Probable G-protein coupled receptor 12 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GPR12 gene.{{cite journal | vauthors = Saeki Y, Ueno S, Mizuno R, Nishimura T, Fujimura H, Nagai Y, Yanagihara T | title = Molecular cloning of a novel putative G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR21) which is expressed predominantly in mouse central nervous system | journal = FEBS Letters | volume = 336 | issue = 2 | pages = 317–22 | date = December 1993 | pmid = 8262253 | doi = 10.1016/0014-5793(93)80828-I | s2cid = 31345248 | doi-access = free }}{{cite journal | vauthors = Song ZH, Modi W, Bonner TI | title = Molecular cloning and chromosomal localization of human genes encoding three closely related G protein-coupled receptors | journal = Genomics | volume = 28 | issue = 2 | pages = 347–9 | date = July 1995 | pmid = 8530049 | doi = 10.1006/geno.1995.1154 | url = https://zenodo.org/record/1229665 }}{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: GPR12 G protein-coupled receptor 12| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=2835}}
The gene product of GPR12 is an orphan receptor, meaning that its endogenous ligand is currently unknown. Gene disruption of GPR12 in mice results in dyslipidemia and obesity.{{cite journal | vauthors = Bjursell M, Gerdin AK, Jönsson M, Surve VV, Svensson L, Huang XF, Törnell J, Bohlooly-Y M | display-authors = 6 | title = G protein-coupled receptor 12 deficiency results in dyslipidemia and obesity in mice | journal = Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications | volume = 348 | issue = 2 | pages = 359–66 | date = September 2006 | pmid = 16887097 | doi = 10.1016/j.bbrc.2006.07.090 }}
