Yigal Bashan ({{langx|he|יגאל בשן}}{{lrm}}; 11 September 1950 – 9 December 2018) was an Israeli singer-songwriter, and actor. He was awarded the ACUM Prize for Life Achievement in 2016.
Early life
Born Yigal Bashari ({{lang|he|יגאל בשארי}}) in Rishon LeZion, Israel, to a family of Mizrahi Jewish (Yemenite-Jewish) descent.{{Cite web|url=https://www.yigalbashan.com/bio|title = +ביוגרפיה}}
Music career
Yigal Bashan began his career by forming a duo with Shlomit Aharon. His military service in the Northern Command Band contributed to his musical development. Bashan's solo career post-military featured a fusion of Western and Israeli musical styles, resulting in multiple hit songs
Bashan was a member of the pop trio "Kmo Tzoanim" (Hebrew: "Like Gypsies") that appeared on the "Hopa Hey" Israeli children's television show,{{cite news|url=https://www.haaretz.com/obituaries/.premium-yigal-bashan-beloved-israeli-musician-found-dead-at-home-1.6727408|title=Yigal Bashan, beloved Israeli musician, found dead at home|date=10 December 2018|first=Ido Efrati|last=Maya Asheri|publisher=Haaretz|access-date=13 December 2018}} where he collaborated with Yonathan Miller, Uzi Hitman and Tzipi Shavit. Death
In the last few years of his life, Bashan developed clinical depression after dealing with chronic pain. On 9 December 2018, Bashan committed suicide in his home in Tel Aviv. He was 68 years old.
