List of diplomatic missions of Angola

This is a list of diplomatic missions of Angola.
Most of Angola's diplomatic and consular missions are concentrated in neighboring countries of Central and Southern Africa, as well as in European countries that host considerable diaspora communities. As a former possession of the Portuguese Empire for nearly 400 years - first as a colony, then as an overseas province, and finally as a federated state prior to independence in 1975 - Angola has resident missions in all member-states of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. As such, it is one of the few countries to maintain resident missions in Timor-Leste and Macau.
This listing does not include honorary consulates or trade offices.
History
In October 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola (MIREX) closed a number of diplomatic missions, citing budget cuts as the reason. These included the embassies in Athens, Mexico City, and Ottawa; the mission to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in Lisbon; and consulates-general in Los Angeles, Durban, Faro, and Frankfurt.{{cite news |url=https://www.balglobal.com/bal-news/eight-angolan-embassies-consulates-to-close/ |title=Eight Angolan embassies, consulates to close |publisher=BAL Global |date=23 October 2018 |access-date=3 May 2021}}
Despite these closures, MIREX slowly expanded the Angolan diplomatic network by opening embassies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2021;{{cite web |url=https://www.arabnews.com/node/1979271/saudi-arabia |title=DiplomaticQuarter: Angola opens Embassy in Riyadh to strengthen bilateral ties |date=December 2021}} in Dakar, Senegal; in 2022;{{cite web |url=https://governo.gov.ao/ao/noticias/cooperacao-bilateral-2-2-2/ |title=Presidente da República Recebe Ministra dos Negócios Estrangeiros do Senegal |website=governo.gov.ao |lang=pt |date=20 January 2022 |access-date=19 February 2022 |archive-date=18 February 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220218170724/https://governo.gov.ao/ao/noticias/cooperacao-bilateral-2-2-2/ |url-status=dead }} and in Doha, Qatar, in 2023.{{cite web |url=https://www.jornaldeangola.ao/ao/noticias/inaugurada-embaixada-de-angola-no-qatar |title=Inaugurada Embaixada de Angola no Qatar |trans-title=Embassy of Angola in Qatar Inaugurated |agency=Jornal de Angola |lang=pt |date=2 March 2023 |access-date=3 March 2023}} Consulates-general were also opened in Istanbul, Turkey, and in Toronto, Canada, in 2023.{{cite news |url=https://avozdeportugal.com/abertura-do-novo-consulado-de-angola-em-toronto/ |title=Abertura do Novo Consulado de Angola em Toronto |trans-title=Opening of New Consulate of Angola in Toronto |lang=pt |website=A Voz de Portugal |access-date=19 August 2024}}{{cite news |url=https://www.africa-press.net/angola/all-news/angola-inaugurates-consulate-general-in-istanbul |title=Angola inaugurates Consulate General in Istanbul |website=A Voz de Portugal |date=30 July 2023 |access-date=2 May 2025}}
2024 saw the largest expansion of the Angolan diplomatic network. In July, MIREX announced the opening of four embassies, in Canberra, Australia; Dili, Timor-Leste; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Oslo, Norway. On the other hand, MIREX announced the closure of the embassy in Singapore, and the transfer of its ambassador to the embassy in Manila, Philippines, which had heretofore been led by a chargé d'affaires.{{cite web |url=https://www.jornaldeangola.ao/ao/noticias/ministerio-das-relacoes-exteriores-anuncia-abertura-de-quatro-embaixadas/ |title=Ministério das Relações Exteriores anuncia abertura de quatro embaixadas |trans-title=Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the opening of four embassies |agency=Jornal de Angola |lang=pt |date=2 July 2024 |access-date=21 August 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240702104837/https://www.jornaldeangola.ao/ao/noticias/ministerio-das-relacoes-exteriores-anuncia-abertura-de-quatro-embaixadas/ |archive-date=2 July 2024}}{{cite web |title=Foreign Embassies |url=https://www.dfa.gov.ph/office-of-protocol/foreign-embassies |publisher=Department of Foreign Affairs (Philippines) |access-date=24 November 2023 |archive-date=25 August 2020 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200825020230/https://www.dfa.gov.ph/office-of-protocol/foreign-embassies |url-status=dead }}
