Task force Science fiction for wiki project novels
Excuse me, my name is Liberalufp and I will be the new coordinator of the task force. With me as coordinator things will be very different, for one the task force at the moment is run down and only has 10 members. In effort to make this task force a major success and living up to its goals, I will be taking the reins and will be requesting for each one of you to do your assignment I will be assigning you and message me on my talk page when it is done. If you wish not to do the assignment let me know. I am sorry if this is harsh and tyrannical but we have over 4,000 articles that need taking care of. Everything is optional and do not feel pressured. If you have any objections or Questions please message me on my talk page.--Liberalufp (talk) 02:00, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
response to message
Hello, I completely understand that you may not have enough time. The way I got selected was that I applied to Wiki project Novels to be appointed and they approved. My goals are that the articles under the task force are of superb quality, The Task force is a model to all other task forces-one of the best, make Wikipedia a #1 resource for science fiction info, and have the task force be an organized work place.--Liberalufp (talk) 21:05, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Ambassador program - broken Wikilink, to course page.
Hiyas Doctorxgc,
I just noticed you have been placing a student template on several user pages that contains a broken link to the course page. The below internal link does not function as intended since it lacks the {{Key press|space}} after "Kindred_(Spring)":
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Program:CUNY,_LaGuardia_Community_College/The_Research_Paper:_Kindred_(Spring)Course page]
The easiest way to correct it is simply using an internal links:
I think i fixed all the template already, but if you need to place any more it may be practical to fix the link. {{smiley}} Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:21, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Change in your user rights
Your Wikipedia account was previously granted a user right called "course instructor" by the [https://www.wikiedu.org Wiki Education Foundation]. That right enabled you to create a course page through the EducationProgram MediaWiki extension. Starting in fall 2015, the Wiki Education Foundation has discontinued its use of this extension. Going forward, users should create course pages through the Wiki Education Foundation website. That application is more user-friendly, and any content is automatically mirrored to Wikipedia. To prevent confusion, we'll be removing your "course instructor" user right, as it is not needed with the new system. This is simply a notification of the technical change to your account. No action is needed from you at this time.
If you plan on teaching with Wikipedia for the fall 2015 term, please email me (helaine{{@}}wikiedu.org) for instructions how to create your next course page using our new system. --Helaine (Wiki Ed) (talk), sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:34, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

[[WP:ACE2015|ArbCom elections are now open!]]
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The Met is excited to make available over 375,000 images of public domain artworks for contribution to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse collection onsite and remotely. The event is a key marker too of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's first Wikimedian-in-Residence program, with resident Richard Knipel (User:Pharos), along with Wikimedia NYC. We invite you to help enhance Wikimedia communities and platforms with open access images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event requires pre-registration. Branding...
Hi, Ximena! We have committed to work on branding together. I asked Pharos for your email, but I thought I'd drop you a line here as well. I can meet remotely or in Manhattan--just let me know your preference. My email is ejackson [at] nybg[dot] org if you'd like to get in touch with me through email, which may be easier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emjackson42 (talk • contribs) 14:08, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

== United Nations presentation: Wikimedia Canada + First Nations + Wikimedia NY ?==
Hi Doctorxgc, I am a former board member of Wikimedia Canada, still very active with the Canadian chapter. Benoit Rochon (president), Amqui (vice-president) and I are working on a project with the Atikamekw First Nation: it’s a pedagogic and cultural project, that lead to the creation of a toolbox to replicate such projects in other First Nations communities. You’ll find more details [https://ca.wikimedia.org/wiki/Atikamekw_knowledge,_culture_and_language_in_Wikimedia_projects here]. We are hoping to present this project next spring during a United Nations event held on the topic of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in NY. I’ll be visiting in NY next week (Thursday October 26-29) to meet potential partners who could help us leverage influence for this event to happen. I contacted you because you are a board member of Wikimedia NY and interested in pedagogic/cultural projects. Let me know if you'd be available to meet for a coffee, or if you can recommend someone to contact within the board. Best, Seeris (talk) 16:42, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. Re: Please allow my students to register their accounts
Hi Ximena, which IP addresses are these, exactly? If they are related to the dog and rapper vandal, then I'm afraid I can't reduce the block, but if they aren't, I'd consider it. Either way, I'd advise you to create the accounts before the event where possible due to the six-account-per-day limit imposed on IP addresses (which you can bypass [//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:ListUsers?username=Doctorxgc&group=&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form&limit=1 as an account creator]). :{{U|Graham87}}, NY is just one of the locations used. Please unblock that part of the range for the next 3 weeks. No disaster will ensue. DGG ( talk ) 20:53, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Food
Hello! After the successful pilot program by Wikimedia India in 2015, [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Food Wiki Loves Food] (WLF) is happening again in 2018 and this year, it's going International. To make this event a grand success, your direction is key. Please sign up [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Food/Be_a_Part_in_2018 here] as a volunteer to bring all the world's food to Wikimedia. Event coordinator
Hi, the English Wikipedia recently created a new user permission for editors involved in off-wiki outreach work, event coordinator. This new permission allows users to mark accounts for confirmed for up to 10 days, and also allows them to create accounts for events without rate limits without some of the features of the account creator right that aren't used at edit-a-thons and other events. I have added the event coordinator permission to your account and removed the account creator permission, as you appear to have been using it mainly for outreach work.{{pb}}This should have no noticeable impact on your ability to create accounts, and will give you the extra ability to temporarily confirm accounts if you need to. For more in formation, you can see the information page on the right, or you can ask me if you have any questions. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:51, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Translat-a-thon NYC 2019 @ LaGuardia Community College is hosting the second annual Wikipedia Translatathon! At this event on Thursday evening and during the day Friday this week, anyone from the public is invited to LaGuardia to join students, professors, and CUNY faculty in translating Wikipedia articles among any languages which attendees understand. Themes for this event include public health and the history of New York City. New York City has a large immigrant population and great diversity of speakers of various languages. Among all schools in New York City, LaGuardia has the highest percentage of immigrant students, the highest percentage of students who speak a language other than English as their first language, and the greatest representation of language diversity. It is a strength of LaGuardia that it can present "Wikipedia translatathons", which are Wikipedia translation events. |

Hi, it was nice meeting you today. After a bit of debugging, it seems that if a page is not patrolled using the page curation system, it'll be marked as WP:NOINDEX for 90 days. So I went in and patrolled the page, and now it should start showing up in indexing. This really isn't expressed to users in a very good way (at all really), but I hope this information helps going forwards. Legoktm (talk) 02:44, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Edit conflict on the Woodside article
Hey Dr. X, sorry about the [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Woodside,_Queens&diff=921784630&oldid=921783880 edit conflict] on the Woodside, Queens article. Is this another school project/event? If so, I'll wait until the project's done and post some comments on the talk page.
As for the edit conflicts, [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Help:Two_Column_Edit_Conflict_View this edit conflict gadget] may come in handy. You could select the portions of the edit-conflict that you want to keep. I think you should try it out if you haven't already. epicgenius (talk) 23:10, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. The museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely. Asia Art Archive will host a sister event in Hong Kong next week.

File:Wikimedia New York City logo.svg File:Welcome to Wikimedia New York City.webm You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-8pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop. To join the meeting from your computer or smartphone, just visit [https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82837330156 this link]. More information about how to connect is available on the meetup page. We look forward to seeing local Wikimedians, but would also like to invite folks from the greater New York metropolitan area (and beyond!) who might not typically be able to join us in person! As this WikiWednesday coincides with Saint Patrick's Day, we will have a guest speaker from Wikimedia Community Ireland, about Irish-language Wikipedia, the efforts of the community in Ireland, and personal work on historical biographies with a special Irish-New York connection. This month will also include a discussion of Black WikiHistory Month in February and WikiWomen's History Month and Art+Feminism in March, and of course the great work that is being done in these topical areas throughout the year. If there's a project you'd like to share or a question you'd like answered, just let us know by adding it to the agenda or the talk page.

WikiBooks in Education
Thank you for your presentation on Wikibooks last night at WikiWednesday NYC. You and your students are on a grand voyage. Delighted to learn about ways to use other Wikimedia sister projects. I can see great value in using Wikibooks with students.
I noticed that you also contribute to English Wikisource. This project offers us a different way to think about written texts. Transcription is less creative than what you are offering in your composition courses. One area that exists between these two spaces is annotation on published works and taking margin notes. I am not sure if you know anyone in the education area that is encouraging students to make annotated texts within Wikimedia projects. If you do, I would be interested to learn how they are doing it. Thanks again for hosting our meeting. Cheers - DutchTreat (talk) 18:08, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
