In lowercase form, this is an ambiguous title. This capitalized form may refer to a particular series of documents, but this is unclear in the target article. In any case, I think search results would be preferable. Daask (talk) 21:06, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

  • Delete as generic and inherently ambiguous. A variety of school tests could be given this title, for example, and may be what the user is looking for even though it's unlikely we'll be able to have an article on them... but it would still provoke WP:ASTONISHment to arrive at this banking regulatory page. I don't think a DAB would be possible to fix this, which is why I suggest deletion. Fieari (talk) 23:29, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

weird case, this one. kitsune no yomeiri (fox's wedding) is a thing, can translate to "fox's wedding" and can refer to sunshowers, but it's seemingly equally likely that it refers to the yōkai and to other wacky weather stuff. i would retarget there, but there's the issue of the mix of languages. can it be considered plausible? consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 20:25, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

  • Keep though I admit I'm torn. On the one hand, it's a malformed disambiguator, ant the target does not follow said disambiguation regardless. On the other hand, this is a very old redirect, and there actually used to be an article here a long long long time ago-- fighting link rot is a worthy goal. ::Yes. WP:G7 extends to any page where the author requests deletion in good faith. It could be a great article too, with "nothing wrong with it", and people might even want to keep it on the pedia! But if the author requests deletion (as they have done here), and there are no other substantial authors to the page (as it is the case here), the author's request should always be obliged per G7. If you feel strongly you can just re-make the title right away even, but a user's request to delete their name from a page's creation should always be granted with the only exception being R from moves.   • WP:G6 is the speedy deletion criterion for redirects holding up non-controversial pagemoves. But in this case WP:RM/TR seems like the better venue if all you're trying to do is move a page? A page mover could do that if the move is non-controversial, but if it hasn't been discussed anywhere, a WP:RM seems guaranteed for controversial moves (I haven't looked into this one). I'm not sure where to cut off this series of articles. A 2019 RfD previously kept 1,000,000 AD, corresponding roughly to 1000th millennium, but related discussions deleted later years that are powers of 10 (save 10^100 AD, which was last nominated in 2006). –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 08:17, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

  • Collectively, since the beginning of 2020, these pages have had [https://pageviews.wmcloud.org/?project=en.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&redirects=0&start=2020-01-01&end=2025-01-28&pages=100th_millennium|1000th_millennium|10000th_millennium|100000th_millennium|1000000th_millennium|10000000th_millennium|100000000th_millennium|1000000000th_millennium 1599 views], or less than 1 per day. The most-viewed, 100th millennium, has managed one view every four days; the least viewed, 10000000th millennium, gets barely more than 1 per month. I can't imagine that anyone would miss any of these if they were deleted, but for comparison with 1,000,000 AD, 100th millennium, 1000th millennium, and 1000000000th millennium all get more views while 1000000th millennium gets almost exactly the same number (about 1 view per ten days/37 views per year); none of the remainder manage to get 20 views per year.   • Delete all except 3650 which should be retargeted to Twins (group), these years are way to specific to be a plausible search target and of no use as they aren't mentioned in the target.   • Keep, "existential risk" defined and bolded in lead as a subject of the page, "threat" is mentioned often throughout the page as well, and "existential threat" is given as an incoming redirect in a hatnote. Unless there is a better target for this to point, this is a likely search term and readers are given content on the information they searched for with this redirect. There are somehow FOUR (three if you don't count the "The Expanse" one) possible targets for this page:

- The current target, talks more about the history of protos than defining them.

- The Wiktionary page, which actually defines them in a easy-to-understand way.

- The Expanse (TV series), although the mention given in that article simply says "Hey, someone named Daniel Kash is the head researcher of Protogen" and doesn't elaborate on Protogen itself so probably not a good target.

- According to Wiktionary, Protoporphyrinogen IX might also be a reasonable target for biochemists.

If this RFD was made some-time in the 2010's, I probably would've picked Protoporphyrinogen IX as a definite target. However, this is 2025 so the first two targets would probably be the best ones.

So, the question is: which one of the first two targets does the community of Wikipedia editors think is a better one? One that talks about the HISTORY of protos but doesn't actually define them for people who don't know what they are, OR a soft redirect to the Wiktionary page which is just objectively good (however, since it's a soft redirect, BOLDly retargeting it would probably be controversial) User:Someone-123-321 (I contribute, Talk page so SineBot will shut up) 03:54, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

  • Keep, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a dictionary. Redirects should only go to wiktionary if there's an absence of scope for an encyclopedic coverage of a term. (per Template:Wiktionary redirect docs). There is encyclopedic coverage of the term at the current target (with a dedicated section!) so everything seems fine. :::On the wikt page it says that "'protogen' is sometimes short for 'protoporphyrinogen'", which would make Protoporphyrinogen IX likely to be "protogen IX" if anything. Protoporphyrinogen doesn't exist currently. Imo the current target is likely to be preferable, as a lack of mention at the latter indicates that such a short-name is likely to be obscure, and probably not the primary topic for this term; Google searching indicates the primary topic is probably where it's pointed at now.
