About your user page...

Your page is incredibly interesting! I can see you're into a lot of specific things about history and the middle ages and eras like that. It's also very cool that you are into Paganism - I have been doing some research on it lately, so it's quite fun for me to see someone who shares the very same religious beliefs as the ones I have read about.

As for your love for Gaelic culture and the Celts (and also the fact you mention your interests in local history), I can only assume that you are also from the island of Ireland? I live in the North personally, so I'm not very far away from you.

Hopefully I see you around Wikipedia during my travels. Cheers!

D2kZ (talk) 04:39, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

:Thank you for your kind message! It's lovely to find someone with similar interests. I actually don't live in Ireland (I live in Wisconsin) but I'm moving to Galway next year for university, to study Celtic civilization and archaeology. I'm also not personally pagan, but I find it absolutely fascinating and love reading about pre-Christian religion. Anyways, I also hope to see you around while editing, and if you have any questions or need help, you can ask me or post a message at the Teahouse. Happy editing! :) sawyer * he/they * talk 05:21, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Generalissima}}, who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|AirshipJungleman29}}, with one FA on Hö'elün, two GAs on Mongolia-related articles, and two DYKs;
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Vami IV}}, with one FA on Doom (2016 video game), one GA on Boundary Fire (2017), and 11 reviews;
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|MaranoFan}}, with one FA on Holidays (Meghan Trainor song), a nine-article FT on 30 (album), and two DYKs;
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Skyshifter}}, with one FA on OneShot and one DYK;
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Sammi Brie}}, with five GAs and five DYKs on television and radio stations;
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|voorts}} and {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Elli}}, both with one FA and one DYK each.

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges ({{User|Cwmhiraeth}}, {{User|Epicgenius}}, and {{User|Frostly}}) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Category - Church of Wales Church buildings in Gwent

Can I ask why you are putting buildings into a geographic category that no longer exists? Gwent has no geographic/governmental existence, it's a historic remnant. Would it not be better to put them in the Principal areas they are actually in, e.g. Monmouthshire, Newport? I can get the breaking-down of Wales, that make sense. KJP1 (talk) 07:54, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

:I'm organizing them based on the preserved counties of Wales, of which Gwent is one; I was talking with a Welsh editor about the diffusion of :Category:Church in Wales church buildings, and she thought that the preserved counties would be the simplest way to diffuse it since they're the largest subdivisions of the country, & other Wales-related categories use a disorganized combination of principal areas, historic counties, & preserved counties, and it can be difficult to make sense of which ones are which. I'm not Welsh, so I'm not intimately aware of the differences between Welsh subdivisions. I'm happy to switch to diffusing by principal area (or historic county, or something else) if you think that would be better! sawyer * he/they * talk 08:04, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

::I see. I wouldn't personally think that the Preserved counties would be the best division. Basically, they're historic relics, that only have ceremonial functions, and not many of those. I would think that readers would want to know where the church buildings actually are, e.g. Newport, Monmouthshire etc. And that Principal areas of Wales would be best for that. It's the route others, including me, have gone done for things like; Grade I listed buildings in Monmouthshire, Registered historic parks and gardens in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. My suggestion would be that you flag your plans - already far advanced! - on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wales. It's a pretty active page, and you'll definitely get views. I'd be surprised if there was support for doing it by Preserved counties, but who knows. KJP1 (talk) 08:17, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

:::that's good to know; thanks for giving me a heads up. it's quite late where i am, so i think i'll just come back to this in the morning & make a WP wales post. re-reading all the relevant articles about the subdivisions of Wales, i think i agree with your assessment. categories can be tricky, so i appreciate your message. sawyer * he/they * talk 08:31, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

::::No problem. And I appreciate your taking on the task of splitting them . Certainly, Wales was too big. So the intention is right - it’s just a matter of agreeing on the best split. My “vote” will be for ‘by Principal Area’. KJP1 (talk) 08:45, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

:::::Agree with KJP1, best use the principal areas, i.e. the modern counties. DankJae 20:45, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

::::::thanks for the input. i've become a bit preoccupied today (see below), but i will start a discussion soon; hopefully it can create a consensus for future organization of Wales articles as well, as like i said earlier, it's quite disorganized as it is. sawyer * he/they * talk 20:52, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

:::::::@KJP1 @DankJae i sincerely apologize, but i'm far too scatterbrained and don't feel up to making a new discussion post today, due to both Vami's passing and some IRL stuff. either of you should feel free to deal with the categorization however you see fit (i won't object to reorganization, category deletion, one of you making a discussion post, or whatever), or just leave it and i'll get to it at some point. hope you guys understand. i've got some scratchpad notes here sawyer * he/they * talk 23:13, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

::::::::@Sawyer-mcdonell, done the ones that have at least two articles, kept the preserved ones as parent categories for now. DankJae 00:57, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Generalissima}}, who has 916 points mostly from one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher), 15 GAs, and 16 DYKs on a variety of topics including New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures, in addition to seven reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Vami IV}}, who has 790 points from two FAs on Felix M. Warburg House and Doom (2016 video game), two GAs, one DYK, and 11 reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|AirshipJungleman29}}, who has 580 points from one FA on Hö'elün, two GAs on Mongolia-related articles, two DYKs, and five reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Sammi Brie}}, who has 420 points mostly from nine GAs and seven DYKs on television and radio stations
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|MaranoFan}}, who has 351 points from one FA on Holidays (Meghan Trainor song), a nine-article FT on 30 (album), and three DYKs
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Skyshifter}}, who has 345 points from one FA on OneShot, one DYK and two reviews

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Vami IV}}, who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs. As a reminder, competitors are strictly prohibited from gaming Wikipedia policies or processes to receive more points.

:I would like to nominate Sawyer-mcdonell for Editor of the Week. He is a relatively new user as far as active editing is concerned but has done really high-quality work on religious history topics, with a general but not exclusive interest on Celtic Christianity. Look at Gates of Heaven Synagogue or {{icon|GA}}Melangell to see what I mean. We can all agree that religious history is a sadly under-represented area on-wiki, and we need more great editors like Sawyer to improve it and, in so doing, improve the encyclopedia!

Today's TFA, Felix M. Warburg House, was written by Vami_IV and Epicgenius, introduced: "This article is about another of the great houses that once lined Fifth Avenue in New York. Specifically, this is the mansion of Felix M. Warburg, a Jewish financier who ignored fears of anti-Semitic reprisal to his decided to build himself a big Gothic manor in the middle of New York City. Although the Warburgs no longer remain, their legacy does: the museum is now the home of the Jewish Museum (Manhattan) and the building largely survives as they left it. It's a beautiful building and I hope you will all enjoy it."! - in memory -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you removed an image {{diff2|1233963747|here}} on the grounds that it wasn't PD. However, my understanding is that it was published in 1907. Account to copyright law in the United States, that's PD (95 years or older). It appears to have the wrong PD tag on the Commons, but maybe I'm missing something. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:12, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

:Kusma pointed out here that Pogany died in 1955, making it just barely out of PD in the UK - it's PD in the US, but not where it was originally published, as far as i know. ... sawyer * he/they * talk 04:20, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

::Not to assume where you're from, but on the off chance that the image was uploaded from within the US, it would appear that the Berne agreement does not require the enforcement of UK copyright law in this case; see [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory here]. Maybe I'm missing something, but better safe than sorry! Good luck with the GA! ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

:::indeed i'm in the US (for the next ~month anyways) but i'm now more confused. if it's not too much trouble, could you explain this on the GAN review page? Kusma would surely be more competent in this area than i am.
in any case regarding commons, i don't think this is CSD-material over there, and given their backlog it'd probably be actually PD before a deletion discussion would even be closed. ... sawyer * he/they * talk 05:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

::::For positive reasons, I'm going to be drawing down my Wikipedia presence for the next few weeks and I already accepted a GAN when I shouldn't have. I'd rather not step on Kusma's toes any more than I already have. Also, I agree: we can just let that image sit until it does become obviously PD. Best wishes for you if you're traveling abroad—I'm off to Edinburgh early next month! ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:14, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

:::::no worries; i'll just link him this section. have fun in edinburgh! & i'm actually moving to Ireland to start university in august O_O ... sawyer * he/they * talk 05:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for improving article quality in July! - Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. Today I have three "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:24, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you today for St Melangell's Church, introduced: "St Melangell's Church, built over Bronze Age sacred ground, housed a prominent shrine in medieval Wales. The titular Melangell, patron saint of hares, founded a monastery in the area in the 7th or 8th century, and the current church was built during the Norman period. After a period of decline during and after the Reformation, renewed interest in the 19th and 20th centuries resulted in the reconstruction of the shrine and extensive scholarly analysis of the site; an entire journal volume dedicated to fresh archaeological discoveries was produced in 1994. This article was a stub marred by a giant blockquote and some very 2009-style references when I found it, but it was a diamond in the rough. I've been working on this on-and-off for around 6 months, and exhausted every scholarly source I could possibly find on this topic."! - Enjoy your first TFA day! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:07, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

::It is great to see a Welsh church on the front page. And such a lovely article. Congratulations! A minor point on cites for Cadw and Coflein - we’ve templates for these, which I personally think give a slightly cleaner look to the cites. You can see how they work in Cites 7, 10 and 19 here. All the very best, and I look forward to seeing another Welsh church soon. KJP1 (talk) 05:45, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

:::i know about the templates and actually used them previously, but at FAC i removed them because they're both a bit heavy on the redundant linking. if i can figure out how to edit templates (i'm pretty bad with anything technical), i will fix the redundant linking issue and re-add them to the article. thanks for your kind message! ... sawyer * he/they * talk 05:48, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

:: thank you! - On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. Women in Green's "Around the World in 31 Days" GA Editathon – October 2024

Image:Women_in_Green_logo.svg

Hello Sawyer777:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

WikiCup 2024 November newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup has come to an end, with the final round being a very tight race. Our new champion is {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|AirshipJungleman29}}, who scored 2,283 points mainly through 3 high-multiplier FAs and 3 GAs on military history topics. By a 1% margin, Airship beat out last year's champion, {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|BeanieFan11}}, who scored second with 2,264 points, mainly from an impressive 58 GAs about athletes. In third place, {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Generalissima}} scored 1,528 points, primarily from two FAs on U.S. Librarians of Congress and 20 GAs about various historical topics. Our other finalists are: {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Sammi Brie}} with 879 points, {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Hey man im josh}} with 533 points, {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|BennyOnTheLoose}} with 432 points, {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Arconning}} with 244 points, and {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|AryKun}} with 15 points. Congratulations to our finalists and all who participated!

The final round was very productive, and contestants had 7 FAs, 9 FLs, 94 GAs, 73 FAC reviews, and 79 GAN reviews and peer reviews. Altogether, Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors all through the contest. Well done everyone!

All those who reached the final will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field.

  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Generalissima}} wins the featured article prize for 3 FAs in round 4, and 7 FAs overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Hey man im josh}} wins the featured list prize for 23 FLs overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|MaranoFan}} wins the featured topic prize for 9 articles in featured topics in round 1.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Hey man im josh}} wins the featured content reviewer prize for 110 FA/FL reviews overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|BeanieFan11}} wins the good article prize for 58 GAs in round 5, and 70 GAs overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Fritzmann}} wins the good topic prize for 6 articles in good topics in round 2.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Sammi Brie}} wins the good article reviewer prize for 45 GA reviews in round 2, and 78 GA reviews overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|BeanieFan11}} wins the DYK prize, for 131 Did you know articles overall.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant15|Muboshgu}} wins the ITN prize, for 15 In the news articles in round 1, and 36 overall.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2025 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement!

Hello, and welcome to the December newsletter, a quarterly digest of Guild activities since September. If you no longer want this newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time; see below. If you'd like to be notified of upcoming drives and blitzes, and other GOCE activities, the best method is to add our announcements box to your watchlist.

Election news: The Guild's coordinators play an important role in the WikiProject, making sure nearly everything runs smoothly and on time. Editors in good standing (unblocked and without sanctions) are invited to nominate themselves or another editor to be a Guild coordinator (with their permission, of course) until 23:59 on 15 December (UTC). The voting phase begins at 00:01 on 16 December and runs until 23:59 on 31 December. Questions may be asked of candidates at any stage in the process. Elected coordinators will serve a six-month term from 1 January through 30 June.

Drive: In our September Backlog Elimination Drive, 67 editors signed up, 39 completed at least one copy edit, and between them they edited 682,696 words comprising 507 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: The October Copy Editing Blitz saw 16 editors sign-up, 15 of whom completed at least one copy edit. They edited 76,776 words comprising 35 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Drive: In our November Backlog Elimination Drive, 432,320 words in 151 articles were copy edited. Of the 54 users who signed up, 33 copy edited at least one article. Barnstars awarded are posted here.

Blitz: The December Blitz will begin at 00:00 on 15 December (UTC) and will end on 21 December at 23:59. Sign up here. Barnstars awarded will be posted here.

Progress report: As of 22:12, 7 December 2024 (UTC), GOCE copy editors have completed 333 requests since 1 January, and the backlog of tagged articles stands at 2,401 articles.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators, {{noping|Dhtwiki|Miniapolis|Mox Eden|Wracking}}.

Season's greasons!

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: {{User4|Cwmhiraeth}}, {{User4|Epicgenius}}, {{User4|Frostly}}, {{User4|Guerillero}} and {{User4|Lee Vilenski}}. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. 2025 Update from Women in Green

Image:Women_in_Green_logo.svg

File:Fireworks in Jaén (cropped).jpg

Hello {{safesubst:BASEPAGENAME}}:

2024 has wrapped up, and what a full year it was for WikiProject Women in Green! Over the past year, we hosted two edit-a-thons, one themed around women's history and another on women around the world. We also managed to achieve most of our 2024 annual goals, nominating 75 articles for GA, reviewing 64 GA nominations, nominating 8 articles for FAC, peer reviewing 3 articles and reviewing 10 FAC nominations. Excellent work, and thank you to everyone involved!

For 2025 we have a new set of goals for nominations and reviews. In particular, we would like to see more articles on our Hot 100 list being improved and nominated for GA this year. If you take a look at the list and see an article you are interested in contributing to, feel free to add it and yourself to our Hot 100 project discussion. You might even find someone interested in collaborating with you!

This year, as with every year, we hope you will join us in helping improve our coverage of women and women's works on this encyclopedia. Every contribution helps. We'll see you around!

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Gog the Mild}} with 1,168 round points, mainly from 4 featured articles and 4 good articles on old military history, in addition to an assortment of GA and FA reviews.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Generalissima}} with 1,095 round points, mainly from 2 FAs, 2 featured lists, 8 GAs, and 16 Did You Know articles mainly on historical topics.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|BeanieFan11}}, with 866 round points from 20 GAs, 23 DYKs, and 2 In the News articles primarily about athletes.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Sammi Brie}}, with 846 round points from 16 GAs about radio and TV stations, 45 GA reviews, and 3 DYKs.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Hey man im josh}}, with 816 round points from 5 FLs about sports and Olympic topics, 46 FL reviews, 3 ITN articles, and a large number of bonus points.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|MaranoFan}}, with 815 round points primarily from 3 FAs and 1 GA about music, in addition to 9 article reviews.

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Good luck! WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|BeanieFan11}} with 1,233 round points from 24 good articles, 28 Did you know articles, and one In the news nomination, mainly about athletes and politicians
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Thebiguglyalien}} with 1,127 round points, almost entirely from two high-multiplier featured articles on Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) and Grace Coolidge, in addition to two GAs and two reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|History6042}} with 1,088 round points from four featured lists about Michelin-starred restaurants, nine good articles and a good topic mostly on Olympic-related subjects, seven ITN articles, and dozens of reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Gog the Mild}} with 1,085 round points from three FAs, one GA, and four DYKs on military history, as well as 18 reviews
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Arconning}} with 887 round points, mostly from four FLs, six GAs, and seven DYKs on Olympic topics, along with more than two dozen reviews

In addition, we would like to recognize {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant16|Generalissima}} for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. • Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
  • An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{t|sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
  • An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
