I'd appreciate some input on this. There is an appeal to remove this site from the blacklist on Meta. The request (if there was one) was never logged nor is there anything in the archives. Any information from here would be useful.

COIBot does not have any records on the link, but the bot will be monitoring for some time. As there are no active records on the spamming, I'd approve removal from the blacklist. :I have planned a rewrite of COIBot so that it searches the results of the linkwatchers that I am running, which should give more extended results. The bots (watching 722 wikis) do use a lot of processor time on the MySQL deamons (still handleable by the computer I am running the watchers on). :I have now rewritten COIBot so it can also source the linkwatchers databases for the linkwatchers I am running (from now on we will be running them as continuously as possible). The LinkReports it generates include now searches for that (so it looks backwards as well now).

Here is a list of link farms as of mid November or so. There are over 2,000 articles with link farms. I'm considering anything with an external links section with more then 20 links in that section a link farm. Its a large list, and if folks wish to put the list on multiple pages (perhaps in groups of 500 or so) feel free. The entries link first to the current page, as it is now, and in ()'s there is a link to the revision as the program saw it. The worst cases are at the bottom.

The rule \bblogspot\.com is (currently) not on COIBot's monitorlist. Some of the sub-domains have been added via WT:WPSPAM, or have been caught by the automonitoring of COIBot (mainly because the name of the editor is the same as the name of the subdomain on blogspot.com).

Still, a linksearch on the resolved IP of blogspot.com (72.14.207.191) results in a mere 118 results (all COIBot linkreports)! Often the multiple use of the single subdomains is not a cause for blacklisting, as they may only have been used once or twice. Also, I suspect there are tens of thousands of blogspot sub-domains out there, but these are only the links that are caught because the wiki username overlaps with the domainname of the subdomain (or have been reported here). Would this cumulative behaviour warrant blacklisting of \bblogspot\.com .. here, or even on meta? --Dirk Beetstra ^{T C} 12:37, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

This may be a bit off-topic here. The last half of the public-access television article is a large directory of external links to various stations. It ends with about a screenfull of what appears to be indiscriminate links. The page "owner" seems to want to protect things as they are (and is a founder of one or more of the stations listed), but I haven't pushed too hard. Hi, all. If this isn't the right place for this... I'd be happy to take it where it belongs. I have been removing some spam (and leaving some spam that I wasn't sure about) from the external links section of Juicer. Now I have a user with one edit asking me why I deleted his links and left other spammy links in there ([http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Juicer&curid=283610&diff=176443438&oldid=176429427 on my talk page]). Could someone please check out the external links section of Juicer and give me an honest take on the links there? I'm not sure which (if any) are salvageable. On 19:21, 4 December 2007 he returned to the Sleep_hyperhidrosis page and again removed a link to a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to this field. I think this may be a case of trying to reduce exposure of alternative sites to the one that he has been spamming. He earlier replaced the link to this non-profit with a spam-link to megadry and this action was regarded by Voyagerfan5761 as vandalism.

Some points:

• The IP account has a clear conflict of interest, the IP is registered to ARC
• The name ArcInfo suggest also a conflict of interest, and arcinfo is active/created just shortly after the IP, suggesting that the IP-user created that account (no proof here).
• These 2 accounts perform link-additions only.
• The use of {{tl|cite web}} does suggest that the editors have worked more on wikipedia, or are very fast learners.
• There are only two links to this domain not added by these accounts, one on the page of the organisation, one added by another IP account outside of the range (interestingly, not too far away from 213.83.109.90; IP 213.42.21.156, [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rheumatoid_arthritis&diff=157574854&oldid=157495027 diff], adding the same text as 213.83.109.90 and arcinfo). If the link is really that useful, then more uninvolved editors would have used it.
• The accounts do not discuss when pointed that way, a block to remind them that their unilateral additions are considered spamming here, and to promote discussion seems appropriate, I would suggest 24/31 hours.
• Adding a discussion to the talkpages with a reason why the links might be useful to add to the page takes just as much time as adding the link to the page yourself.
• Or, if the links are really useful, then I would suggest that these accounts contact an appropriate wikiproject, and when the wikiproject endorses their edits, then they can add the link.
• The account can be blocked because of the username.

You are of course free to re-insert them, if you really think they are useful, though they might serve better as a reference (that seems to have been the faith of the external link 213.42.21.156 has added as well), and there are on some of the pages already quite some external links (e.g. Osteoarthritis now contains 13, which is arguably more than 'a few'). I am brand new to editing just started looking at updating the Neuroblastoma article a few days ago. I checked the history and saw that a few inappropriate links have been repeatedly added and removed only to be added again. Looks like different users/IP have been adding these links. The links are to [http://www.alexslemonade.org Alex Lemonade Stand] which is a non-profit to raise money for pediatric cancer research, but has no information about neuroblastoma, and the other is [http://www.postpals.co.uk Post Pals] which encourages messages sent to sick children, also with no information about neuroblastoma. Another one is called [http://www.loneliesthour.org/ Loneliest Hour] which does have some basic information aimed at parents of newly diagnosed children.

I first posted this to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Arcadian#External_Links Arcadian's talk page] since I saw that he had removed the links also, and he encouraged me to report it here since the removed links keep reappearing.

I added a link to a series of videos presented by neuroblastoma researchers. This conference is hosted by a non-profit that also raises money specifically for neuroblastoma, and the 2007 videos are forthcoming. Is this link appropriate? [http://cncf-childcancer.org/NBConference2005_32.aspx 2005 Chicago Neuroblastoma Conference] Arcadian recommended I get more outside opinions on this.

foodreference.com is an adsense (pub-2708377307028180) site with additional promotional material on the margins that is linked to about 40 articles. I have not determined that there is an organized effort to add links to the site. Some have been good-faith additions. My rule of thumb is to remove links to recipes on the basis of Wikipedia is not a how-to or link repository. Some of the site's pages are not recipes but provide so little content as to be unhelpful. Perhaps others want to look through the list of links:

User T3nk1r added his spam to an article, and user JoeLevel created three "free xbox" redirects to that article, then added the same referral spam to an additional article.

I tagged the redirects db-spam, but the tag was removed as the redirects aren't themselves "blatant spam".. I'm fairly certain however, that they will lead to further referral spamming on the target article.

I disagree that linking to ODP and Yahoo is a solution, because many Website in ODP are not up to date, and erroniously reperesnt the categoru. One solution is to statrt making exclussion domains list. Okay a domain is put in WikiPedia and is deleted 3 times it goes into an WikiPedia SBL and cannot be added to WikiPedia. We have to take cuation not to add domains that are still in WikiPedia but added to a new article and have been removed from that article for what ever reason, but not for Spamming. The reason using ODP and Yahoo is no good, because it is not Authoritative, we are not a search engine, but human editors, who check the domain notability to the article at hand.

After I deleted a link to a city-data.com sub-page as spam, a user posted [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3ADalbury&diff=178609920&oldid=178602478 this] on my talk page. There are currently six WP articles on cities linking to various sub-pages of the site. There are six articles linking to city-data.com and 2,487 articles linking to www.city-data.com. ::No major recent activity to warent a blacklisting IMHO, however as I mentioned there were only a handful of legit additions. Went through them all, and think I counted four or five established editors and two ip's unassociated with the above adding in good faith. I think 3 links are use as used as references. Those IP's represent spam only additions, and its obviously Alex or a limited few meatpuppets. I do believe all the contributions by the above IPs should be removed and perhaps replaced with a "See also" link to the wiki page cut-the-knot. I am not closed to blacklisting being discussed or an option, due to the shear magnitude of a WP:SPAMHOLE Alex created all over the project. I believe his last statement under his account was..
