I love seeing that little bar that says "You have new messages."

However, I do ask that you follow some guidelines when leaving me a message:

1. Please be civil.

2. Please sign your messages by typing ~~~~ or by using the edit toolbar. The automated signature button is the one to the right of the crossed out "W".

If I feel that a response is needed (which is usual), I will do my best to reply within 24 hours.

Please understand if I do not respond immediately. Also please be understanding if I do not answer your message in the order that it was received.

Last of all, if you can answer these questions, please do so: Did Lenn really fly to the moon in the belly of an eagle made of fire? Did he truly have a daughter named Salya who walked among the stars? Was Asbet really the queen of all? Did the giants, Mosk and Merk, really fight with spears of fire? It would be very much appreciated! Also, if it is spelled wrong please tell me! :)

I will ordinarily answer on your talk page, unless requested to do otherwise. Thank you!

:) —Randfan!!

AfD nomination of Grand Convocation Chamber

Image:Ambox warning pn.svgI have nominated Grand Convocation Chamber, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grand Convocation Chamber. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{tl|motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Novels Roll Call

Image:Book collection.jpg

WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!

Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 18:47, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

; Novel-related news

  • Devil May Care, written by Sebastian Faulks ("writing as Ian Fleming"), has become Penguin Books fastest selling hardcover fiction title. It is the latest installment in the book series about British secret agent James Bond and was released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of late Bond creator Ian Fleming's birthday on May 28, 1908.
  • Me Cheeta: the Autobiography, written by a ghostwriter, is the autobiography of Cheeta the Chimp who is listed in the Guinness World Records as the oldest recorded non-human primate at the age of 76. He has appeared in various movie roles which included twelve Tarzan movies and even battled addiction to alcohol and cigars. The book is not published until October 1, but judges for the 2008 Guardian First Book Award were sent a early version and were so impressed that they have included it on the 10-strong longlist.
  • Stephenie Meyer, who is listed by Time magazine as one of its 100 most influential people of 2008, has decided not to continue with writing her draft for Midnight Sun after 12 chapters of the unfinished manuscript were leaked on the internet.
valign="top" style="border: 1px gray solid; padding: 1em;" |

; Current debates

  • Categories for Discussion has a series of discussions about whether to categorize certain specific types of fictional characters: double agents, dictators, characters with eidetic memory, etc. Advice from any Novels project members would be valuable in assisting them.
  • WikiProject Media franchises aims to help editors with the coordination of articles within the thousands of media franchises which exist and has requested input from our members. They are currently discussing a naming convention for franchise articles. Since this may affect one or more articles in our Novel project, they would like to get opinions before implimenting any changes.

With the Newsletter being almost three months overdue, I have decided to take on the position of Editor to make sure it reaches you regularly on time each month. The Newsletter is meant to inspire and encourage our team of Editors and so my goal shall be to make it informative and interesting each issue.

We now have many positions vacant in our Project Team, so we are looking for members who have the time and interest to take on the various roles, details of which can be found at the Job Centre. Shortly a Coordinator nominations notice shall also be sent out to all members, which will commence the annual Coordinator selection process.

Next month's Newsletter will include a message from our Coordinator Maria, who will introduce herself and speak on our forthcoming elections for extra Coordinators.

; Members in Focus

  • Hello, I am a school librarian in my ‘real life’ and so I use Wikipedia a lot with students ageing from twelve to eighteen. While helping students research various topics I’ve run across many holes in Wikipedia that need to be filled so I created an account and began editing pieces. I’m taking a break from teaching for a few years while I raise two boys of my own, so I created a personal account a couple months ago and am focusing on editing articles on literature as well as the upper Midwest area of the United States and theatre. I enjoy all forms of literature but most often read fantasy and mystery. I am an occasional editor with no intent to run for any post; instead, I look at one or two articles a month that need help and do what I can. My public library system allows home access to a number of academic and professional databases, which is where I find most of my sources. Finally, I am currently working on filling in some of the red links on the Newbery Medal page and then hope to turn the stubs into full articles. Anyone want to help? I'd be interested in starting a Award Winners workgroup. I am also active in the WikiProject Biography and in the Children and Young Adult Literature WikiProject. They all have areas of focus that compliment each other and my interests.

I was approached after the last newsletter by somebody who wanted to reach out to some of the readers, so here we are – Alan16(talk).

  • Hi all, the Sword of Truth Task Force is restarting to clean up the articles related to Terry Goodkind's books and there adaptations. With the new TV series, The Legend of the Seeker, the books and the TV show are getting more critical attention, which means more real world material to document this great series of book. I would love to have other's help, as I have only just recently joined to find no other active members. The other members, as listed, have mostly left Wikipedia or removed themselves from the task force. If you are interested I would love to talk at the forum: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sword of Truth/General Forum, or send me a message. Hope to talk to some of you soon, SADADS (talk).

Nice one!

Heh, nice header on your user talk (one of your archives), tricked me. :) I'm going to bed now, so I won't be here if you ask me a question or something.--Cubs197 (talk) 05:23, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

MOTDs ([[Wikipedia:MOTD|This space for rent]])

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:09, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

[[Wikipedia:Motto of the day|Motto of the Day]] Help Request April 2014

{{Motd}}

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

:This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
