Grammar and tone
hii,,, I finished the first paragrpah for a section of an article and was wondering if someone could check it for me 😭😭 “ Simkin was born in Novosibirsk, Russia , yet grew up in Wiesbaden , Germany. His parents were former ballet dancers, Dmitrij Simkin and Olga Aleksandrova, who met when preforming at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He has a half brother, Anton Alexandrov(born 1977), who has danced with the Hamburg Ballet and is now a ballet teacher.” Feodorovnassz (talk) 13:38, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Two-factor authentication
How do I turn off two-factor authentication? When I login using my phone, I am prompted for a code to login and I don't remember setting this up. What if the image isn’t copyrighted?
I would like to upload a photo that I own that pertains to a wiki, but I don’t know if it would be allowed or not since it isn’t a copyrighted image. Jawsss (talk) 02:24, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{yo|Jawsss}} Depends on what you mean by "own". Normally the person that took the photo owns the copyright. And the default is that it is copyright. So if you took the photo, you own the copyright, and have the right to release it under a CC-BY license. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 02:31, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
::By “own” I meant I bought it. The photo is about 80 years old now, and the photographer is most likely dead. Jawsss (talk) 02:38, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
::: A photograph from 1940 is not yet old enough to be in the public domain because of when it was taken.
::: There are circumstances in which photos can be used under a fair use justification, regardless of their copyright status. See WP:NFC. These are quite restrictive rules, but if they apply, the photo may be used. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:51, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
::::Hello {{u|Jawsss}}. Copyright law is highly complex, but most commonly, old copyrights in the United States expire on January 1 of the year 95 years after publication. So, things first published in 1929 came into the public domain at the beginning of this year. If the photographer has died, the copyright belongs to their heirs or estate. :Its suitability for "fair use" on this project will also depend on he subject: is it something that could be taken today, such as a scenic view, or is it of an historic event or person that could no longer be photographed? Roblox games and Wikipedia articles
I suppose that this has most likely been brought up before, but why do only 3 roblox games have Wikipedia articles? So many of these games should be notable for setting records or having controversy.
Lets give an example for the setting records part, Grow a Garden just hit 6.5 million players playing the game at once. The update is only an hour away. That has to be the most CCU of any video game of all time. Why does Grow a Garden not have a Wikipedia article yet?
For the controversy part of this argument, Pet Simulator has been known for being basically child gambling, NFT scandals, creating brand new marketing strategies used in other games, and having some of the most addictive gameplay ever. (and to top it off, a McDonalds promotion.)
The fact that Galarian Corsola has an article but Roblox games that have done some insane stuff (for better or for worse) don’t have articles is kinda crazy to me. Toketaatalk 13:29, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Toketaa. Notability on Wikipedia can be a strange concept. Factors like player counts don't contribute to notability. What does matter are secondary sources providing in-depth information on the subject. Without these sources, no such article can be published, because there would be no verifiable information to create an encyclopedic article.
:You can try finding these sources yourself if you wish. There's always a chance the article hasn't been created because simply no one wanted to create it yet. Good luck. Tarlby (t) (c) 14:05, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
:I just created the article for Grow a Garden as there was sufficient coverage of the game in reliable sources. Ca talk to me! 15:43, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
:To give an example of what the other users have said, The Henry Stickmin Collection has no (English) Wikipedia article despite being very popular. If it receives enough coverage one day I might create the article as I quite like the series, but I don't think that's the case yet. Popularity does not confer notability for Wikipedia's purposes. Copying Wikipedia article from other online encyclopedias
In my first task as an editor, Wikipedia gave me the challenge to find a citation in an article about Katyusha rocket launchers. (Katyusha rocket launcher)
While looking for the information, I came across two other sites and nearly cited them until I realized the text of the articles were 100% identical to the Wikipedia entry: https://encyclopedia.pub/entry/33152# and https://handwiki.org/wiki/Engineering:Katyusha_rocket_launcher
What is Wikipedia's policy on authors publishing an identical article on other online encyclopedias? Inquisit345 (talk) 19:22, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
: See WP:REUSE. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:28, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for your response Andy. I'm not sure what the bottom line is though. WP:REUSE appears to be a discussion about how text and images copied from Wikipedia should be referenced, but is it possible the author of Katyusha rocket launcher created his Wikipedia article as a copy of text and images from one of the other two encyclopedias instead of the other way around? Inquisit345 (talk) 18:26, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Working that out usually involves some detective work, {{u|Inquisit345}}. It [https://handwiki.org/wiki/index.php?title=Engineering:Katyusha_rocket_launcher&action=info seems that] the version on HandWiki.org was created on 7 February 2024, and checking the revision history of Katyusha rocket launcher, the text was already in the article before that date, so it seems that it was copied from our article, not to it. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:36, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
::::In fact, it seems the version of the article that was copied from was the one that existed prior to [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Katyusha_rocket_launcher&diff=prev&oldid=1198018439 this edit], when it had the longer "Post-war development" section that you see on HandWiki.org. :::::@Cordless Larry. Very observant. Thanks for following up. One really has to go over the articles with a fine-toothed comb to figure something like that out. Suspicious links
Hi, I've noticed that a new user is adding links that point to https://backlinkspro.net/, leading to what looks like a sales page, with no information on the subject of the link. For example, in an article on marketing:

I think this is vandalism (or something else undesirable) but I'm not sure. Would appreciate input. FictionWitch (talk) 16:02, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

Notability of Jeff Campbell (Apostle)
Hi Teahouse,
I recently submitted a draft article on Jeff Campbell (Apostle), and it was declined by ToadetteEdit due to concerns about notability and the lack of significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. I really appreciate the review, and I’m hoping to get clarification on how to improve the draft for resubmission.
The draft is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sadiowiki/sandbox
I’ve cited sources including La Voz, The Denver Post, Longmont Daily Times-Call, HuffPost, Westword, and award acknowledgments from the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation and Denver Arts & Venues. Some are in-depth features, while others cover public events or cultural contributions.
Could someone advise whether any of these sources already meet notability criteria if formatted correctly with inline
tags? And if not, what types of additional coverage should I be looking to include?
Any guidance on strengthening the article for acceptance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
—Sadiowiki Sadiowiki (talk) 07:01, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Sadiowiki According to our policy on biographies of living people, all facts likely to be challenged must be cited to reliable sources. At present, in the "Early life" section you have put all the cites at the end (including a duplicated one), so it is unclear which back up the first paragraph, if any. The section on "Legacy and vision" is entirely uncited. Who said that about him? You? You also need to think which sources show how he is wikinotable and perhaps mention the three best ones in a comment on a draft to help the reviewer. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:51, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thank you for your detailed feedback — I’ve made several updates based on your suggestions:
::- All duplicate citations (like Migoya’s) have been consolidated using `name="..."` formatting to avoid redundancy.
::- I marked uncited statements such as the Forensics League achievements with `{{citation needed}}`.
::- I added inline `
::- The “Legacy and Vision” section is now cited with reliable sources from *Westword* (2013 in-depth interview) and *Denver Arts & Venues* (2024 award recognition), and rewritten in a neutral tone with attribution where applicable.
::For notability, the three strongest sources currently cited are:
::1. *Westword* feature on Jeff Campbell’s one-man show (2013)
::2. *Denver Arts & Venues* — Social Impact Artist Award (2024)
::3. *HuffPost* articles on his music and activism (2009)
::Here’s the current draft for your reference:

How to publish an autobiography

If you have edited published pieces you should be familiar with publishers’ guidelines. Think of Wikipedia as an online publisher, and you must follow Wikipedia’s rules on suitable articles. Help:Your first article tells you the basic guidelines to follow. Help:Referencing for beginners tells you what is and isn’t a suitable reference. You can’t start out by saying that you know what schools you attended, and what notable people you’ve worked with, so you can just write what you know. You need to find published sources that state these facts, so that others can track down those sources to double check what you’re writing about.
I would strongly recommend you read Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. If you (or someone else) writes an article about you that gets accepted by Wikipedia that article won’t belong to you. Others can edit the article, and add published information, criticisms or reviews that you’d prefer not to have included in the article. And if the time comes when you decide that you’d prefer that article to go away, you can’t delete it. It is part of the Wikipedia encyclopedia, and it might get copied and shared on other websites.
Best wishes on any Wikipedia projects you chose to work on. Karenthewriter (talk) 04:26, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you for your reply! Are there writers that if you provide the information would want to publish an article about you, meaning if they believe it’s a contribution to society and find it interested to do so? Claroconcaro (talk) 04:58, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

::Hello, @Claroconcaro, and welcome to the Teahouse. You say "not for promotion", but what you are trying to do is precisely promotion, as Wikipedia undestands the term. ColinFine (talk) 09:38, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Thank you for your reply. The reason I want to have a reliable autobiography it is because since I write and advice about finances, I get a lot of impostors, I don’t charge for financial advice, all of my advice is given for free and except for the book (that it is actually not mine, it’s the publishing house) there is nothing for sale on my end. What I would like written it’s financial concepts to help people out of their financial hole for free. Many articles have been written about me and the extra promotion is not what I am going for, it is simply to have the right info in a reliable source like Wikipedia. Claroconcaro (talk) 16:51, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
::@Claroconcaro You have been shy in telling us your full name, which would help experienced editors judge whether there were sufficient sources to establish you notability as Wikipedia defines that term. You can see whether many exist [https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=007734830908295939403:galkqgoksq0#gsc.tab=0 by searching at this URL]. :::Not shy at all to share my name, my full name is “Carolina Hernandez” my published book is “Una guía millonaria” right now the book is published in Spanish and sold in over 50 countries but it is in the process of being published in English.
:::All the independent sources that have wrote about it, or tv shows, blogs, interviews etc that have talk about it are in Spanish, I am just preparing for when the information is also in English, to prevent the wrong information to be the one published. Claroconcaro (talk) 16:58, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
::::Unfortunately, as you may have found when you tried the link I provided, your name is the same as several other people, so that way of finding sources doesn't work well. You might be better to start by creating a draft for the Spanish-language version of Wikipedia. However, I don't know their requirements for sources to demonstrate wikinotability. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:19, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::Thanks Michael, that’s the thing, I meet the criteria under Creative professionals based on wikinotability, and what I am trying to do since I have a very common name is to separate myself from that, I know the independent sources’ links. Right now unless someone writes “Carolina Hernandez Una guía millonaria” too many Carolina’s show up. The guidelines in Spanish are pretty much the same but the community is not as active, hence me asking here. I truly appreciate your replies! Claroconcaro (talk) 19:23, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

My article has been rejected again and again - but why, really?
I have been trying to post an article about Dr. Alexander Meystel (deceased), a world-renowned roboticist and foundational researcher in the fields of control systems, machine learning/machine intelligence and robotics. Nothing too dissimilar from his colleage James Albus, who already has an article on Wikipedia.
The only difference, I guess, is that I happen to be his son (only child, now ... ahem ... we'll call me .. "old"), and there is no one else left to speak for him or his lasting legacy on the fields I mentioned (his works are still being taught around the world, referenced in patents and papers, etc.
It is very burdensome to go through this process thrice++. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

:Hello! Getting an article approved for submission can often times be a slow and frustrating process. I would recommend going through the notes on your talk page. Each time a submission is denied, they will list out any reasons why. You are also given tools to seek assistance either from the reviewing contributor or other sources available to new contributors. The Tea House is certainly a good place to start, but WP: Articles for creation Help desk may be more specialized for what you're asking. S1mply.dogmom (talk) 20:56, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, @Meystel, and welcome to the Teahouse.
:A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people wholly unconnected with the subject have chosen to publish about him in reliable publications, and very little else.
:While your COI does not prevent you from creating and submitting a draft (and thank you for disclosing it), it may make it harder for you to write an acceptable article, because you may find it difficult to forget every single thing you know about him and write a summary only of what those independent sources say.
:(I'm overstating the case slightly: your knowledge about him is absolutely inadmissable, except where it is corroborated by reliable published sources; but non-independent published sources may be cited in limited ways - see WP:SPS. But such information will not contribute to establishing notability, and so may as well be omitted until the draft has been accepted). ColinFine (talk) 21:47, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Alternate to peer review for a potential good article nomination
Hello,
I've been working on an article for quite a bit of time now and want to nominate it for good article status soon, but I was wondering if there was an alternative to peer reviewing to get a bit of feedback. I'm not looking for an in-depth review like the peer review option would give me, but just a bit of constructive criticism on what I can improve before submitting a nomination. I've been doing alright improving the article based on its previous good article nomination + the various pages with tips and tricks, but I've never nominated an article before and I'm really not 100% on if I should do it now. Is there anything like that on Wikipedia? I've spent quite a bit of time looking, but found nothing (though, I am a bit new here)

::::Yeah, I just went looking, and the talk page for middle ages (where my article best applies) is abandoned to say the least. I'm not sure where to go from here and might even submit the article as a nomination tomorrow regardless since I've spent quite a lot of time at it. (though, I'm not sure how to do that either!) Waiting for a peer review would be useless at this stage since I had the article's failed GA nomination to guide me. Reverosie (talk) 23:41, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

What to do about an semi-absent GA reviewer
About two months ago, my GA nomination of Equality was picked up, but since then, the reviewer has been periodically disappearing. I believe them when they say they are trying to make time for it, but given their reasons for disappearing, I'm beginning to think it would be better for everyone involved to let them off the hook. I'm not sure what to do. – Farkle Griffen (talk) 20:24, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:I think formally speaking you're probably allowed to withdraw the nomination. Not sure how to change the templates/notices to account for that, but the person reviewing your article might know. Just say you'd like to withdraw the nomination. If no one is actively nominating it, the review must end, formally. Mrfoogles (talk) 03:36, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:Interesting to see a GA nomination for a topic as fundamental as Equality, though. Don't see those a lot. Mrfoogles (talk) 03:37, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Help with improving very niche subject
Hello. First of all sorry for my English. I am currently writing my thesis on this subject, and I have trouble switching to a different style than my usual one, so I can't improve the subject myself out of fear of being wrongly accused of plagiarism (or of simply using Wikipedia instead of doing my own research on current academic consensus). However, I can provide the necessary sources for the improvement of pages relating to the Muisca confederation: All of them are publicly accessible and I hope a devoted editor has the time and energy to read them, and then to change the Wikipedia page(s) on the Muisca for the better. Indeed, there have been many changes in Muisca scholarship recently (this does not mean that the traditional historical narratives are necessarily wrong). Here are the sources, they will contextualise everything and are fairly easy to read: https://www.banrepcultural.org/biblioteca-virtual/credencial-historia/numero-44/los-senores-muiscas (for this link you will have to refuse options for it to work); https://www.academia.edu/22398553/Mercados_poblamiento_Muiscas ; and https://sites.pitt.edu/~ccapubs/pdfdownloads/PITTmem09-Langebaek_1995.pdf (the last one will take some time loading). I know this demand might be bizarre, but it comes from the heart. It hurts seeing niche subjects cite almost only short museum pages/blogs/tourism pages instead of the detailed studies that exist about the muisca just as they do about the Aztec and Inca. I don’t have much time to argue about it a lot, and as I said I am not able to do the changes (big) myself (though believe me, I would love to, and I will probably one day). If a devoted user speaking basic Spanish and English with the time and energy necessary would have the kindness to read the three sources, I will be eternally grateful. There is MUCH more to this than 2 studies and a short article, but this can be a good way to improve Wikipedia by being informed about the muisca. After having finished, I am sure the editor in question will have the exact same eagerness as I have to improve Wikipedia pages related to the muisca. Maybe other editors with knowledge of niche subjects know what I am talking about. Kind regards, 80.187.115.196 (talk) 22:19, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:You may wish to bring this up on the article's talk page and the talk pages of the related Wikiprojects. Thug Life - Reel and Real
A Life Lesson for ever .........
Thug Life - Is it a tattoo - a meme or a Rebellion pose??
Is it waking up every day, staring failure in the face and saying — “Not today, da.”
Now let’s talk the reel and real Thug Life.
But the present version - ageing like our Amma's filter coffee and still tasty.
🎬 Kamal Haasan. Mani Ratnam. A.R. Rahman. Simbu.
4 men.
4 different battles.
1 loud message: “We’re still here. And we’re not done.”
After a big setback with Netizens almost trolling him to the core - a never before for Indian 2- Kamal Haasan at 70, walks into Thug Life
not like a man trying to prove something but confident of doing a new thing irrespective of anything.
And Mani Ratnam? He’s nearing 70 too.
He made a 30-year-old Kamal play a 60-year-old don in Nayakan. Now? He’s flipped the script. Making the same Kamal act like he’s 30 — with fire in his eyes and rebellion in his walk.
That is Thug Life - I feel.
It’s not about pretending to be young.
It’s about refusing to grow old inside.
🎶 Then comes Rahman.
Nearing 60 soon, still creating music like he’s got something to prove. He doesn't rest on Grammys. He reinvents. Every. Single. Time.
Thug Life?
It’s the beat that keeps playing even when the world hits pause.
🔥 And Simbu.
Written off. Doubted. Questioned. But Mani Ratnam didn’t just cast him. He trusted him when others didn’t. That trust? Simbu’s paying it back with every frame.
இனிமேல் நான் தான் Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickan. (Here after Iam - Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickan) - Simbu Roaring like a Lion in the Teaser
He’s acting, roaring and also
thanking in Audio Launch. That’s real thug gratitude.
So what is Thug Life?
Is it the life you flex on Instagram.
Is it the life you fight for when no one's watching.
It is Kamal screaming “action” at 70.
Mani rewriting rules at 69.
Rahman composing thunder at 59.
Simbu proving doubters wrong at 42
They didn’t drop a film. They dropped a message:
THUG LIFE
Don’t let your age, your past, your critics—or your own fear—decide when your story ends.
Because legends? They don’t age. They evolve.
If they’re living their Thug Life at 60's and and 70s
Why not you - Most happy to hear your thug life moments - irrespective of your age . VS Balajee (talk) 07:58, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

Collaboration Request: Creating English Wikipedia Article Following Wikimedia–Ringier Event
To Whom It May Concern,
Previosuly, a Wikipedia page with my name was available in English but no longer publicly accessible. I would kindly like to ask for your advice or help in restoring or recreating an English-language Wikipedia page that meets the notability criteria.
I am a senior expert in GenAI, AI&Society, tech foresight /policy with international recognition. I am an Associate Professor, a transatlantic Horizon Europe Research Project Leader, an invited expert for the UN, EU, and several leading academic and policy organizations, and a Fulbright alumna. I am the first who published a comprehensive summary/monograph of GenAI, Media and Society by Routledge/Taylor and Francis Group as the founder of AI Media Research - global hub, beyond several D1-Q1 publications in the emerging AI trends and strategic foresight.
If helpful, I am happy to collect and provide verified sources (academic publications, policy contributions, international media mentions, Google Scholar, ORCID etc.) to support the article’s credibility.
Would it be possible to be connected with a volunteer editor who could help review or re-upload my article? Thank you in advance for any support you can offer.
I’m highly motivated to contribute, as I recently participated in a Ringier–Hungarian Wikimedia event aimed at improving the underrepresentation of women on Wikipedia, where I was encouraged to connect with a volunteer editor to collaboratively work on an English-language article.
Thank you for your collaboration in advance,
Katalin Feher PhD Zenefuleimnek (talk) 13:20, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:The article was Katalin Fehér and was deleted after discussion in June 2022 at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Katalin Fehér. Regent International Center, maybe the most populous building on Earth
Hello everyone, I was looking for the biggest building on Earth in terms of population : some sources were pointing to the Regent International Center, which had no Wikipedia article except in Chinese. I was enthusiastic about creating an article in English (although it is not my mother tongue). I marked it as a stub, knowing that the community would improve it after a while. But soon after I created it, it was deleted and replaced by a "Draft" : Draft:Regent International Center. I don't know how to improve it to pass this step, because of language problems (not so fluent in English, I am afraid) and the lack of sources others than tiktok videos and tabloids. If someone could help by editing this article, I would appreciate. Damouns (talk) 14:00, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Damouns I think the best way forward would be to include your references and a picture in the main article on Hangzhou. Please read this help page on how to format your two sources correctly. I don't think that it will be easy to demonstrate individual notability for the building, although we do allow Chinese-language sources if that's what are mainly available: see WP:NONENG. Moving drafts to the article space
Hello!
I'm so sorry to ask another question so soon after the previous one, but it's unrelated: My account is now over 4 days old and has nearly 300 edits, so can I move my submitted draft into the article mainspace? If so, how? If not, can I delete my draft and re-create it as a new article that won't need a review? or do articles still need reviews even from verified accounts?
Thank you! Reverosie (talk) 23:16, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
:Your account should be autoconfirmed, and thus you should be able to move a page. There should be a blue "Move" button on the right ToC just under the header "Tools". If you feel the article meets notability guidelines, then by all means you are permitted to move it into mainspace. Be warned that it may be moved back to draftspace if another editor feels it is not ready. PhoenixCaelestis (Talk · Contributions) 23:31, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

:The reviewer gave feedback as to why the draft was declined - you have not shown notability with reliable, secondary sources. Every source you have used was partially written by the subject of the article. -- NotCharizard 🗨 03:42, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for your support @Notcharizard This Professor is low-profile and it is difficult to find his awards elsewhere. Allyssonallan (talk) 13:19, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
::: Since he was a professor, it is possible that his notability can be based on WP:NPROF. The usual options are either that his publications are highly-cited and impactful (relative to the standards of his field), or that his professorship was the equivalent of a named or distinguished professorship. AfC reviewers are often completely unaware of NPROF, which is an extremely unusual deviation from the sourcing requirements of Wikipedia generally, so you may need to draw their attention to it. :Hello, @Actor Farhan Khan Rio, and welcome to the Teahouse. You are very strongly discouraged from creating an article about yourself or your works (see WP:autobiography) but not forbidden.
:In order to write such an article successfully, you would need to
:# Find several places where people wholly unconnected with you, and unprompted by you, have chosen to publish material about you in reliable publications (without several such sources, no article is possible); and
:# Write a summary of what those sources say. What you know, believe, or think about yourself is irrelevant, and should not be mentioned in the article unless it is corroborated by independent sources.

I've been trying to fix citation problems (going through everything under Q in :Category:CS1_errors: periodical ignored sounded like fun), and I'm kind of stumped by Jose Maria Quijano Wallis. Article about Bring Back Euro Trains
Hello,
I would like to write an article about Bring Back Euro Trains, a campaign that was formed following the withdrawal of Eurostar international trains services from the Kent stations Ashford and Ebbsfleet, Kent, UK.
I believe this is notable because there is still a lot of misinformation about whether or not international trains are actually stopping at the stations that are labelled "international", that is to say: Stratford International, Ebbsfleet International, and Ashford International. The services were widthdrawn during the pandemic and were never reinstated, and many AI language tools that scrape the internet for information about these stations are misinformed. As a novice contributor, I would value someone's feedback on whether such an article would be valuable.
I am connected with Bring Back Euro Trains (as a volunteer) so I would like to write an article which could be edited by someone independent. Could someone advise me whether this would be the right approach?
The aim of this article would not be to criticise Eurostar in particular. Several competitors are vying to use the line and the organisation has a broad remit to inform as well as to campaign.
I hope someone can advise me on this.
StephanieChicken StephanieChicken (talk) 16:01, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:You would need to show that the organisation meets the criteria at WP:GNG.
:You could start an article at Draft:Bring Back Euro Trains, declare your CoI on your user page, and submit the draft when ready via the AfC process.
:Another option would be to ask on the talk pages of relevant articles, like High Speed 1 for someone to add a section to those articles. If and when there is enough material, it can be split off into a separate article. Again, you should declare your CoI.
:I have left some other, more general advice, on your talk page. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:11, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thank you for your quick reply and for your welcome, much appreciated. The High Speed 1 page correctly (and very briefly) mentions the lack of Eurostar at Ashford and Ebbsfleet since the pandemic, but not the impact this has had on Kent and the wider south east. I doubt if London St Pancras High Speed (as the company is called now) would be interested in a section on this. I will try drafting something independent, declare my CoI, and see if I can work within the guidelines. StephanieChicken (talk) 16:30, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Hello, @StephanieChicken, and welcome to the Teahouse.
:::{{User:ColinFine/PractiseFirst}}
:::Your text above shows some misunderstandings about Wikipedia, (unsurprising in somebody who is new to it). You say "I believe this is notable because there is still a lot of misinformation..." - this is a complete non-sequitur. Notability is roughly about "is there enough wholly independent reliably published material about the subject to base an article on?" And whether or not "London St Pancras High Speed (as the company is called now) would be interested in a section on this" is 100% irrelevant to Wikipedia, because the company have absolutely no control or ownership of the Wikipedia article about them, any more than BBET would have any ownership or control of a Wikipedia article about them.
:::The fact that you have created an account and immediately started writing about a campaigning group suggests you are likely to fall foul of WP:NOTSOAPBOX. Please be aware that {{HD/WINI}} ColinFine (talk) 18:49, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
::::Thank you ColinFine I really appreciate you taking the trouble to explain this. I realised almost as soon as I had pressed Send that companies have no ownership of articles about them, and therefore part of what I said was irrelevant! I understand the non-sequitur which you have explained well. Of course I am biased, but I also have experience of journalism and of writing from a neutral standpoint. But Wikipedia is a very particular environment which as you say I need to learn to navigate. So I will start by looking around at my subject of interest and see where I can add or correct information. Does that sound like a proper plan? StephanieChicken (talk) 20:10, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

And while en:Wikipedia's article on Delft looks good at first glance, it quickly reveals itself to be defective. As an example, it implies that the "Superbus" project is alive but hints that it might not be; though poor, the article Superbus does succeed in showing that the project has been dead for five years. The latter article has (well deserved) "citation needed" flags; and for me (and I'd guess other readers too), it also raises other questions, among them: (i) How did the/a "Superbus" get into a narrow shopping street (even if only once, for a photo op)? (ii) What happened to the "Superbus(es)" in/after 2020? This is material for absorbing research, especially suitable for somebody who (like you, unlike me) can handle sources in Dutch. -- Hoary (talk) 22:42, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Clarification of Milner's National Background and Sourcing in Lead
Hi all,
I recently edited the lead of Yuri Milner’s article to include the descriptor “Russian-born,” based on multiple reliable sources (e.g., major press outlets and biographical coverage). This change was reverted with the summary “unconstructive change to nationality and removal of sourced material.” I’d like to clarify the intent and reasoning:
Nationality/identity: Describing Milner as “Russian-born” reflects his widely reported origin (born and raised in Moscow, educated in the USSR) and is relevant context, especially given his later emigration and renunciation of Russian citizenship. This is supported by [WP:LEAD] and [WP:ETHNICITY], which allow for origin when it’s notable and well-sourced — which in Milner’s case, it clearly is.
Removal of self-sourced material: I removed a reference that was from Milner’s own website, which described his citizenship status and identity. Per [WP:SELFSOURCE], self-published sources should not be used to support material about living people if the claims are in any way contentious or tied to self-representation. In this case, I believed it gave undue weight to Milner’s preferred framing without balance from third-party sources.
I’m happy to discuss or adjust the language or sourcing further, but I believe these edits were made in good faith and are in line with Wikipedia’s core content policies (NPOV, VER, BLP). Looking forward to other editors’ input.@Bb3 user Factcheckeralex (talk) 23:34, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

Besides, him renouncing Russian citizenship isn't important enough to warrant an entry in the lead - it's literally just one sentence in the body. Serious lack of correct information for Chad's administrative divisions
Wikipedia's coverage of Chad's administrative divisions (i.e. provinces, departments, etc.) has essentially been frozen since 2012, even with the major changes that have taken place since then, including a major name change from regions -> provinces, with the last change happening in [https://www.facebook.com/sggtchad/posts/pfbid02ioNuvYwse9kLBbV9tLnTXUz7pp3hBZemmgjtL5JdxAC5Jy6j5goiKNicL4RfyMbYl 2024]. I've updated what I've been able to do so on my own, such as updating {{section link|Chad#Administrative_divisions}} to match the current number, but there are a significant number of pages that need moving, renaming, new descriptions and more, and it's too much of a task for one person. Even the map at Provinces of Chad is severely out of date compared to the map used by the government [https://ondd.td/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/RAPPORT-PROFIL-2018.pdf here]. I checked Wikipedia:WikiProject Chad but it looks to be defunct. I'd like help with figuring out whom to contact and where to go to start truly fixing this. Thank you. I am brand new and am making some changes to a page that involves a project i was involved with. I have added the correct info but the page will not let me add a reference indicating where I got that information from....HELP!!!

:It's a good place to ask, HOTROD213LA. I'm guessing that it's to do with your addition of "[13]" within [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Crossfade_(American_band)&diff=prev&oldid=1292820084 this edit]. Assuming for a moment that this is so: If you want to add a footnote that should be numbered "13", then you should forget about the number, add a footnote, and let Wikipedia's software arrange the numbering accordingly. (In this automatic renumbering, the software resembles word processing software such as Microsoft Word.) If you're editing "source", then:

James Bond as a role
James Bond a a role/office
I know James Bond is not political, but just like on the fandom site, they have shown the actors with the officeholder infobox, which I agree is a great schematic. Sean Connery was in the role from 1962-1967, established the role and succeeded by Lazenby, then a non-consecutive second term in Diamonds Are Forever.
That was one exmaple. See, the Bond role is so coveted, only 6 (6!) actors got the job. They passed it on. It's extraordinary how in 25 official movies 6 actors too on the role. Let's have the infobpox officeholder for the actors. DoubleDouble7 (talk) 06:32, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{u|DoubleDouble7}}, the James Bond character is many things but he is definitely not an officeholder. And this is not Fandom or anything like it. This is an encyclopedia. Bond may be best known as a movie character now, but he became famous in novels for nine years before the first film was made. Plus the character has also appeared in television shows, short stories, radio dramas, comic strips, comic books and video games. That is precisely why Template:Infobox media franchise is the appropriate choice. Cullen328 (talk) 07:14, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:That's an interesting idea, and of the top of my head it could apply to characters like The Doctor, Jack Ryan and Hannibal Lecter as well. However, I don't think you'll be able to convince Wikipedians to treat JB as an "office". You can try suggesting it at Talk:James Bond. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:16, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Opinions about a page
Hey
I created this page: Draft:Special Operations Group (Estonia), should I release it or edit it more, as im not the best in everything yet. Keep in mind that I translated most of it, but I have some sources that I can use to improve it, but I would like to do that 1 step at a time after the page has been released. Minaolenkarl (talk) 17:43, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:The best way to get feedback on your draft is to press the blue button that says "Submit the draft for review!" that is located just above the start of the draft. I will note, just by a quick skim, that the sections "Formation" and "Activity" are completely unsourced - you need a source for each claim made in the article. I highly doubt the article would be accepted at this time, but you just need to find reliable sources that back your claims. Best of luck! {{Courtesy link|Sunil Dutt}}
Hello sir,
I’ve been working on improving the article on Indian actor and politician Sunil Dutt. The article previously had issues like poor sourcing and structure and incomplete information, but I’ve now added multiple reliable references (India Today, Hindustan Times, Filmfare, etc.), restructured the content, and ensured a more neutral tone.
However, the “multiple issues” banner at the top of the article is still there. Could someone kindly review the current version and see if it’s appropriate to remove the tag?
I’m also a bit hesitant because one senior editor had discouraged me before for contributing large chunks, but I’ve been trying to contribute in good faith and improve the page sincerely.
I would be grateful to you. Your feedback or suggestions would mean a lot. Thank you! Gooshh (talk) 09:52, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

On WP:SPLIT to a draft
: WP:SPLIT
So, me and some other editors plan to split the SWAT article into a separate article for Chinese SWAT. Now, since the Chinese section would be way too short, we plan to duplicate the current SWAT section on Chinese SWAT onto a draft and continue working from there; when we are done with the draft and publish it we will remove or reduce the content from the main article.
May I ask do we add the "Contents
Also, the "Material

Improvements needed for Barclay Sheaks article
Hello,
My initial submission of a new article about the painter and art professor Barclay Sheaks was declined because it didn't show "significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject."
I've since added one citation to my article about a book on Barclay Sheaks that was published two months ago, on March 13, 2025.
One question that I have is how I should enter a reference to this book. I entered a link to the Amazon website, and can also enter a second link to the Barnes and Noble website, but is that appropriate? I also cited its International Standard Book Number (ISBN) in my article.
A second question that I have is whether that published biography meets the criteria for significant coverage.
A third question that I have is in regard to a document that was printed by Virginia Wesleyan College as a visitors' guide to a 1988 exhibition of art works by Barclay Sheaks. I have both the printed version and a PDF of the document, approximately 20MB. This document doesn't show any copyright information, so I don't know whether it can legally be cited. The document hasn't been uploaded to the internet, so I have no way to link to it, unless there is a site where I can upload the PDF for your review committee to examine, to determine whether it would meet the criteria for significant coverage.
Thank you,

: Hello {{u|Swoxo}} and welcome to the Teahouse.
: A book about the subject is usually very good for establishing notability. Links to Amazon or B&N sales pages for books are not allowed, but the ISBN is usually considered sufficient for identifying the book.
: The visitor's guide is definitely a copyrighted work, whether or not it has a copyright notice on it. Its status as a published source may be in doubt, but you can use it as an offline reference as long as you provide enough bibliographical information that someone could locate it at a library or archive. Uploading it is not desirable. As a sort of gallery catalog, however, it is unlikely to count as independent coverage. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:57, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
::Hello, {{u|Swoxo}}. Please be aware that An Artist’s Victory over Parkinson’s: The Barclay Sheaks Miracle is self-published through AuthorHouse, and the author had a lifelong friendship with Sheaks. Accordingly, the book is neither reliable because it lacks professional editorial oversight, nor independent because of the personal relationship. Cullen328 (talk) 21:26, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
:::Thank you for the prompt responses. Since I have no sources that would count as published, secondary, reliable, and independent, I will abandon submission of this Barclay Sheaks article. Swoxo (talk) 23:01, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Difference between Ping and "reply to"?
Hi all. I am new to Wikipedia, and was wondering what is the difference between "Ping" and "Reply to". For instance, if I am discussing an article for improvement with a Wikipedian called "X", which is better- {{reply to|X}} or {{Ping|X}} [In visual, both are appearing as @, but in source they both appear different]? Kindly advise. Or can we use both? I tried searching if this question had been asked before, but could not find it? Thanks.Neotaruntius (talk) 14:40, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Neotaruntius {{tl|ping}} is actually just a redirect to {{tl|reply to}}, meaning they're the exact same template. Which one to use is entirely up to you.
::CanonNi Thanks. I did this simple experiment, which probably will appear very basic to experienced Wikipedians like you [for me it would solve a very basic question]. I went to source code twice in turn and each time wrote your name [CanonNi] and then added "reply to|" and "ping|" turn by turn. Both times, your name appeared as a hyperlink in visual format! This means both are synonymous. Is that a right understanding? Kindly explain. Thanks. Neotaruntius (talk) 14:55, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Not quite. In order to use a template in source mode, you need to use double braces ( {{ ) instead of brackets ( ). So for example, in order to use the template to ping me, you would type {{tlx
::::CanonNi
:::On talk pages where you can use the "Reply" option when responding to someone's previous comment, there is an icon that pops up on the right (a head-and-shoulders with a + sign). If clicked, that provides a drop-down list of all the people who have previously commented on that thread. Hence I can @Neotaruntius mention you and generate an alert but the software doesn't use a template: it places
into the text. From that, you'll guess that typing the same string directly works fine provided you also "sign" with four ~ (tilde) characters. The reply tool is useful because it does the conventional indenting and signing automatically. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:07, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
::::@Michael D. Turnbull Yes, this is a marvelous lead. I used "(a head-and-shoulders with a + sign)" and got 3 names in drop-down list. That is a wonderful lead. Excellent education, Thanks. My question regarding using @ still remains.Neotaruntius (talk) 07:45, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:::(edit conflict) They are synonymous but your experiment doesn't guarantee this, it merely makes it plausible. There could have been circumstances where they behaved differently. When you write
you are using Template:Ping. The heading of that page is "Template:Reply to", and a little below it says "(Redirected from Template:Ping)". It is this redirect which guarantees that they actually are synonomous. By the way, the notification is caused by having any user page link in a signed edit so you will also be notified by this edit when I just write User:Neotaruntius near the end without using a template. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:13, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
::::Thanks. Honestly, it is getting a bit mind-boggling for me. Let me digest this flood of information gradually. Thanks to @CanonNi@Michael D. Turnbull@PrimeHunter [This drop-down list is wonderful]. Neotaruntius (talk) 07:57, 30 May 2025 (UTC)

Time to get a GA reviewer
Hello!
I've nominated an article to become a Good Article, and I was wondering how long it usually takes to get a reviewer. Looking at the page, some articles got reviewers within 48 hours, and others had to wait multiple months. Are there any ways to get a reviewer quick? I was also wondering if articles with more viewership are prioritized at all in the process.
Thank you! Reverosie (talk) 20:57, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|Reverosie}} Hello! There's no sure way to get a reviewer to review a GA quickly. Right now, there are 728 articles in the Good Article nominations queue that need to be reviewed, and the oldest review is from September. But, as you said, sometimes reviewers take a look at an article fairly quickly—I tend to prefer shorter articles, which make for easier reviews, for instance. Try posting a message on the talk pages of any WikiProjects that relate to your article, but otherwise there's not a whole lot you can do to speed up the process. Don't worry, it will be reviewed, but it takes a little patience. Cheers Relativity ⚡️ 21:54, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thank you for the reply! I'm just a bit worried about getting it before July when I'll be far less active on Wikipedia for the entire month. I already posted to the relevant talk pages, but this is my first time doing this, so it's a bit scary :) Reverosie (talk) 21:58, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Reverosie. Nominations are reviewed when a reviewer actually wants and is prepared to review. Complicated, long, and/or articles with offline sources take longer for someone to take up the task because they take more effort. The longest I've ever seen a nomination take in the backlog is like 4 months. As you've been told, alerting some WikiProjects can help more people be aware of your nomination. Good luck! :Virtually all of Baldwin IV of Jerusalem is sourced to a single book. This was published by Cambridge UP. Cambridge UP has an excellent reputation, but I can think of at least one turkey that it has perpetrated. I think that if I were nominating this article for GA, I'd try to think of a discreet way of pointing to a favorable review (in an academic journal) or two of this book. OTOH I'm pretty incompetent with GAs, so my suggestion shouldn't be taken as worth any more than you've paid for it. -- Hoary (talk) 22:31, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
::THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I'll see what I can do about that + try to add more sources :) Reverosie (talk) 22:39, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Reverosie, sometimes it can take a while. Right now, there are over sixty unreviewed nominations from 2024. I've waited almost a year before. {{pb}}At a glance, I see a couple of things you may want to go through while you're waiting. First, double-check the public domain images on the Commons. They should all have an accurate reason for being in the public domain. Also, look through the article for any really subjective language. For example, the article says that the kingdom flourished spiritually. To meet WP:NPOV a reviewer might ask you to get more objective on statements like that. Two straightforward options to transition from subjective to objective, are to attribute the evaluation (who says it flourished?) or give tangible examples (how did it flourish?). If I'm being unclear, you're welcome to ask more questions. {{pb}}I hope that helps, Rjjiii (talk) 20:42, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

I apologize if I'm in the wrong section.
I want to work on the page MacOS and add in some information I found online.
I want to add a new version which will be announced at this years Worldwide Developers Conference. The info found online lists a version number, name and possible design changes.
Would this technically be classed as Synthesis? [https://www.macrumors.com/2025/06/01/macos-tahoe-name-leaked/] Is it possible to edit the article with this info?
Thanks, Urbanracer34 (talk) 18:09, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
:I'm not sure why you're worried about this being synthesis - it seems to me that you want to add the information that is in this source? Synth is when you invent a new conclusion by combining two separate ideas/sources. The more relevant question is whether this website is a reliable source for the information. I'm not familiar with it, so I can't answer that question, but if you ask on Talk:MacOS I'm sure you'll get responses. -- asilvering (talk) 18:48, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

I posted an article - how long before it is reviewed?
Hi: I posted an article for Corrado Codarini, a member of the Four Lads singing group a few days ago. How long does it generally take to get this reviewed/approved to be listed on Wikipedia?
Thanks, DavidinVentura

Hello. I recently did some deep searching because I was very doubtful of the factual accuracy of the article List of best-selling mobile phones. I have discovered that, unfortunately many sales numbers on this article were fake/inaccurate added by Wiki editors a long time ago (around 2011) which went unchecked, and those same numbers were later picked up and reported by online media. I have detailed my findings and proof on Talk:List of best-selling mobile phones. Wikipedia is a fantastic resource normally, but this article right here is a total dishonor. We let inaccurate unreferenced information in and now it is "official" and "true" by the rest of the media. I am posting this here to spread awareness to Wiki higher-ups because action must be taken with this article. Knoxmann (talk) 15:30, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Watchlist change
Two new links have appeared on my watchlist that are annoying for a couple of three reasons.
- virtually two whole lines of whitespace have appeared at the top of the page
- except for the links, to "preferences" and "edit watchlist" at the beginning of each line
- I now have (count them) two links to preferences within a whisker of each other
Why? I'll ask somewhere else if I'm in the wrong place. Thanks. - Roxy the dog 08:38, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Definition of "all editors" for RM discussions
In WP:RMCOMMENT it says "All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move."
If the page in question is ecr protected, does the editor have to be extended confirmed in order to participate? Mikewem (talk) 21:17, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Mikewem. Welcome to the Teahouse. An editor does not need to be extended confirmed to participate in discussions regarding the page move. I think, If the page is extended confirmed protected it implies restrictions only on editing directly to page, not to participate in related discussion and editing its talk page. A bit of an odd situation
Hi, I was doing some edits on Michael Palance, but didn't log in (by accident, I should probably add some sort of note associating myself with those IPs), specifically as 2601:647:6880:8f3b:1032:e37f:e724:c055 and 2601:647:6880:8f3b:b152:ab9c:eb89:cf89. I don't know this person or have any personal bias. However doing some quick research yields that he is a person who has controversies around him. I added a section about this. However it seems he reverts any edits that portray him in poor light no matter what, claiming they are "libel". I reverted his revert, adding a quick note explaining it wasn't, in fact, libel. It seems he then logged out (is this just blatant sock-puppetry) and reverted the edit with the same edit message ("libel"). I started a discussion on the talk page, but I doubt it'll get much response given this person has only ever edited his article. It seems most of what he does is revert any negative claims about him. I am wondering about what should be done in this situation?

Counter vandalism
How to patrol recent edits to counter vandalism in a faster way? Like seeing the diffs already to determine if it's vandalism or not. Currently, I have to manually click the diffs button to identify the vandal before deciding whether to revert it or not. — ArćRèv • talk 22:39, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:Consider using Wikipedia:Twinkle. It's a gadget that speeds things along, and streamlines adding a warning to talk pages. Clicking the diff button is still required though. If you use filters, you can filter the edits based on what the computer believes are "bad faith". For example:
:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?goodfaith=likelybad&hidebots=1&hidecategorization=1&hideWikibase=1&inverttags=1&limit=50&days=0.04166&urlversion=2 Ashwin060 (talk) 00:40, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:+1 on Twinkle, I don't personally use it but it's also worth looking into Huggle (you need rollback permissions to use it, however). For your specific question, I find WP:NAVPOPS super helpful, which displays a preview of a diff when hovered over so you don't have to actually click on it. You can enable it by going into preferences {{arrow}} gadgets. (@Ashwin060 ping becuase not sure if you know about this and it could be helpful for you too if not). How to improve this article?
Hi, the 2024–25 in European women's basketball (A–K) article that I created has been nominated for deletion. But NOBODY is telling me how to improve it and it is frustrating. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it? I have already asked twice on the AFD talk page but nobody has replied with anything useful. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 08:34, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, {{u|ILoveSport2006}}. Two editors have given you feedback. You perceive that their replies were not useful, but they see things differently. Those advocating deleting an article are obligated to make arguments based in policy, and those who want to keep an article have the same obligation. No one is obligated to satisfy you, though, even if you capitalize words out of frustration. Read their remarks carefully. You may be missing things. Cullen328 (talk) 08:47, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
::The advise you are talking about is so vague. What am I supposed to do with that information? I need something more specific. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 09:15, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:::{{ping|ILoveSport2006}} We don't usually use this format with numerous unrelated leagues (except being in the same continent) in the same article. When is it ethical to say you "made" an Article?
It doesn't matter in any grand scheme, but just to pat yourself on the back and that sort of thing. For instance, I keep for myself an easy set of links to pages I've worked on the most on my user page, and I bold the ones I feel OK saying that I, myself, 'made' as of the time I added them to the page. A couple of context examples:
- Spore drive. Did not exist at all. I started and built the page from scratch. I feel safe saying I 'made' it.
- Saru (Star Trek: Discovery). In 2020, it was a <2k stub that was redirected, then I built that. I feel ok saying I 'made' it.
- Christopher Mellon. Had been a poorly written mess, killed at AfD, I rewrote from scratch and passed AfC. I feel ok saying I 'made' it.
Those are easy. I 'made' them, all with slightly different starting positions--didn't exist, redirect, AfC after AfD (for Mellon--I took over the AfC from another user and did not use their draft at all; cold restart).
Howevere, is it ethical to say I made these next four like the first three? I'm not so sure at all, and I'm inclined to say no, as I technically took them and expanded them:
- Abigail Becker -> how I found it at [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abigail_Becker&oldid=1227917063 this link]. 5,398 bytes to 16,254 bytes over 120 edits (75.9%).
- Born secret -> how I found it at [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Born_secret&oldid=1226388830 this link]. 3,658 bytes to 20,438 bytes over 89 edits (80.9%).
- Invention Secrecy Act -> how I found it at [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Invention_Secrecy_Act&oldid=1183799240 this link]. 6,690 bytes to 37,579 bytes over 173 edits (85.6%).
- Sentient (intelligence analysis system) -> how I found it at [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sentient_(intelligence_analysis_system)&oldid=1193133346 this link]. 2,606 bytes to 27,724 bytes over 566 edits (95.9%).
Like I said--it hardly matters, but I think about it now and then for the silly little bolding. How's the ethics work out on this? How much of the article needs to be you to fairly say you made it? -- Very Polite Person (talk) 15:51, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Very Polite Person. Me personally, I don't really care, especially since you authored the majority of these articles. Terminology that I prefer better than "made" is that you "authored" most of the article, especially if you have 70% or higher authorship. Makes it clearer what you mean, imo. Sandbox to draft
Herbert W. Bateman IV/sandbox has been created and finished. Yet, it’s been suggested to go by way of creating a draft before uploading the article for evaluation and publication. How might I do that with losing the 80+ hours already spent writing the above page? Respectfully, Herb Herbert W. Bateman IV (talk) 17:29, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Herbert! I just added a draft tag to the top. You should be able to submit the article through Articles for Creation by hitting the blue button that says "Submit the draft for review!" I will note, though, that writing about yourself is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. Not completely disallowed, just discouraged. You will not only need a source for every claim your article makes, but you must also write from a neutral POV and declare a conflict of interest. The links here should give you a good overview, but also check out this page that is specific about the guidelines for writing about living people. Best of luck! Help with review request
Hi! I created an article draft about "Axtor (Argentine visual artist)" and requested a review 18 days ago, but no one replied. I just want to know if the request is still active or if I did something wrong. I used reliable sources like Rolling Stone and La Nación.
Thanks in advance for your help! Axtorino (talk) 13:45, 30 May 2025 (UTC)

Redirects
Hi, I'm honestly new to doing anything aside from minor edits so I thought I'd ask about this here. I came across Rūjiena Municipality the other day and noticed the 'See also' section actually linked to an article on the current administrative divisions of Latvia rather an article on the 2009 divisions. Whilst I was fixing it, I noticed that Administrative divisions of Latvia (2009) is a redirect to Administrative divisions of Latvia when it seems like it would probably be better suited to Administrative divisions of Latvia (2009–2021). What is the appropriate action to take in situations like these? Thanks. SodaGeyser (talk) 22:50, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{yo|SodaGeyser}} You could boldly change the redirect for Administrative divisions of Latvia (2009). Administrative divisions of Latvia (2009–2021) was created about 12 years after the redirect, and a lot has happened since them. A discussion could be held on a talk page, eg Administrative divisions of Latvia or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Latvia but may only be needed if someone disagrees with your change. Publish translation
Hi everyone! I have written an English translation of the Persian Wikipedia article about Matin Alavi, an Iranian water polo player.
The draft is here: User:Matin2025/Matin_Alavi
The original Persian article is: :fa:متین_علوی
I have added the attribution properly and I’d appreciate it if someone could help me review and move it to the mainspace.
Thanks a lot! Abolfazlsadr (talk) 21:17, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, @Abolfazlsadr, and welcome to the Teahouse.
:As far as I can see, none of the sources you cite meets the requirements of being where somebody wholly unconnected with Alavi has chosen to write in some depth about him and be published in a reliable source. Without any sources that meet such criteria, your draft cannot establish that he meets the notability criteria of English Wikipedia, and no article is possible. Note that different language versions of Wikipedia have different policies and procedures, and that English Wikipedia is stricter than most about notability and verifiability, especially in articles about living people. Please see WP:translation. ColinFine (talk) 22:19, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
::The World Aquatics site might be useful to verify the claim of notability, however, if only the link went to the correct page instead of the front page of the site. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:11, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
:::Please check it again Abolfazlsadr (talk) 06:20, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
::::Nothing to check. The links are still bad. One doesn't work, and the World Aquatics link still goes to a page that isn't specifically about the article subject.
::::See Wikipedia:Golden Rule. If you cannot find multiple sources that meet all three criteria, then you should probably give up on this topic, as Colin Fine suggested. ~Anachronist (talk) 07:45, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
How to show a subject qualifies for a wikipedia article?
Hi! I recently submitted this article: Draft:Chris Christodoulou (Composer). I expected to get rejected, and I totally understand the LLM issue listed. What I am having difficulty figuring out though is how the sources I had weren't enough to qualify as a significant person. I feel like that is something that can't really be cited - people know him for his music from the games he has composed for. How exactly do I signify he is "significant"? Don't get me wrong, I know he his, but I just don't know how to show/cite that. Nordlaw2 (talk) 19:14, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello and welcome. The draft was declined, not rejected. Rejected has a specific meaning in the draft process, that a draft may not be resubmitted. Declined means that it may be resubmitted.
:An interview is not an independent source, as by definition it is the person speaking about themselves. The other two sources you offer may not be reliable sources. Notability is demonstrated for a subject as WP:BIO describes, see the basic criteria. If you are asserting they are a notable music composer, you could also show they meet the narrower notable composer definition. 331dot (talk) 19:19, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Nordlaw2. I have dropped some comments on your draft. Tarlby (t) (c) 19:22, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:For the draft to have a chance of being accepted, it needs to cite multiple sources that meet all three of the criteria described in Wikipedia:Golden Rule. ~Anachronist (talk) 07:49, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Question About Talk Page
Hello admins/editors,
I have a question regarding the Talk page. Are users allowed to delete their own Talk page, or is admin approval required to do so? Thank you. Aona1212 (talk) 12:02, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{re|Aona1212}} You can edit your talk page and remove the current content. GMGtalk 12:05, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hi Anona1212, I think users are generally not allowed to delete their own talk page. However, they may blank the page. Deletion may requires administrator action and is subject to Wikipedia deletion guidelines. Fade258 (talk) 12:12, 30 May 2025 (UTC)

Help needed to publish my draft article about Skrybz
Hi! I’m a new editor and have written a draft about myself in my sandbox here: User:Iamskrybz/sandbox
I’m unable to move it to the main Wikipedia space myself. Could someone kindly review it and help me publish the article? Thanks so much for your help! Iamskrybz (talk) 06:13, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, while I was reading your draft, I noticed that this is seemingly an autobiography based off your username alone, in (basically) all cases, do not do this. - Dents (talk2me 🖂) he/him btw!!! 06:50, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:And that's a good thing you didn't move it to article space, else it would have been speedily deleted. Autobiographies are strongly discouraged. Basically, don't write about yourself on Wikipedia.
:Bear in mind that Wikipedia doesn't care what you have to say about yourself, Wikipedia cares only what published sources that are independent of you have to say. And you cite exactly zero sources to back up any of the claims you made, making the draft a violation of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, which require all assertions to be backed up by cited sources. Furthermore, the draft is not written in a neutral fashion, which is hard to do when you are writing about yourself.
:Answer these questions:
:* Which notability criteria in WP:MUSICBIO do you meet?
:* What three sources that meet all three criteria in WP:Golden Rule could you cite?
:If you don't have answers to those, you cannot publish an article about yourself. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:56, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Rival established media company currently with no press coverage
{{atop|1=Correct advice has kindly been given. Special pleading won't change it. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:03, 2 June 2025 (UTC)}}
I'm currently in the process of writing a wikipedia page being the founder of Intuitivstory Media Company. The brand and company has been around since 2007 and has never received direct written coverage in the press due to being a journalist trademark challenging the press. The company is starting to dominate the press in the UK, however journalists don't want this to be known and steal and use the content from the company. I am creating a page under my name to acknowledge a journalism establishment that is being hidden by unethical journalists. :Hello. It sounds to me like you want to promote your company here- that is not permitted. If no independent reliable sources have given your company significant coverage, it cannot merit an article on Wikipedia. Wikipedia does not merely document things that exist, it summarizes sources. It does not provide equal time to all companies in a field, coverage depends on the sources. Please see your user talk page for important information. 331dot (talk) 15:55, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

:Hello, @Sharnadd, and welcome to the Teahouse. I don't think this would be acceptable: in my view it would be original research. ColinFine (talk) 09:37, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Sharnadd Wikipedians can be remarkably good at finding sources if you give them key pieces of information. So, you could mention that you want to get an approximate date by posting on the talk page of the article, if it has lots of watchers, or maybe in one of the WP:Reference desks. One possibility would be to find a published newspaper advert for the product and cite that as a date it was certainly available. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:19, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

::: {{ping|ColinFine|Michael D. I did a lot of research when I was trying to make this a GA and even after. I read a book about Canadian snack food history. I went through every mention of "ketchup chips" at newspapers.com. I haven't come across this before and it's important because it throws another country into the mix for "had this the decade it was invented" (people are unsure about whether they were invented in Canada or the United States first, just that it happened around the same time). It's frustrating when sources seem to have an obvious blindspot but there's not really much one can do about that other than hope someone does actually write about it someday. :::::And the English company that did them in the 70s got taken over by walkers 20 years ago Sharnadd (talk) 16:45, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::Yes the only.patent that comes up with anything is a British one to add flavour to crisps and that's from 1938. Tomato is listed with a lot of other things and nothing to say the product went public Sharnadd (talk) 18:27, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
::::I'm sure that it is frutrating; but Wikipedia holds to its standards for WP:verifiability: if you can't verify it (and, more to the point, if a reader in another continent in two years' time has no way of verifying it) then it shouldn't be in the article. ColinFine (talk) 18:15, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::{{ping|ColinFine}} I wasn't disagreeing with you at all, there's two discussions on my talk page related to how I don't think this content can be included for that reason (and also because of OR concerns). I'm not entirely sure Sharnadd fully understands that there's not much that can be done at this point, though. I was just trying to sympathize that such an experience can be frustrating. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 00:47, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
::::::I fully understand that a newspaper article and a primary source can not be used for information. Yes it is frustrating as there must be an actual date out of there of when they were released in the UK in the 70s. Sharnadd (talk) 05:25, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
:::::::: {{ping|Sharnadd}} Okay, I'm glad to hear that we mostly appear to be on the same page now. Primary sources aren't prohibited entirely, though. Otherwise that editor above wouldn't have tried to see if a patent existed. It's the synthesis aspect that matters here. The ad in the source doesn't give a date for when they introduced ketchup chips. Hopefully that makes sense?
:::::::: I hope you don't find that information too discouraging. Feel free to ask me (or come back here to the Teahouse) if you're having trouble with anything in the future... I notice that a lot of people have left templated messages on your talk page but sometimes a more human touch can work better. I remember what it was like to be a newish editor, even if was ages ago by now. But that general sense of confusion and not knowing if I was doing things right or not isn't something I can easily forget. Perhaps your experience is different, though. Can I get my ban to be reverted back?
Currently I am facing a life ban from editing Wikipedia and I am in a desperate situation to prove my mettle and continue to share my passion in writing up articles. I know its not easy to get a second chance in life as it is a principle familiar to everyone in common. I admit my mistakes regarding being lengthy articles and copyright issues. I want to come back and do my best. I can possibly make sure to ensure the quality of the articles and hope that the admins can cut me some slack and relax the restrictions imposed on me. I regret of not complying with certain guidelines, but I am trying to make a comeback of all sorts to go back to the drawing board to maintain a standardized way of writing. Just like Indian cricketer Karun Nair's famous lines "Dear Cricket, Give me one more chance" I want to echo the same feelings right now with my own version of "Dear Wikipedia, Give me one more chance". : {{u|Iljhgtn}}, per the guideline on the use of user pages, you may remove comments on your own talk page that you do not wish to have there. You are within your rights to ask other users to stay off your Talk page; see WP:USERTALKSTOP for details. If they keep coming back regardless, ask again, and if that still doesn't work, you could either go to WP:AN, or request admin help by asking an administrator to intervene right on your Talk page, by adding {{t|Help admin}} to the discussion along with your request for help. Finally, if they appear to be following you around at several different articles see WP:HOUNDING for how to respond, but first assume good faith–it could be they have some similar articles on their watchlist. But if you believe hounding is a problem, once again, first ask them to stop, but if the behavior persists, request help from an admin. Hope this helps! Mathglot (talk) 14:47, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:I looked at the conversation up until you wrote "stop your threats" but I saw no threats, just civil discourse and an admonition against making personal remarks, which was appropriate. That particular editor you're referring to is an administrator, and the job of an administrator is to ensure stability of the Wikipedia project. If you have attracted an admin's attention as someone who could potentially be disruptive (particularly if there's a misunderstanding of what "no consensus" actually means), it is understandable that the administrator will monitor your activity. I also monitor other editors (mostly paid editors) until I am confident that they aren't going to be a source of instability. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:58, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Article ready for review??
hello, I have been working to get a page together on an Australian poet, Jim Gordon.( Draft:James Gordon (poet))
I have been working with Fritzmann2002 as a mentor but have not heard from him for quite a while.
My last message to him was to ask if he could have a look at the latest draft and advise if he thought it was ready to be put up for review - would be happy for some feedback on this as it's been sitting around for a while now.
many thanks
RomeoHT RomeoHT (talk) 02:06, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:It's fascinating, RomeoHT, but I regret to say that the references are formatted most oddly. I thought I'd have a go at explaining what has gone wrong and how to fix it, but I quickly realized that I was too tired to do this effectively (or perhaps to do it at all). I encourage some other person here who both (i) knows their way around referencing and (ii) can devote twenty minutes or longer to diagnosis and explanation, to have a try. Once the references are fixed, there's some humdrum editing work to be done. (As an example: You'd call the subject "Jim" when needing to distinguish him from one or more others surnamed Gordon. Otherwise, he's "Gordon". Thus not "Leigh is holding Jim's scrapbook" but instead "Marchant is holding Gordon's scrapbook". Though of course if you quote something that refers to him as "Jim", you leave this as is.) After the needed work has been done on this draft, it should qualify as an article (and a very readable one too). -- Hoary (talk) 09:39, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
:@RomeoHT For general referencing help, see this page. You are going to want to use a lot of {{t|cite news}} templates for the references from The Irrigator. I believe that that newspaper has been digitised and it would be great if you could link out to the digital copies for your references. Several references cite letters. I'm afraid that these can't be used unless published somewhere (even if in an obscure library). Verification by readers is a key Wikipedia policy. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:59, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Outdated List
I found this list that is outdated and obsolete. Should I archive it or merge the contents into a more comprehensive page?
I tried editing it, but it requires basically a rewrite. I am now wondering what I should do with it.
Also are autoconfirmed users allowed to archive lists/articles? KimAtSTEM (talk) 07:58, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, {{u|KimAtSTEM}}. There is no requirement that an article be up to date, although updating articles is a good thing to do. With seven million articles now, it is inevitable that many articles should be updated, but should is not the same as must. Archiving is a process that applies to talk pages and noticeboards, but does not apply to articles, and list articles are articles. Obsolete is not a concept that we apply to encyclopedia articles because notability is not temporary and even outdated articles are of historic interest and provide the basis for expansion and improvement. Merging is a possibility if there is an appropriate target. See WP:MERGE for details. Making the article "go away" is not an option unless it never should have been created in the first place, which seems unlikely. The least you can do is express your concerns in detail at Talk: Train routes in the Netherlands. You could then tag the article with Template:Update. Cullen328 (talk) 08:37, 30 May 2025 (UTC)

Not able to make constructive edits to wikipedia.
I attempted to add commons public domain files for Marx Brothers. These were video taken from the public domain film The Cocoanuts of Harpo plaing harp and Chico playing piano. I was told to reach consensus to add them, but I don't think a converation will take place in months if I submit to the talk page.
Granted the Laurel and Hardy edit may have been warranted, but it was simply a revert back to 2021 when a higher quality black and white publicity shot was the lead, and what I felt was better suited than a colourized still. MarcoMarxBrother (talk) 21:57, 1 June 2025 (UTC){{sock vote|Oatsandcream}}

other editing suggestions
What are some other ways to help improve wikipedia that most of you participate in on a regular basis? Copyediting? Reverting vandalism? Iljhgtn (talk) 18:47, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
:Copyediting, reverting vandalism, finding sources (there are many articles with "citation needed" tags), reviewing draft submissions (if you have qualified to be a reviewer), responding to edit requests (see :Category:Wikipedia edit requests, especially :Category:Wikipedia conflict of interest edit requests), new page patrolling (there's always a backlog), commenting on WP:AFD nominations. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:16, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
::IMO, there are hands-down two tasks to spend your copious available editing time on. One is inter-language links. These alert the reader to the availability of an article which doesn't exist on enwiki but does exist on some other language wiki. Users won't think to go look around on other wikis (or in many cases, even be aware of how to use wikidata for this purpose). By adding interwiki links, you facilitate access to the non-enwiki articles.
::The other really worthwhile thing to spend your time on is urls (whether in citations, references, additional reading, or elsewhere). You can hardly avoid discovering broken links, at least if you make a habit of clicking on them. If we had bots that were doing this job effectively, I presume I wouldn't always be coming across non-working links (assuming that they were fixable). Resolving broken links (especially if your goal is to find acceptable links that actually allow you to access the content) can be very tedious. OTOH, it's satisfying when you find one.
::These are both outright wins, with nobody arguing that your article topic isn't notable or that your sources aren't reliable. Please message me directly if you are looking for tips on performing these task or have other related questions. Fabrickator (talk) 23:36, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
::@Anachronist I currently new page patrol, comment on AfD nominations, copyedit, find sources, but have not reverted vandalism. What is the best way to find that and to revert it most effectively? Iljhgtn (talk) 01:00, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
:::See WP:CUV and WP:CVU. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:38, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
::::Seems really inefficient to me. I keep clicking on things to undo and someone beats me to it each and every single time. That is a good "problem", but does not seem like something very helpful to spend time on then. Iljhgtn (talk) 01:53, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:::I don't know of a "best way" to clean up vandalism. I do almost everything manually, and don't rely on any automated tools except for the ones provided for article reviewing. If someone beats me to a revert (not often because many of the pages on my watch list aren't heavily visited pages), I go and look at what else the vandal has done, and I either revert or report.
:::Fabrikator makes a good point; cleaning up dead links, finding equivalent pages in archive.org, is worthwhile to do. As is what I mentioned where things are tagged "citation needed" - either find a citation or remove the statement, although I sometimes leave it alone if I can't find a citation but the statement looks reasonable. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:40, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
draft J-Corry (rapper)
The article about J-Corry needs to be here because he is a big important person/artist. Active for over 30 years. His discography speaks for itself.
I have the same opinion, there should be many more references. Somebody should put pressure on those magazines and labels to put J-Corry in the spotlight. His rap catalogue speaks for itself.
There also need to be pictures for the wikipedia entry, I'm looking if I'll find matching ones.
The article about J-Corry stays on wikipedia, because he has over 1 million fans. He is a public figure.
I've found some good references but I don't know if they do qualify for wikipedia, J-Corry is also an artist in the Wu-Tang team what's real big he's a Wu-Tang Affiliate, so he is also featured in that multi rap promo network Wu-Tang Familia:

::I'm sorry, IP user, but nothing you have said there has any relevance to Wikipedia, and your draft is nothing like a Wikipedia article.
::A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people, wholly unconnected with the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable publications, and very little else. Listings don't do it. Availabilty on distribution channels doesn't do it. Numbers of downloads or subscribers or fans don't do it. Anything written or published by the subject, or his associates, doesn't do it.
::Until you have found several sources which meet all the criteria in WP:42, you will not have an article, and you will be wasting your time and everybody else's in trying.
::By all means persuade some independent critics to write in depth about him, and be published in reliable sources: if that happens, then an article may be possible. But not until then. ColinFine (talk) 19:13, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

::::"he has chart rap hits, albums & mixtapes". So, cite a source proving he has a hit on a recognized national chart. Albums don't count if they're self-published or from his own label or a private label, needs to be from a label that has a roster of many artists. Mixtapes are irrelevant. Anyone can make mixtapes. I've made dozens. That doesn't make me notable. Who he's friends with is irrelevant because notability isn't inherited. As yet, you have offered zero evidence of notability. Hand-waving about his productivity are just your claims and they are meaningless unless you can cite published sources. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:50, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
Article Creation Rejection
Link to the draft: Draft:Brandon D. Smith
I’m trying to figure out what would be the difference between the draft of the Brandon D. Smith page being rejected and a similar page like Michael Bird (theologian) being accepted? That might help me understand whether I am including the right sources or whether this page just isn’t viable. Thank you!! ProtestantThot (talk) 01:37, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|ProtestantThot}} First, let me say that other things existing isn't really a good argument to try and make usually. For example, if that article you point out (Michael Bird) was at AfC today, it probably wouldn't be accepted, because there's only one strong and independent source - a local news source (Houston Chronicle). The first thing I'd recommend you do is to consider which of your sources are truly independent. Many of them are written by or partially by the subject of the article. That means they are not independent of him. This includes the biography from the university, which is often written by or in collaboration with the individual it's about, for example. Non-independent sources aren't necessarily prohibited - for example they can be used for information about a person from their own, confirmed social media account. But they don't contribute to notability - in other words, they don't contribute to someone qualifying for an article.{{pb}}The general criteria to qualify for an article is that there should be {{tq|A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.}} Things like book awards and the like aren't really "significant" coverage, and they are often not independent of the subject. And in any case, they generally provide significant coverage of the book, rather than the author. If there are no instances of significant, independent coverage of him, then he likely doesn't qualify for an article. Some examples of this would be if he is discussed in newspaper articles - not interviews or the like, because those aren't independent. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez | me | talk to me! 01:51, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Question On Article Count
Was going to post at Talk:Main page but apparently that's protected.
Just looking at the 'article count' on Special:Statistics which currently states as of writing 7,002,587 articles and looking at its documentation, seems to include disambiguation pages which according to MOS:DAB are NOT articles. So subtracting the count from :Category:All article disambiguation pages (367,187) from the total gives us 6,635,400 articles.
Then there is also :Category:Temporary maintenance holdings/RFD (174) which I think the article count includes them as "articles", and the subcats of :Category:Wikipedia interwiki soft redirects (2612) and also the Main Page. So there may be 6,632,614 articles assuming that everything has been tagged correctly.
So have we really reached 7,000,000 'articles'? 115.188.96.12 (talk) 23:09, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
:Special:Statistics doesn't claim there are 7 million articles. There are 7 million content pages. Disambiguation pages are content. Redirects are main-space pages that have no content, so they aren't counted. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:52, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Are YouTube videos qualified as reliable sources?
To whom it may concern,
I am very new here and just started writing a page of a living person. Currently, I have a problem with researching for written sources since some of the information I gathered is found from interview videos which I will then search for written sources for citations.
However, I am unable to find a solid written sources on some of the information, except for the interview videos on YouTube.
Moreover, regarding the person's past works, especially music videos, cannot be found on articles or other media except for YouTube videos.
So now I am worried if the YouTube videos are considered reliable sources. I have tried researching for the answer on tutorials and guides but still find no valid answer.
Please help clarifying the criteria of using the videos as sources for my future research.

:They are reliable sources when you what to confirm that a person said something. However you should specify that this is just the words of particular person: "Mr. Smith said that he was the smartest person on the Earth". Ruslik_Zero 19:18, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
::YouTube videos are only considered reliable sources if they are from a reputable news outlet or similar on their verified channel. 331dot (talk) 19:22, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
::Interviews, however, are not an independent source, as by definition an interview is the person speaking about themselves. As such, interviews cannot establish notability. 331dot (talk) 19:23, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
:::Thank you for your kind replies and noted.
:::This clarifies a lot. Meaning if the information is debatable, I should find the solid and reputable sources, otherwise I should write down as the person 'claim' to do that.
:::What's about the person personal information? As I got a comment asking for the source of the person's birthdate and education, would it be reliable to refer to the interview as the source? (If I cannot find a solid written source)

Dealing with topic bans
If an account was topic banned, what does that mean for dealing with the subject matter where the topic banned account was heavily involved and was topic banned? If there was a "consensus" formed for example with heavy involvement of topic banned accounts, does that mean that consensus is null and void? Would a new consensus need to be formed? I have read Wikipedia:BANREVERT but it is not entirely clear to me. Iljhgtn (talk) 10:05, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Reliable sources?
Hello, would you consider either of these to be reliable sources for BLP SIGCOV and notability?
Parcinq: https://www.parcinq.com/
They're a Philippine magazine and describe themselves as "both an online magazine and a print publication" on their FAQ page. Most of their content seems to be original and exclusive, mainly artsy photoshoots and interviews with Filipino celebrities like singer Angela Ken and various Pinoy pop groups. They have a dedicated site for selling their print issues.
Gen-Z: https://ph.genz-mag.com/
Another Philippine publication. From what I can see, it's a typical online magazine through and through in content and appearance. When you click on "Contact us," it provides this info: https://ph.genz-mag.com/contact-us/
I didn't see at first, but Gen-Z also has exclusive photoshoots and interviews with Filipino celebrities such as Sam Milby and Sofia Pablo. Scrolling to the bottom of this cover story, for instance, lists names for Gen-Z
I'd consider both of them reliable because they have dedicated editorial teams and offices. What are your thoughts? Bloomagiliw (talk) 12:18, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @Bloomagiliw, welcome to the teahouse! The first source, in the FAQ, says that their "team is more than excited to review your submissions." The magazine appears to have some form of fact-checking and review for outside articles, though I am not sure 1) what their standard of quality is, and 2) if they do this same review for their own articles. As for the second source, I cannot really find anything, and they appear to be more of a virtual tabloid than anything. I'll let other editors throw in their opinions on this, but I would say the first source should be able to be used but with caution, and the second source is a no-go. Hope this helps! I recently tried to include some relevant encyclopedic information regarding the notoriety of u/controlthenarrative.
I accept that my initial contribution may have been a little bit rough around the edges, but the relevance of the "guh" sound is simply indisputable in regard to r/wallstreetbets history.
I would appreciate if the green light was given to edit the section titled 'The infinite leverage glitch' to replace
"He recorded the live reaction to his loss and uploaded it on his YouTube channel." with "He documented his real-time reaction to the substantial loss by uploading a video to his YouTube channel; during this recording, he made a memorable "guh" sound that quickly gained notoriety as tens of thousands of dollars in leveraged capital vanished." 159.242.98.158 (talk) 13:12, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Creating a Wikipedia page
I want to make a wikipedia page for my close friend who is an author, speaker and cancer and disability advocate. He has authored numerous book. Can anyone help in creating a page for free if I submit all the details? Please Milibora (talk) 04:26, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:You're going to have to do it yourself. The Wikipedia:Article wizard can help guide you through it, especially since you have just declared that you have a conflict of interest.
:First, however, read Wikipedia:Golden Rule. Before you write a single word about your friend, find multiple sources (at least two or three) that meet all three of the Golden Rule criteria. Absolutely don't start out writing what you know and then try to find sources only afterward. That's called writing WP:BACKWARD. You want to write forward.
:If you cannot find adequate published significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of your friend, then don't try to write an article, because it would never be accepted without such sources. Don't ask anyone else to do it for you either without such sources in hand, because no good Wikipedia editor would start writing an article without having the sources first. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:44, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
: {{u|Milibora}}, sorry, but contrary to previous advice, generally speaking you should not attempt to create a Wikipedia page about your friend yourself (see WP:COI for the reasons why). In addition, if your friend is not notable in the Wikipedia sense of the word, the most likely outcome is that the article will be deleted. Your original idea, namely, to provide details and let someone else do it, is feasible in theory, but as Wikipedia is a volunteer site, the most likely outcome is that no one will volunteer and no article will be written. If you still want more info, despite the extremely slim chance of this working out, please reply below. Mathglot (talk) 05:09, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

What counts as reliable?
I recently had an article rejected (Draft:Lord Byng Theater Company) for not having reliable sources, and I was quite surprised (History Student Here), so I was wondering what counts as reliable, since my article contained news, radio and awards show sources. :Most of your sources are from the company.
:A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people wholly unconnected with the subject have chosen to publish in reliable publications, and very little else. It is not a place for the subject to tell the world about itself.
:More generally, {{User:ColinFine/PractiseFirst}} This is even more important when you have a COI (thank you for declaring that), as an involvement makes it harder to see what is and isn't neutral. ColinFine (talk) 13:53, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
::Yes certainly, and from my first review I got the feedback about independence, to which I added more independent sources along with non-independent ones, and the part about independence was not mentioned again, hence my confusion about independence and reliability. :@Dcx28h On the English Wikipedia, we don't assess whether people are "famous" but rather whether they are notable based on already-published information. Hi, I created this draft (Draft:Ivelina Atanasova - Genchev) based on my published Bulgarian article, but I’m unsure how to submit it for review. Hi, I'm GasterPollo/Cast, I was about to write an article about a religion/philosophical view I made myself so others have an easy way of knowing about it, so, I was reading the basics on article creation and it says to cite anything related to it, but since I made the religion/philosophical view myself, I don't really have any reliable sources to cite, so what should I do? GasterPollo (talk) 00:21, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:There is nothing you can do, other than use social media or a personal website to tell the world about your ideas. Wikipedia is the last place to write about a topic, not the first. Wikipedia only can after others have, because Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources choose to say about a topic. See WP:MADEUP. 331dot (talk) 00:23, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Incorrect "Did you know ..."
For June 1, the "Did you know ..." "... that no other month in a calendar year starts with the same day of the week as June?" is incorrect. The month of May is also like June. They both start on unique days of the week. May however is the only month that start and ends on a unique day of the week. Beatles777! (talk) 07:22, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

:{{ping|Beatles777!}} The statement doesn't claim that June is the only month with this property. May also has it as you say. It makes the statement less interesting but not wrong. August also has the property except in leap years. May and June has it in all years. I also checked the Gregorian calendar in 1582 where ten days were skipped in October. Advice needed for my first page!
Hello,
I am trying to publish this page
Draft:Exposure-based modeling of operational risk
I am struggling as it get rejected, probably by bots, and I don't know what to do next to improve it!
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide! Patnaim (talk) 10:28, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:@Patnaim first of all, there are no bots; every reviewer is human. The main problem is your draft reads more like an academic essay rather than an encyclopedic article. I would start by removing all claims not supported by a source (which is most of the draft) and summarizing the information in a neutral manner.
::@CanonNi Thanks for your advice. I'll try my best, but that does not look simple! Patnaim (talk) 20:25, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Rejection of an article
I still don't understand why my article was rejected. Its because of sources, but i dont know how i can repair it. Can you help me? 213.151.77.62 (talk) 11:58, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:It looks like you just have to find more sources that follow the reliability guidelines outlined in WP:CITE Stickymatch 12:01, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
:Because a Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people wholly unconnected with the subject have chosen to publish about it in reliable publications, and very little else. Government documents about the setting up the Council are irrelevant.
:You need to find places (probably books or academic papers, but perhaps some articles in major newspapers) that talk about the council in some depth, and base your draft exclusively on those sources. ColinFine (talk) 12:35, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

:Hello IP! Rejected has a specific meaning in our review process - it means the article will not be accepted for further review. Your draft has only been declined, so you still have hope.
:The sources you have cited thus far appear to be government documents along with lists of current and former members. You will need to cite source(s) explaining why the Czech Fiscal Council is notable. These cannot be connected with the Czech Fiscal Council in any way. Maybe you could find a newspaper article on why the organization was founded, or one talking about what exactly the Council has been doing recently - but, again, it cannot be connected to the Council in any way. I've found a source that may be useful to you - it's by a professor at the University of Bialystok. It talks about the council's influence and I believe it will qualify as a reliable and independent source. You can access it [https://www.researchgate.net/publication/382070897_The_influence_of_the_Czech_Fiscal_Council_on_the_Sustainability_of_Public_Finance here].

How do I create a tag/parameter for a task force?

Legitimate request to mix British & US spelling format in articles?
On the Anne Frank article's Talk page, this message appears at the top:
"This article is written in British English with Oxford spelling (colour, realize, organization, analyse; note that -ize is used instead of -ise) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus."
I could hardly believe what I was reading. Can such a request not to change the mixed style without broad consensus really be legitimately made? Augnablik (talk) 18:12, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:It is not 'mixed style'; it is a subset of British English that uses a specific pattern of spelling. Don't blame Wikipedia, blame Oxford. (Whether OU, OED or OUP is most to blame, I couldn't say.) -- Verbarson talkedits 18:17, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:::It's OUP. Like many publishers, OUP has its own house "style book". OED (which is published by OUP) aims to record usage among all users of English, and is not prescriptive. I can't imagine OU ever claiming any authority over such an issue. Maproom (talk) 07:23, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
::I’m stunned … I had no idea of this! Augnablik (talk) 03:27, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, @Augnablik. There is no "mixed style" - see Oxford spelling.
:Only since spell-checkers, with their simple-minded demand for consistency, has the idea grown up that -ize is "not British". See Lynne Murphy's book The Prodigal Tongue. ColinFine (talk) 18:21, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
::Still reeling from this unexpected news, Colin, I’m tempted to ask you why “demand for consistency” is simple-minded, when the alternative would be many different spellings that could confuse readers. But I’ll curb my curiosity.

Sydney Bogues - Draft Article
Okay, I have redone the references on my draft article Draft:Sydney Uriah Bogues However declined once again. I have added the actual document to substantiate the validity of each source. Does anyone have pointers on where I may have missed out? Thank you! Artnascar7 (talk) 13:16, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:The feedback left for you time and time again has been that you need reliable sources. Your article appears to be largely primary sources, and point 5 of the policy explicitly states: "Do not base an entire article on primary source" (emphasis in original). Unless you can find sources that talk about Bouges and why he is notable after his life, then I do not believe the article will pass AfC. You also have multiple smaller sections of the article that are not sourced, sometimes there's a source earlier on in the paragraph but not for what is said at the end.
:There's also some odd things said in wikivoice, such as the end of the early childhood section: "It is for reasons like these; it would seem, why young S.U. Bogues decided to pursue a career in the field of preparing medicine." This feels like something that would belong in a book, not a Wikipedia article. Also, some of your headers are in title case (Early Childhood, The 1907 Earthquake and New Market) while others are in sentence case (Family background, Education and career): all titles should be in sentence case.
:I would heavily advise not resubmitting the article for review until you feel you have completely addressed these concerns. Do not hesitate to ask for further assistance here in the teahouse. I feel this article has potential (he's certainly an interesting character) and would hate if it was rejected for the same reasons it has been declined for. Best of luck with the article! Help understanding draft rejection: Novarabet
Hi, I'm a new editor and submitted an article about "Novarabet", an Indonesian musician and verified artist on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. It was declined because of notability concerns.
I included several sources from Yamaha Asia, Yamaha Indonesia, Kumparan, Bale Bengong, and MusicBrainz.
Can someone help me understand if these sources are strong enough, or what else I should include? Here is the draft: Draft:Novarabet
I would really appreciate any guidance. Thank you! Novarabetmusic (talk) 13:35, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:The draft has not been rejected, it has only been declined - the two words have different meanings in the AfC process. Rejection means it will not be accepted further; declined only means that it is not ready for mainspace in its current form. Your draft falls into the latter category. I will note that writing about yourself is extremely discouraged. See this page and this page for information on the topic.
:With all respect, winning a high school band competition is not an award or honor (not to mention it is unsourced). Your singles are also unsourced, and please know that discogs and Spotify are not reliable sources. PhoenixCaelestis (Talk · Contributions) 13:45, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

:A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people, wholly unconnected with the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable publications, and very little else. I'm currently working on improving the draft article about myself (Novarabet) and am aware of the importance of significant, reliable, and independent sources. You can read more about this here and here. Hope this helps! PhoenixCaelestis (Talk · Contributions) 11:19, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

Draft for Broadcaster Dante Marchitelli
I've written a draft about Dante Marchitelli, longtime NCA broadcaster for the Orlando Magic. I included multiple independent reliable sources (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Orlando Sentinel). I've avoided any subjective knowledge. I'm not sure what else I can provide. Would actual video of Dante broadcasting NBA games help? I'm not sure why he's not meeting the standard for Wikipedia. I'd really appreciate a fresh perspective and reviewer referral. Draft is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dante_Marchitelli Thanks! CTO4DM73 (talk) 22:28, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hi, @CTO4DM73, welcome to the Teahouse. I made some changes to the article that might help, as well as added a couple sources under "Further reading". Others may have more insight as to whether the subject of the article meets notability guidelines, but I noticed that you included an awful lot of external links including one to his Linkedin page, and three of the references as of now are a link to the subject's podcast. Another reference was to a forum, which I removed, as forums should not be used as a source. My question is: Do you have an affiliation with Dante Marchitelli? If so, this is something that should be disclosed. Thanks, MediaKyle (talk) 23:11, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks a lot for your help MediaKyle. I live in the Orlando, Fl area where Dante Marchitelli is a well known figure with the Orlando Magic NBA team. Should I disclose that? I have met him, but don't know him well. CTO4DM73 (talk) 23:21, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

References not displaying correctly
A problem reported, but not resolved, on 8 November 2023 has recurred on one of my User pages. Some references show as, "This reference is defined in a template or other generated block, and for now can only be previewed in source mode". In source mode they only show as a number. I've copied them from another article. Is this a bug, will it resolve when I put the article in Mainspace, or have I made a mistake? Johnragla (talk) 19:10, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:{{ping|Johnragla}} You didn't copy the reference text but only a reference marker like
which indicates that the reference text is supposed to be elsewhere on the page inside
. All the red "Cite error" messages in the rendered userspace page would still be there in a mainspace article. In VisualEditor it can be difficult to see what you copy. I don't know whether it can even copy references from one page to another. When you copy a reference within an article, you don't copy the actual reference text but only a reference marker. Maybe the reference text was in another part of the article you copied from, or maybe VisulaEditor couldn't copy the reference to a different page. In the source editor you can see what you copy. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:25, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:@Johnragla The first time you create a reference in source mode you define it like this
then every time you want to re-use that reference you just use
. Here you have the re-use code but lack the original definition code, so in visual mode you see the "This reference is defined in a template or other generated block ..." message simply because those references are currently undefined. You can simply delete the empty ones and create new defined references in there stead. Nthep (talk) 20:15, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Help understanding notability and how my article is falling short
Article link: Draft:Richard L'Abbé
I've reviewed the guidelines, and both the article and subject appear to meet the standard. That is, the subject is the focus of several articles in reliable and independent publications such as People Magazine and the Ottawa Citizen, and he's the recipient of major awards both in Canada and the US. The most recent submission was declined due to "references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions)."
Thanks for any help understanding how the subject/article are falling short of the bar needed to be worthy. Eriklabbe (talk) 14:36, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

:::I see the disclosure on the draft- could you also place a disclosure on your user page(User:Eriklabbe)? 331dot (talk) 14:51, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

:::::Thanks 331dot (talk) 15:19, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:This is an interesting article, I will admit - and I think the image adds to it. However, you need secondary sources about your father's work. These sources should be secondary in origin, independent of him, and come from reliable publications. As of now, you have not achieved that. Your sources appear to be either primary or only provide a passing mention of the subject. Two of your in-text citations are oddly in the middle of the sources segment. Also, Wikipedia should not be cited as a source (see reference #2).

Removal of Key Education Information and Request to Add Citations for Rebecca Alston Exhibitions
Hello, I’d like to request consideration for reinserting the following biographical sentence into the article on Rebecca Alston:
“She continued her studies as a post graduate student at New York University and attended the professional program modules of Harvard Graduate School of Design over several years.”
This sentence was previously removed, but the information is supported by reliable sources already cited in the article, including:
- Octavia Art Gallery – Artist Bio: https://www.octaviaartgallery.com/artists/rebecca-alston
- The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art: https://www.geometricmadimuseum.org/portfolio-item/alston
Both sources note that she studied at NYU and attended Harvard GSD programs, confirming this information.
I’m also requesting help adding sourced citations to the solo and group exhibition history for the article on Rebecca B. Alston. Many exhibitions currently lack inline citations, and I’ve compiled a set of references — including reliable articles and newspaper scans hosted on Newspapers.com — confirming her participation. Below is an example:
Exhibition: One Woman Retrospective, Walter Anderson Museum of Art, 2014–15
Citation:
I have dozens more formatted if helpful and would really appreciate assistance incorporating these into the article to improve verifiability.
Thank you! Archfusionpro (talk) 21:34, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, @Archfusionpro, and welcome to the Teahouse. The proper place to discuss this is at the talk page of the article in question, pinging the other editor(s) who removed the information. Wikipedia works by consensus, not by appeal to some authority: see WP:BRD for how this works.
:I notice that neither of the two sources you mention above is independent of Alston: the biographies likely came from her. Some kinds of information may be cited from non-independent sources (see WP:SPS); I think it is a matter of editorial judgment (and hence to be agreed among the editors interested) whether or not those are suitable sources for that information. :Unfortunately, if you cannot find reliable and independent sources for coverage of your topic, then there is very little chance that it is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. AlphaBetaGamma left some good future advice on your now-rejected draft for Fourmile Corner: "Next time, consider checking if subjects you're writing on has enough notability before starting drafts." You shouldn't be working backwards, where you need to find sources for something - find a source and use it as a starting point for an article instead. :::::It’s okay to dislike vandals, in fact I bet most editors do. However, not all IPs or editors who you think are vandals are actually vandals - some are trying to contribute, but may come across as vandals. That’s why it’s important to assume good faith. GoldRomean (talk) 02:54, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:::::{{u|Lordofcallofduty}}, three points I want to emphasise:
::::::(1) Many, perhaps most, IP addresses are now dynamic, so a user with a particular IP today may have a different one in an hour, or tomorrow, or next week. Sometimes the ISP assigns a user new IPs within a restricted range, and sometimes Wikipedia blocks that whole range, but this not infrequently hits innocent users who just happen to have IPs in the same range. Sometimes a range ban is not possible or practicable. About the only way to completely block an IP-only vandal would be to block all non-Account editing.
::::::(2) Opening a new Wikipedia account is sufficiently easy that more seriously dedicated vandals (see LTA) continually, even pre-emptively, open multiple accounts – these vandals are often responsible for the worst vandalisms, and are harder to combat.
::::::(3) As has been mentioned above, 80% of edits by IPs are good ones, not vandalism: if all IPs were banned, we would lose most of those good edits and editors. I myself have been editing Wikipedia regularly and frequently for over 20 years, have for my own reasons never created an account, and my once-fixed home IP was changed by my ISP to dynamic some years ago.

Songwriting credits section
I've noticed that in most, if not all, BLPs of musicians, the "Songwriting credits" sections often lack citations. This seems unusual to me, given that all content must be verifiable. Are these uncited credits acceptable under any current guidelines, or would it be better practice to include a reference for each entry (e.g., in a dedicated reference column if in table format)? AstrooKai (Talk) 18:54, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
:I suggest that, just as films contain cast lists that do not require independent referencing from another source in the articles about them, the fact that published musical works usually bear credits for their writers means that a separate reference for them is not required.
:The Project page Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs is not actually explicit about this, but perhaps you can find something by following up its many links, or a discussion of it somewhere in the archives of its Talk page. Why Can I Only Edit Source?
Hi there, recently I've encountered a weird problem where when I go to edit, I have no option to edit regularly, only source. :Data Devourer, a bonus (?) comment (as you suggest that the inability to check your spelling is, for you, the only drawback of editing source): I only edit source, and I only use Firefox for this. (Not any "mobile" version of Firefox or other derivative; instead, regular Firefox.) This checks my spelling (against US English spelling conventions), by default. I've never asked it to do this, let alone installed any plug-in or similar to do the job. Moving a List to a New List Article
I'm editing Camera Work and want to move a detailed list of 50 Camera Work issues to a separate list article. My goal is to streamline the Camera Work article. I'd prefer to move the list now and consider any improvements to the list once I'm done with the edits to the main article.

Chingford Town F.C.
I have an article, written in 2012 in Word, which is a brief history of this football club and contains considerably more information than the Wikipedia article, which has at least one significant error, that is that the team played in amateur leagues. The team was much more significant than that and for two and a half seasons, they were members of the Southern League, which was the strongest competition outside the Football League, and whose players were mostly semi-professional, i.e. they were paid but had other jobs.
The article has sourced its content from the local newspaper of the time, the Chingford Guardian. If you contact me, I will send it to you as I don't know how else to include it.

:Please understand we would need to be able to locate and add suitable references when doing so. If you happen to know of any, also advising us of those on the talk page would be very helpful. ···sardonism · t · c 16:35, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:Hello, Mick, and welcome to the Teahouse.
:If you wanted to improve the extremely weak article Chingford Town F.C., that would be welcome; but unfortunately, unless your article was based on independent, reliable published sources, it will not be much use in doing so. Local newspapers are often borderline for being regarded as reliable; and the newspaper articles would need to be mostly independent of the club (i.e. not based on interviews or press releases).
:A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people, wholly unconnected with the subject, have chosem to publish about the subject in reliable publications, and not much else.
:The existing article does not meet this description in several ways: it cites only one source, and it is not clear whether that book is a reliable source, or whether it is independent of Chingford Town F.C. - unless it is both of these, it does not contribute to establishing that the club meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability. Even if it does, a single source is not enough.
:A good deal of the article - including everything about the revivals - is unsourced.
:You are welcome to add the specific information you want to change, cited to the source - see WP:REFB for how to cite sources. But in my view, doing so will not improve the article significantly. ColinFine (talk) 17:19, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
How do you cite a NewsBank article?
: How in the name of a gigantic holy monkey do you cite a NewsBank article?
Hey everyone!
Via my local library system I was able to gain access to NewsBank and its trove of articles. Problem is that I cannot figure out the proper URL designation to use that won't direct users to a combined NewsBank/library URL which would not be accessible to most readers or editors.
I tried doing a Teahouse and WP search to no avail.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi...you're my only hope.

:@OlympiaBuebird, Template:NewsBank text might be what you're after. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:38, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
::Hey @Gråbergs Gråa Sång,
::That'll do. Seems like it's in English. My thanks! OlympiaBuebird (talk) 17:41, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:::@OlympiaBuebird I've used a similar thing for ProQuest, you can see example refs at Charleen Kinser. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:48, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
::::@Gråbergs Gråa Sång Huge help...think I got it. But don't go to Vegas and bet on that. Could you do me a favor and check the following edit - 1293956302 - to see if I did it good? OlympiaBuebird (talk) 18:03, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:::::@OlympiaBuebird Looks fine to me! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:10, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
Article about a deceased man
Laurence J Ruggiero (1948 - 2023) was an American Museum Director and Art Historian.
I have several newspaper and magazine citations about Larry. HorizonHarrisburg (talk) 17:19, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
:@HorizonHarrisburg I'm not sure this is what you're after, but it's allowed to use off-line citations on Wikipedia. Here's one example.{{cite news |last1=Harrison |first1=Claude |title=Skeeter Reece finds athletic skills are useful as a clown| work=The Philadelphia Tribune |date=June 9, 1981 |page=11}} And if you haven't, take a look at [https://archive.org/search?query=%22Laurence+J+Ruggiero%22&sin=TXT].

:Hello, @HorizonHarrisburg. Welcome to the Teahouse.
:{{User:ColinFine/PractiseFirst}} (I know your account has been around for a couple of years, but you've only made a few edits).
:As GGS says, your sources do not have to be online; but most of them need to meet the criteria in WP:42 - do they contain significant coverage of Ruggiero, or just a passing mention? Are they based on an interview or press release from Ruggiero or from organisations he was connected with? ColinFine (talk) 18:10, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
