Smithsonian trinomial and Mound

See Smithsonian trinomial, per your edit here . Also, per your edit to Mound, when adding info to an article, please WP:CITE it. The Cite needed tag is for tagging information not already cited, not adding information and asking someone else to do the leg work and cite it for you. Please do a little more research before you tag articles. Thank you, Heiro 17:46, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to :Hansen Site, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. This unconstructive edit was not helpful. Hundreds of other archaeological site articles use an archaeological sites name followed by it alternate names and Smithsonian trinomial. Please do not do this again. Thank you. Heiro 09:49, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

:That character string was not cited. It still is not cited. Maybe you know for a fact that the character string is correct. Most of us don't. --The long road homw (talk) 10:06, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

::That character string is correct, see pg 526, this cite is used for the article. Do some legwork of the cites and WP:AGF a little please. Heiro 10:16, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

:::You did some legwork by finding a reference. I did some legwork by using that reference to site the character string in the article. Have a nice day! --The long road homw (talk) 10:30, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at :Hansen Site. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

 • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
 • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.

:Per . Continue in your WP:POINTY behavior and your little WP:EDITWAR and I will take this matter to the appropriate admin board. Heiro 16:58, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Image:Ambox warning pn.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on :Hansen Site. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

 1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
 2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Per this , knock off the WP:DISRUPTION and WP:POINTY behavior. Consider this a final warning on the matter, repeat the behavior and I will take this to the edit war admin board next time.

Citing page 5 multiple times, and page 17 multiple times

I want to cite from a book. Page 17 i want to cite multiple times in the article. I want to do the same with page 5. (For page 5, "ref name" has been choses as "Guidebook"

)

When I only cite page 5, then the following citation functions,

<

ref name=Guidebook>

<

/ref>

Comment: The first- and the last five characters of the programming, have some spacing between characters, so that I am able to display the programming (on this talk page).

The article that i am editing, is Kition.helpme-helped --The long road homw (talk) 20:16, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

I think this may help:

 • This will cite to page 5
 • This will cite to page 17

Notice the differences in the two? Specifically the ref name = part. I removed some of the generic bluelinks, these links should only go to specific entities, i.e. Flourentzos should link to an article about this specific person, not just the word Flourentzos, and the Minsitry should link to the specific ministry, not a generic article on Ministries of Communications and works, same for Dept of Antiquities. I hope this helps.

: After you use the full citation the 1st time, use or (instead of the full citation) for each subsequent iteration for that citation. Notice the added backslash character? This will combine the cites to this reference in the reflist section. Heiro 20:47, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Heiro 21:09, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

:Re: your latest act at Hansen Site. Heiro 21:10, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Please use specific categories ("Cyprus" is too general)

Greetings, I see you've added :Category:Cyprus to a number of articles. Please be advised, only the very most general articles should go directly into the main Cyprus category, such as Cyprus and maybe one or two others. Clearly, if every articles about a person, food, town, book, etc. having to do with Cyprus were directly in :Category:Cyprus the category would be huge and unwieldy. Instead, for every category you apply, make sure it's as specific as possible; see WP:Categories if you'd like more details. Thanks! MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:28, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Alykes, Cyprus

Image:Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Alykes, Cyprus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

:there's no town 'Alykes'; Alykes is the endonym for 'salt lakes', the article is Larnaca Salt Lakes

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
