From the page history it seems it was created to fix a problem on an external website. If that external incoming link no longer exists, we won't need this redirect any longer, but it doesn't seem to do much harm. —Kusma (talk) 12:25, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

As per the Prefix Index: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex?prefix=T%3A&namespace=0], there are only two T: space redirects that point to WikiProject banners. The one to WP Tech, and this. T: redirects are already few and far between, and this particular redirect is already very confusing and niche, as it is a redirect not just to the template, but to the work groups section (which would otherwise not be expected). Out of the very limited number of T: redirects that would need to be reached on a regular basis, such as at DYK and ITN, it doesn't make sense for this redirect to exist, and to skip well into the prose at that. :Keep Niche is corret, and although I don't use it as often anymore as my Wikipedia usage has decreased since those days, I'll repost some of what I wrote in the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2009_November_11#T:WPBIO 2009 November 11 deletion discussion: slightly edited Well.. I'll tell you the reason I created it. I do a lot of manual placing of that template on bio talk pages and found myself having to refer back to this list of parameters when adding those specific workgroups because I can never remember the names of these parameters, so I created a quick 'lil shortcut to take me directly there to that section. So you may not find any use for it but I certainly did. But if others also think it's useless, or if there's now a better alternative, then it's not a big deal to me if it gets deleted. Also, renaming it to T:WPBIOWORKGROUPS would defeat the purpose of "shortcut". -- Ϫ 00:05, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

::While this template definitely has uses, the unideal part about this is that it resides as a PNR which is technically in mainspace. A redirect targeting a section is not particularly the problem, it's just that as a T: redirect (which is supposed to be technically a replacement for template), it might not be apparent why Template:WPBIO and T:WPBIO aren't the same, because the latter goes halfway down the page. I will note, that if desired, WP:TBIO can be used as a shortcut to nearly the same effect, and has the plus side of being in project space all the while. Primarily developed in 2009, this PNR to a portal subpage seems to no longer have utility that requires a redirect. Instead of landing at a regular portal from typing this shortcut in, one is thrust into the backrooms of an untouched maintenance sector. Does not contain any new articles since its creation (with 3 edits) in 2014. It is probably not necessary to have this title be a redirect from a pseudo-namespace, which otherwise occupies the same area as other articles and confuses anyone that stumbles upon it.   • It is also not plausible ("BW" is not an abbreviation of "Rhineland-Palatinate"). I believe it was originally meant to target a subpage of Portal:Baden-Württemberg, but that is not currently in portal space. I am not convinced that this redirect is helpful. Also in existence are a set of Current sports events redirects, which all are redirects to Portal:Current events subpages which are built for this purpose. On the flipside, these are not, and just go to the main Portal article for video gaming, which leaves people lost in a sea without a paddle. There is Portal:Current events/Video gaming/Headlines which is what I'd consider to be a more helpful target for this title in theory, but the recent game announcements are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Destiny 2. While it might've been more helpful in the past, I don't think we're going to be able to well-accommodate readers with this redirect, only discourage them due to a lack of the coverage they were looking for. There is agreement here that in an ideal world this quote would be mentioned at the target article, however since RfD only has authority over redirects that's not actionable here. The word "sorry" does not ever appear at the target article, but Dave is mentioned. While an apology towards Dave may occur in the film, its existence as a redirect is questionable, as it does not seem apparent or necessary if it's just a one-liner that is never addressed at the page. ::That's a fair point, I should have used different words to describe it (I'm more-or-less familiar with this quote as well). This redirect does differ from the others that have been nominated alongside it, in the sense that this quote is substantially shorter, and possibly more worthwhile due it being likelier to be typed and easier to maintain than some of these others. I didn't mean to imply it was random, but that's a potentially workable analogy. While it is certainly a quotable line, it's "random" in the grand scheme of all quotes; not only in relation to this film but beyond it. Among the quote redirects we do keep, it's necessary to have something for the readers that choose to type in these lines verbatim, else it's not a helpful redirect.
