The article says the election was notable but does not have any cites to show notability. The single cite on the Turkish article shows the results but does not show notability. Chidgk1 (talk) 17:20, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep: We don't need citations to know that the election of the mayor of the largest city in Europe is notable. If the nominator is so bothered by the lack of citations, he could have done a quick Google search and added citations instead of wasting the community's time with this AfD. - :Turkish is not my native language and I don’t know whether the mayor at that time had much political power compared to the central government. I would guess they had much less power than, say, the London mayor. So the election is not obviously notable. Chidgk1 (talk) 06:05, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy keep: No sign of a WP:BEFORE from the nominator. The subject is obviously notable. - :@TheJoyfulTentmaker As a native speaker you would know better than me which of those cites supports the statement “The closely fought contest was noticeable in that it helped launch the national political career of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu,” so if you can add one or two after that comma I will withdraw this deletion suggestion Chidgk1 (talk) 06:27, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. It's very important to contain the growth of articles about mayoral elections in various cities. However this had 7 million votes cast, more than double the votes cast in parliamentary elections of certain European countries. Also, per above. Geschichte (talk) 05:13, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
