Qualifying
Qualifying was split into two rounds. The first round was held on Friday, October 6, at 12:00 PM EST. Each driver would have one lap to set a time. During the first round, the top 25 drivers in the round would be guaranteed a starting spot in the race. If a driver was not able to guarantee a spot in the first round, they had the option to scrub their time from the first round and try and run a faster lap time in a second round qualifying run, held on Saturday, October 7, at 10:00 AM EST.{{Cite news |date=October 6, 1995 |title=UAW-GM Quality 500 |pages=28 |work=The Charlotte Observer |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/113145073/uaw-gm-quality-500/ |access-date=November 16, 2022 |via=Newspapers.com}} {{Open access}} As with the first round, each driver would have one lap to set a time. For this specific race, positions 26-38 would be decided on time, and depending on who needed it, a select amount of positions were given to cars who had not otherwise qualified but were high enough in owner's points; which was usually four. If needed, a past champion who did not qualify on either time or provisionals could use a champion's provisional, adding one more spot to the field.
Ricky Rudd, driving for Rudd Performance Motorsports, would win the pole, setting a time of 29.904 and an average speed of {{Convert|180.578|mph|km/h}} in the first round.{{Cite news |last=Harris |first=Mike |date=October 7, 1995 |title=Rudd bests field in UAW-GM qualifying |pages=15 |work=The Times and Democrat |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/113145215/rudd-bests-field-in-uaw-gm-qualifying/ |access-date=November 16, 2022 |via=Newspapers.com}} {{Open access}}
