Specifications

The Mate X has an 8-inch OLED display that can fold outwards resulting in a 6.6-inch main display and a 6.38-inch rear display.{{cite web | last=Sin | first=Ben | title=First Look At Huawei's Foldable 5G Phone, The Mate X | website=Forbes | date=February 24, 2019 | url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/2019/02/24/first-look-at-huaweis-foldable-5g-phone-the-mate-x/ | access-date=March 9, 2019 | archive-date=January 13, 2020 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200113180550/https://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/2019/02/24/first-look-at-huaweis-foldable-5g-phone-the-mate-x/ | url-status=live }} The screen is covered by plastic and is secured by a push-button latch when closed. It uses the Kirin 980 and has 8 GB of RAM with 512 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The latter is expandable up to 256 GB via Huawei's proprietary Nano Memory. The device contains two batteries split between the two halves, totaling a 4500 mAh capacity, and can quick charge at 55W.
The Mate X has a bar situated on the right side of the device with four cameras and an LED flash on the back, the power button/fingerprint sensor on the left side and a USB-C port on the bottom. The cameras include a 40 MP main lens, a 16 MP wide-angle lens, an 8 MP telephoto lens and a time-of-flight sensor. The bar is roughly twice as thick as the rest of the device, giving the user a grip to hold it. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, it comes standard with 5G enabled by Huawei's own Balong 5000 modem.{{cite web | last=Dolcourt | first=Jessica | title=Galaxy Fold vs. Huawei Mate X: Battle of the foldable phones | website=CNET | date=March 7, 2019 | url=https://www.cnet.com/news/galaxy-fold-versus-huawei-mate-x-foldable-phones-battle/ | access-date=March 9, 2019 | archive-date=March 8, 2019 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190308020955/https://www.cnet.com/news/galaxy-fold-versus-huawei-mate-x-foldable-phones-battle/ | url-status=live }}{{cite web | last=Savov | first=Vlad | title=Huawei's Mate X foldable phone is a thinner 5G rival to the Galaxy Fold | website=The Verge | date=February 24, 2019 | url=https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/24/18238269/huawei-foldable-phone-mate-x-price-release-date-specs-mwc-2019 | access-date=March 9, 2019 | archive-date=February 24, 2019 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190224143111/https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/24/18238269/huawei-foldable-phone-mate-x-price-release-date-specs-mwc-2019 | url-status=live }}{{Cite web|url=https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/02/move-over-samsung-huaweis-foldable-smartphone-is-an-absolute-stunner/|title=Move over Samsung, Huawei's foldable smartphone is an absolute stunner|work=Ars Technica|last=Amadeo|first=Ron|date=24 February 2019|access-date=24 February 2019|archive-date=11 August 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190811022337/https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/02/move-over-samsung-huaweis-foldable-smartphone-is-an-absolute-stunner/|url-status=live}}
