In February 2013, GMA Network conducted field tests of digital broadcast using the Japanese standard ISDB-T in digital television on UHF Channel 27 (551.143 MHz), remaining unconvinced saying "European standard DVB-T2 is superior to ISDB-T."{{cite web |url=https://technology.inquirer.net/23271/gma-network-continues-to-reject-japanese-digital-tv-standard |title=GMA Network continues to reject Japanese digital TV standard |work=Inquirer.net |date=February 22, 2013 |access-date=August 2, 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160503111653/http://technology.inquirer.net/23271/gma-network-continues-to-reject-japanese-digital-tv-standard |archive-date=May 3, 2016 |url-status=live}} In October 2013, the NTC issued a draft memorandum to adopt the Japanese/Brazilian standard as the sole standard in the delivery of digital terrestrial television (DTT) services in the Philippines.{{cite web |last=Amojelar |first=Darwin G. |url=http://www.interaksyon.com/business/72584/philippines-adopts-japan-standard-for-digital-tv |title=Philippines adopts Japan standard for digital TV |work=Interaksyon |date=October 11, 2013 |access-date=August 2, 2016 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160302091844/http://www.interaksyon.com/business/72584/philippines-adopts-japan-standard-for-digital-tv |archive-date=March 2, 2016 }}
On May 15, 2019, GMA's digital broadcast was moved to its permanent frequency on Channel 15, due to its former frequency, Channel 27 being used by GMA News TV on June 4, 2019, as a deal between GMA and ZOE Broadcasting Network terminated, resulting to the channel's former frequency Channel 11 became silent on June 5, 2019 (which later became A2Z since October 10, 2020).{{cite web | url=https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/money/companies/694513/gma-network-starts-digital-tv-transmission-using-permanent-frequency/ | title=GMA Network Starts Digital TV Transmission using permanent frequency | work=GMA Network.com | date=May 15, 2019 | access-date=May 15, 2019 | author=Jon Viktor D.
