I appreciate the work you've done to improve Hydrangea, and I'm sure your work on the many other articles you've touched has been of fine quality as well. Here is an attractive specimen I found on Commons: that I hope will brighten your day. Peace, — coelacan — 11:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
:And I see you're still fairly new, so if you need any advice or anything, feel free to drop by my talk page. Or the WP:help desk if I'm not active. By the way, you might consider uploading your self-made images to the Commons so that people on other-language Wikipedias can find and use them easily. See Commons:Welcome for an intro. Later, — coelacan — 20:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
::I was just doing checking on some of the new articles and there was one for Priscilla Susan Bury. I did some checking and it looks legit, lots of information and in many languages as well... but I can't help thinking that there should be more to this article other then stubbing it. Just wondering what you think because I am not a botanist but you might know someone who would expand on this article.--Pmedema (talk) 18:40, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to [[WP:PLANTS]]!
Thought you might also want to check out WP:BANKSIA. May not be your thing, but there's a good group of editors over there that can always use a hand. Just another suggestion. I'd join, but being in the USA makes it difficult to obtain sources on Australian plants, especially in journals like Nuytsia, etc. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. Cheers, --Rkitko (talk) 07:18, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Your comment
... at the Banksia epica feature article discussion was removed. The discussion had closed and we leave those pages as is. I put the comment on the talk page of the (now Feature) article where the editors will see it. Hesperian was the main editor, you should introduce yourself. Keep up the good work with the flora contributions. Regards, Fred 10:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
:No need to introduce yourself; many of your edits have come up on my watchlist, especially your distribution maps. Thanks for the comment, and keep up the good work. Hesperian 11:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
:: :-) Hesperian 11:53, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
:::Noticed you comments about the distribution maps on hesps talk page, If you would like any assistance just ask. Gnangarra 13:30, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
::::In case you haven't figured it out already, Gnangarra is the creator of WP:BANKSIA's distribution maps. Hesperian 11:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
re:Eucalypts
The point is that it is meaningless to say that a forest tree has a canopy cover of >30%. Any tree has a canopy cover of 100%, simply because the canopy of a single tree occupies the entire canopy area by definition. A forest is defined as having a canopy cover of >30% because the canopy of a stand may occupy far less than the total stand area. As such the comment is both inaccurate and misleading. It actually took me a few minutes to work out what was intended by the comment, since at first I assumed it was referring to PFC. The notion of referring to actual canopy cover of an individual tree simply didn't cross my mind because it is a physical impossiblilty. You simply can't define a tree by its canopy area.
If you want to say that forest trees grow in forests, and forests are defined as having X canopy cover then by all means do so, though it seems redundant and it is simpler and clearer to link to the articles on what defines a froest and a woodland as I have done.
I have no idea what Brooker and Kleinig may have written, though I suspect that you have paraphrased them and as such lost both the accuracy and utility of the statement. What exactly does the original text say?
Cheers,

OK. I appreciate that your article is a constructive contribution to the encyclopedia, but ideally before saving the article, you should use the "show preview" button several times until you have created a version that is adequately referenced - then you should save it, to avoid these tags being placed. That's what I do if I'm creating a new article. Thanks.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 11:54, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Plant and Garden wiki
Hi , I'm writing to you because you've edited many of the plant articles. I wanted to let you know about a plants-specific wiki site which you might be interested in contributing to. The site focuses specifically on how to grow any plant. Since Wikipedia is not a how-to, and articles are not allowed to be written as a guide on how to grow plants, two years ago I started http://www.plants.am - a wiki solely to address that topic (much like how wikitravel.org is solely to advise tourists visiting a country or city on their destination).
An example of how the sites differ can be seen immediately by comparing the Wikipedia article on Asparagus, with the Plants.am [http://www.plants.am/wiki/Asparagus Asparagus article]. Many of the articles currently on the site are placeholder articles taken from Wikipedia which are being rewritten from scratch, or [http://www.plants.am/wiki/Xeronema shells] of articles using new templates. However, a core of new articles like the Asparagus article (which still has a lot of room to grow) are being created, and the undertaking is huge. Perhaps you have some materials you can add which are not appropriate for Wikipedia. If you have any questions at all about this new resource, feel free to contact me on my user page here or on [http://www.plants.am/wiki/User_talk:Raffi Plants.am]. Thanks! --RaffiKojian (talk) 15:27, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

|Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar!
