Please do not deleted, charging "unexplained removal," material where the removal was explained in the edit summary. --2604:2000:E016:A700:948D:67F4:BB52:CEA0 (talk) 18:07, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
In my opinion, "d self-serving, self-published non notable material" didn't warrant the removal of his swearing in as an Honorary Police Surgeon
Toreightyone (talk) 18:11, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
:First of all, you failed to address the incorrect edit summary you left. Please do not leave incorrect edit summaries.
:Second, the reason you gave for your deletion was false.
:Third, there is no RS support for the text that was deleted. Just what the subject of the article himself asserted. That reflects two problems. First, it is self-published. Second, it is not notable enough for RS sources to even bother to cover it. And if you knew anything about "Honorary Police Surgeon," you would understand why. It is simply not notable. 2604:2000:E016:A700:948D:67F4:BB52:CEA0 (talk) 18:14, 4 June 2017 (U
My mistake, I apologize for the misunderstanding, due to it being in "probably unhelpful" list of changes, it made it look like a random deletion.
Toreightyone (talk) 18:24, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
:No worries. I understand. But that's just a starting point to prompt investigation. It is not a conclusion. That's why no bot would delete it. When the conclusion does not require investigation and application of policies and consideration, the bot will remove the entry itself.
:Also, there do not appear to even be [https://www.muckrock.com/foi/new-york-city-17/list-of-nypd-honorary-badge-recipients-1321/ any public records as to what one has to do to receive such a designation]. 2604:2000:E016:A700:948D:67F4:BB52:CEA0 (talk) 18:28, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
There seems to be an interview with Harrison Mu (Director of Neurosurgery at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center) about NYPD Honorary Surgeons, https://www.surgicalproductsmag.com/article/2016/10/nypd-md-surgical-products-q-newest-honorary-police-surgeon-new-yorks-finest
"Appointment is by the NYPD Police Commissioner."
Maybe it is more of a counselling role at NYPD rather than an honour.
Toreightyone (talk) 18:41, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
::Frankly, the honoree makes a donation, they get a card, the card leads officers to let them go free when they are caught speeding. That's why the FOIA request led to the conclusion that no standards could be found, upon a review of records, for receiving the honor.2604:2000:E016:A700:948D:67F4:BB52:CEA0 (talk) 18:45, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
According to the interview, apparently, "He or she provides medical consultation, services, and expertise to those sick and injured members of the NYPD and their families."
Toreightyone (talk) 19:02, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
:::Rather vague, no? Especially since in the official governmental FOIA response the answer is different-that a review of their records does not reveal an answer.2604:2000:E016:A700:948D:67F4:BB52:CEA0 (talk) 20:12, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Removal
Hello, I deleted information because I was procrastinating on a research paper and wanted to see if anyone can just edit Wikipedia as they see fit. How does Wikipedia avoid uncredible sources writing whatever they want?
:{{reply to|2601:281:CA80:485:3D70:439C:DC3:3AF3}}, Thank you for your follow up. As a fellow procrastinator, it is true that anyone can edit most Wikipedia articles as an IP address or an account. I say most because some articles that are frequently vandalized are put under protection by an administrator to only allow "credible" editors to edit the page, for example: United States and Donald Trump (notice the lock on the top right corner). I don't know if you noticed, but one of Wikipedia's most esteemed (and sometimes annoying) bots, ClueBot_NG automatically detects potential vandalism from new edits and automatically reverts them, along with warning them on their talk page to alert administrators to repeat offenders (like I did to you, sorry). If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Thanks, Toreightyone (talk) 01:44, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Vandalism
'''Hello, this is (108.45.178.76), I do apologize as I have literally no idea how to reply to your message and the links have led me here. I have a concern:
You stated that I vandalized Shy Glizzy's page. As I fan of Shy Glizzy, perhaps I'm not fully aware of the policy, but all I did was add links to the albums so that those perusing his page can also check out the music. If it's now allowed to do that on Wikipedia, I will oblige -- but how is that vandalism exactly? Thanks
''' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.45.178.76 (talk) 21:56, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
:{{reply to|108.45.178.76}}, Thanks for following up my revert (that is the best way to learn from mistakes). I apologize for not responding sooner as I am on holiday. Based on the edit, I reverted your edit because you removed a large section of information without adequately explaining why. Usually when you remove key components such as the infobox or sections without a reason, it will probably get reverted by editors patrolling the "possibly vandalism" list on the recent edits page. Make sure you explain why in the "edit summary" box below the editing box. I don't know what state of mind I was in when I gave you the warning. I should've given you the Level 1 Blanking one. I have fixed the warnings with more information on your talk page. Sorry for the inconvenience, if you have any more questions feel free to respond on this page, below this message (and finish your message with 4 tildes (~). Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive
G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
- updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Invitation to participate in study
Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews.
We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

File permission problem with File:Audrey Kobayashi photo.jpg
Thanks for uploading :File:Audrey Kobayashi photo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{tl|OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{tl|non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in [{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=upload&user=Toreightyone}} your upload log]. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 22:51, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Lady Ponce
Hi, I made a change to Template:Did you know nominations/Lady Ponce according to the MOS. Although I'm not reviewing the nomination, I did notice that the hook fact is not in the article, as required by DYK rules. You'll have to either add the fact to the article, or come up with a new hook.
Also, I changed the birthdate in the article's infobox to agree with the date used twice in the article text; please check to make sure that's the correct date. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 19:07, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
:Thank you for the warning and I appreciate the edits; I added the fact to the article. Toreightyone (talk) 21:57, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Correction to previous election announcement
Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I ({{noping|Hog Farm}}) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service
Hi Toreightyone! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.
In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.
You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:
- Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
- Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
- Paste {{tlx|1=Frs user|2=Toreightyone|3=limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
- Publish the page.
If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.
Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
Message delivered to you with love by Yapperbot :) | Is this wrong? Contact my bot operator. | Sent at 18:01, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:05, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
