The result was redirect‎__EXPECTED_UNCONNECTED_PAGE__ to Kyrgyzstan at the 2012 Summer Olympics#Athletics. There is only one "keep" opinions, and nobody agrees that the sources it links to establish notability. Nobody opposes the redirect WP:ATD. Sandstein 07:39, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

Non-notable athlete. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 15:15, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Delete. No good placements nor any results achieved on a high international level. Essentially a hobby part-time practitioner. Geschichte (talk) 15:39, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Strong keep, if the subject is an athletics Olympian in the post-Internet era, significant coverage will be written about them, which means that !voters ought to do a thorough search for these types of AfDs. If significant coverage exists, it doesn't matter how fast or slow the results are. He has been covered under his native name "Ержан Аскаров" in [https://sport.kg/other/olympic-games/5347-erzhan-askarov-prishel-poslednim.html] (readers from more than 100 countries), [https://knews.kg/2012/08/06/legkoatlet-erjan-askarov-vyibyil-s-olimpiadyi-2012-posle-pervogo-zabega/], [https://rus.azattyk.org/a/kyrgyzstan_sport_london_kyrgyz_teams/24650915.html], [https://arch.24.kg/sport/134298-kyrgyzstanec-erzhan-askarov-zanyal-poslednee.html] (use webarchive), etc. --Habst (talk) 13:20, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: the above commenter has demonstrated time and time again a lack of understanding on the difference between significant and non-significant coverage. sport.kg is not significant coverage. knews.kg is even less significant coverage - it's two sentences! azattyk.org is not significant coverage, it's 21 words. The attempt to dump such sources in AFDs and pass them for something they are not, should not be condoned. Geschichte (talk) 20:39, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
  • :@Geschichte, I greatly respect your work on sportsperson articles and want to come to a shared understanding so we aren't talking past each other. Per WP:BASIC which allows for combining coverage, even by your admission we have 21 words + 2 sentences + the sport.kg coverage + the 24.kg coverage, which amounts to at least a solid paragraph of known coverage in a language that we don't understand (= probably more extant sources available to those who speak the language).
  • :Based the notability guidelines and existing practice, that seems like a pretty clear keep rationale? I'm open to other ideas and will change my !vote if there's some indication that there isn't anything else out there. --Habst (talk) 02:07, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Delete not convinced by new sources mentioned above. Fails WP:SPORTSCRIT and WP:NOLY. LibStar (talk) 02:19, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Delete. A few sentences in routine announcements, most basically saying the same thing, scattered among a handful of sources is most certainly not enough for BASIC and definitively fails SPORTSCRIT. JoelleJay (talk) 06:25, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Redirect to Kyrgyzstan at the 2012 Summer Olympics#Athletics, where the subject is mentioned. I am not convinced the sources provided allow a pass of WP:GNG or WP:NATH/WP:NOLY. Frank Anchor 14:32, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Redirect to Kyrgyzstan at the 2012 Summer Olympics#Athletics as a valid ATD. --Enos733 (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Comment A redirect to the event the subject participated in (or the nation state's page in limited instance) should be an appropriate outcome for all Olympians. --Enos733 (talk) 20:26, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
  • :@Enos733 , is this a !vote for redirect rather than a comment? LibStar (talk) 22:20, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
  • ::It is a comment since I have a bolded !vote above. I think the closing administrator for Olympians should default redirect > delete if there is no consensus to keep a stand-alone page, especially if an editor provides a valid redirect target. - Enos733 (talk) 22:56, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
