apparently someone didn't mean to mean to deliberately spread a misconception that this film was released 2 years earlier by accident by accident. the year is mentioned once across all articles related to the big fucking giant, and not as this film's release date cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 18:52, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

  • Keep there seems to be a slightly common misconception that this film was released in 1987, so much so that the article was moved to this title and then later a duplicate article was created here (presumably by someone who thought there were two films or the 1989 one was wrong). So people will look for it at this title, and the redirect will educate them that they are incorrect and it's a 1989 film and discourage the creation of a duplicate article. The subject of Incineration is about methods to dispose of materials that do not have affinity to "open" methods; the only place in the aforementioned article where the phrase "open burning" is mentioned is at Incinerator#Burn barrel, which is not the entirety of the article at all. The encyclopedia would probably be better off if this redirect led nowhere; however, Open burning of waste does exist, but that is not necessarily the only application of "open burning". I really think this ought to be disambiguated due to a lack of a clear primary topic. This is common American shorthand to refer to those states that once were part of the Confederate States of America. This appears to be a valid term for the Old Swiss Confederacy though as well; I'm not convinced there's a primary topic. Hog Farm Talk 03:20, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Extremely novel and obscure redirect that is only used in one article as a "not to be confused" item, and is barely mentioned and described in the target article. Definitely deserves to be deleted. MimirIsSmart (talk) 01:17, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

  • Keep - Are you under the false impression that the purpose of redirects is primarily or solely to catch wikilinks? This is not true. The primary purpose is to catch users searching for things, such as by typing it into the search bar. If someone has one of these books, and wants to find information about the series on wikipedia, they are going to type in the series name, and then we redirect them to the subsection of the article that contains information about what that series contains. Just because the information is sparse doesn't mean we have no information at all... we should give the user what they are looking for. Fieari (talk) 06:26, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
