{{Main|Interprovincial migration in Canada}}
Interprovincial migration has long been a demographic challenge for Saskatchewan, and it was often said that "Saskatchewan's most valuable export [was] its young people".{{Cite book|title=Interprovincial Migration – in the Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan|last=Elliot|first=Doug|publisher=Canadian Plains Research Center, University of Regina|year=2005|location=Regina|pages=483–484}} The trend reversed in 2006 as the nascent oil fracking industry started growing in the province, but returned to negative net migration starting in 2013.
