Welcome to the first annual Spooky Species contest!
Contest structure
The Spooky Species contest will run from Sept 24-Oct 31, with the winner announced in the first week of November! I'm starting it with a week left in September to give articles time to work through the DYK process and appear on the main page (if they aren't reserved for the special occasions hooks for Halloween).
Improving article class will be rewarded with points, with bigger improvements and higher classes rewarded more points. I have gone through nearly all the species in the table and updated their classes if necessary, so the starting class listed should hopefully be accurate. You can update classes of articles you improve, but please do so honestly.
- Participants will get an extra 3 points for each DYK that appears on the main page (for new and expanded articles or recent GAs)
- You will also get 3 points for reviewing someone else's spooky species GA
- There will also be a bonus system for page views
- If you collaborate with another editor for an article, you can each claim points

So if I improve zombie worm from C to GA, my base points would be 8. With the 1.3x multiplier for page views, I would have 10.4 points. If it appeared on the main page as a DYK, I would have 13.4 points for this article in total.
