Whareroa Village is a small community north of Kuratau, on Te Hape Bay on the western side of New Zealand's Lake Taupō. A Ngāti Parekāwa pā or village was at Whareroa during the period from 1830 to 1880,{{cite web|url=https://www.taupodc.govt.nz/repository/libraries/id:25026fn3317q9slqygym/hierarchy/Council/Consultation/Whareroa%20North%20Plan%20Change/Incorporation%20Evidence/Archaeology/Attachment%201%20-%20Archaeological%20Assessment.pdf|title=Archaeological Assessment – Whareroa Private Plan Change|first=Siân|last=Keith|date=30 April 2020}}{{rp|8,9,12}}{{cite news|url=https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/OW19051220.2.370?query=Whareroa|newspaper=Otago Witness|date=20 December 1905|title=Through Te Heuheu's Territory}} and likely much earlier. By 1965, there were only a few baches which were built about 60 years earlier. The subdivision of Whareroa Village began in the 1960s.{{rp|11,12}}

Whareroa Village had a population of 45 in the 2023 New Zealand census, an increase of 9 people (25.0%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 9 people (25.0%) since the 2013 census.
