FA.) I'll make small changes now, perhaps today, but will then have to ask if the nom should remain open for longer or be closed and started over when I'm ready. Y'all: any help with this one and the others - making changes or reviewing - is welcome, see above, #calling for collaboration. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:06, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Articles of people who recently died have been a focus from 2019. in 2025, they have been a daily topic, both on the Main page were Helmut Schlesinger appeared from 31 January until 5 January, but also in the daily little articles, with the one exception of a Sunday. Not all of them made it to Main page appearance, but were at least improved. Storye book is great in finding images, MONTENSEM in polishing composers' articles, Thriley in translating to begin articles for people with red links, Grimes2 all around helpful in finding and exploiting references, and several excellent in posting (just look belpw). 7 March 2025, Ravel’s 150th anniversary

Hi! I’ve seen you around a couple of times from some discussions that you have had with others and noticed that you love classical music! I’d thought that I would share with you my love for Maurice Ravel (my number one favorite composer for several years). I listened to several concerts this year dedicated to his 150th anniversary: pieces included La valse, Boléro, Introduction and Allegro, etc., all very wonderful pieces. Tfess up?or down? 01:01, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

: Thank you. I thought of it and brought him to the main page at least by mentioning his name. I will write my story about one of his pieces, Trois Chansons (Ravel), created on 7 March 2019. (I had meant to use the Introduction and Allegro, in which I was involved a bit in 2011.) I want to create a new article on the occasion, Tout est lumière. Nice to meet you and your love! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:32, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

:Thank you for responding! Trois Chansons? I’ll need to check that out, haha. And I’ve seen you around on user talk pages sharing some works of music, etc., so that was how I found out about you. Very sweet of you! (I was into Wikipedia editing for only 5-6 years so I’m a little bit of a newbie.) Tfess up?or down? 14:22, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

:: Go ahead, check out. When I came across the Trois Chansons I was intrigued by his response to war: write something light, in your tradition, strengthening identity. hi, checking in to ask what to do with the revert on the article for Mirella Freni. what do you mean by "citation style", that was badly executed? the moving the entries between reflit and prose or the formatting or something else? asking this in good faith to help improve the article as well! History of Christianity

Gerda, would you do me a huge favor and go review the After WWII section of the article? I was accused of bias for what seems to me like refusing to misrepresent what the sources actually say. If I am wrong, I need to change that, but I can't see it, so I need an objective opinion. You don't need to review the whole article, and that section is relatively short, so it shouldn't take too long, and I would be very grateful. Thank you! Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:39, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Musically literate intervention needed on Vexations

Dear Gerda! I hope you are well and having a lovely late April!

It's 0200 for me and I've stumbled on a potential terrible content problem, but I don't have the knowledge (or ability to stay awake right now on a work day) to fix it.

Per the BBC, someone is about to embark on a rare performance of Satie's Vexations. I know your interests lie far away from Satie, but our article regarding this composition is frightful and I shudder to think how news media may believe it is worthy of being quoted as authoritative. The entire "Meaning" section is insensible WP:OR and "History" isn't much better. But I don't really know what I'm looking at here in terms of the few instances of sourcing and whether any of them are sufficiently reliable to warrant NOT just deleting the entire "History" section. I'm just a trademark lawyer who edits food articles! (And who really needs to go to sleep for four hours!)

If anyone I know here is going to be able to figure this out, or have talk-page readers who may chop away at it themselves, it's you! Hence my late-night (in Nevada) plea on behalf of the encyclopedia, with much gratitude. Thanks SO much in advance! Julietdeltalima (talk) 09:06, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

: Thank you for asking, I'll look. I saw it on my watchlist. I don't know the slightest bit abut the piece, - anybody watching is welcome! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:18, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

: I looked at the history: it's a very old article, with substantial edits by Francis Schonken, and watched by JackofOz and Michael Bednarek, with no major additions lately. Probably it was written before inline citations were required. I'll look further now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:36, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
