- Comment. Well, her novel Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line is certainly notable: [https://indianexpress.com/article/express-sunday-eye/djinn-patrol-on-the-purple-line-penguin-random-house-novel-writer-deepa-anappara-6278276/], [https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/books/djinn-patrol-on-the-purple-line-why-deepa-anappara-s-debut-is-about-children-not-for-children-1.979323], [https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/31/books/review/djinn-patrol-on-the-purple-line-deepa-anappara.html], [https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/feb/09/djinn-patrol-on-the-purple-line-deepa-anappara-review], [https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/deepa-anappara-on-being-criticised-for-depicting-indian-poverty-in-her-debut-novel-djinn-patrol-on-the-purple-line-0ml5kr75j], [https://www.npr.org/2020/02/12/803730942/djinn-patrol-captures-the-lost-light-of-india-s-vanished-children]. A number of these sources are already in the article. I also find it puzzling that the nominator states there is {{tq|zero evidence of notability}}, when the article is well-sourced and states that Djinn Patrol was shortlisted for the JCB Prize. Possibly it's a bit WP:TOOSOON for an article on the author and not the book, but as I found all these sources in a two-minute Google search I'm optimistic the author is notable as well. - See Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line. AleatoryPonderings (talk) 14:00, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- Keep in the absence of a guideline or at least an outcome essay saying that multiple novels are required. At this point there is one. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:16, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- Redirect to Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line, since that is notable and we have no evidence she has notability for anything else.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:53, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- Keep or Merge. For authors of a single notable book I don't think we usually need articles for both the author and the book, but I'm happy to keep one or both. pburka (talk) 12:39, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
- :{{u|Pburka}}, Just to clarify: would your merge preference be author -> book or book -> author, in the event this is merged? AleatoryPonderings (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
- ::For practical reasons, I lean towards keeping the author's page. In cases where an author has multiple notable works (but none of them are particularly famous), I think it's better to have a single article for the author and redirect the writer's works to that page (assuming sufficient sources are available to support at least a basic biography). This writer may go on to publish more notable books, and it would be easier to extend the author's page with more works than to split it up in the future. pburka (talk) 19:07, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

- Keep or 'Merge' I think the author meets the standard of notability, but I can also see arguments for merging with the article for her book Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line. Jmbranum (talk) 05:35, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

- Merge to Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line. I tried to find some context where the author is mentioned outside of the book, but I was unable to. Definitely WP:TOOSOON for the author. W42 06:04, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. Meets WP:AUTHOR which does not mandate a count on the number of books. Agree with {{u|Robert McClenon}}. Ktin (talk) 15:07, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- Merge to Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line, notability doesn't extend beyond the book. Eddie891 Talk Work 17:33, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
