Proposed deletion of Eli Levido

Hello, Sully198787. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Eli Levido, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

 1. edit the page
 2. remove the text that looks like this: proposed deletion/dated...
 3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Replaceable fair use File:Jack De Belin profile image.jpg

File:Ambox warning.svg

Thanks for uploading :File:Jack De Belin profile image.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
 2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on [ this link]. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 23:21, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Politically correct words reply

Hey mate, nothing to do with offensiveness or political incorrectness, just that the terms 'wooden spoon' or 'dropped' might not be immediately understandable to a reader that doesn't have much knowledge of rugby league or the NRL. We try to keep the terminology as general as possible so that anyone will understand the meaning. Phrases like finishing last, or replace/demoted are immediately clear to the reader, whether they are an Australian NRL fan, or a foreigner whose never heard of rugby league. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nimes Olympique logo.jpg

File:Copyright-problem.svg

Thank you for uploading :File:Nimes Olympique logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of :Bob Farrar

A tag has been placed on :Bob Farrar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://thebulldogs.com.au/sportal.php?page=player&id=69. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ways to improve Jim Love (rugby league)

Thanks for creating Jim Love (rugby league).

A New Page Patroller Domdeparis just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

The only source that mentions him is the Rugby League Project and as per the disclaimer on the page "All statistics shown in this section are based only on data available in the RLP database, and are not necessarily a complete and/or 100% accurate representation of a player's career."

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Ben Cummins

I appreciate that it is not vandalism, but we have an issue of WP:Undue with that information. Our guidelines for WP:BLPs are much stricter than for other articles and we require a consensus before we put contested negative information in an article. Cummins has refereed 300 games so drawing undue attention to a single incident in one game violates are principle of applying due weight to an article. There may be a case to add something to the game article as the scope of that article is much tighter than the whole career of a referee. AIRcorn (talk) 10:02, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Beattie

That is not how Wikipedia works: we do not include all content that is factual and has references. Famous people have many trivial stories about them: an article that included every referenced fact about anything the Queen had ever done, for example, would be literal miles long. For people who have had very long periods in public life, we have to pick out the most significant things they've done, good or bad, and not include something a tabloid picked up that they said last week because some editor thinks it makes for a good yarn. Beattie had a parliamentary career of more than twenty years and a reasonably high-profile public life in the decade-and-a-bit since, and our article has to balance all of that. The lead section has too much trivial wank about his extra-parliamentary career as it is (who cares that he guest lectured at some American university, let alone what rank it is?, in fact I'm going to remove that right now). It's always an amazing feature of Wikipedia how often we get called fans of someone who's really a gigantic turd (like Beattie) because even gigantic turds deserve good quality, encyclopedic articles. Category:Rugby league players from Sydney

Hi Sully198787, just a quick question... when you add, e.g. the Category:Rugby league players from Sydney to articles, are you stating that the person was born in Sydney, or that because they have played for a Sydney club they have lived/worked in Sydney, and hence are from Sydney? The reason I ask is that we have 1000+ player articles that are in the Category:Place of birth missing, yet they have a nationality defined, which seems incongruous. While the place has birth does not always define nationality, if that's all we have a reference for, then that's all we have, and playing for the national team of a another country via decent/heritage or residency does not change the nationality of the person to that country of that national team. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 12:33, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

:Hiya DynamoDegsy (talk), is this articles I have created or just in general?. It would probably mean players who were born in Sydney and grew up there and came through juniors etc at a club. I'm not sure if I would have done it for any other reason.Sully198787 (talk) 12:18, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

::Hi, apologies if I came over as being accusatory, that wasn't my intention, as it's for articles in general, and I'm responsible for some, as in my early days for, e.g. England national rugby league team players, I may have added not just the Category:England national rugby league team players, but also the Category:English rugby league players, but luckily the era of Northern hemisphere player articles that I've initiated, the players generally played for their country of birth not descent/residence, and fortunately over time I've found some birth references, though there are exceptions, e.g. Harold Bowman. Of the 1200 player articles that are; Category:Place of birth missing, yet they have a nationality defined, approximately half are Australian, so its whether we have reference(s) so that we can remove the Category:Place of birth missing and add, e.g. Sydney to the 'birth_place' field of the Infobox? You've twice posted this , unsourced and unacceptable content for a BLP. North Sydney Bears edits

I would like to thank you the edits on Wikipedia made about my North Sydney Bears. All of them except the removed Western Bears info was good. Yes, PNG won the 18th license as of now. There are still rumours that PNG will be moved to 19th and the Bears will come in a year before based in Perth. I would suggest changing the category from “Western Bears” to “partnership with Western Australia rugby league”. Yes, it was first rejected, but no, they have not said they are giving up. Also, who put in “where westerners continue to play”? That seemed a bit weird to me. Thanks for changing it from “westerners”to “they” Servite et contribuere (talk) 14:22, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

:I wouldn't change anything until it is actually set in stone that they are returning. There was someone a couple of months ago who changed the entire article solely based off a Fox League article that said the NRL were considering putting a Western Australia/North Sydney team in. I changed it all back at the time. Sully198787 (talk) 14:36, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

::I think it’s best to leave it as it is right now. It doesn’t say that the deal is official, and yes I do know someone changed the whole article, thanks for changing it back back then. It’s also important to keep in mind that this is not a stand alone bid Servite et contribuere (talk) 14:56, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
